The entrance to the Aquamar apartment building is a few yards from Vilamoura Marina. The marina itself has approximately 1 mile of very pleasant promenade to explore, with impressive views of the many vessels berthed alongside. There are bars and restaurants to suit every taste and budget, and a good selection of shops along the way. On your return to Aquamar you will find quick and easy access to apartment 2.02 via the bright and spacious reception area and one of four lifts - then just a few steps along a well lit corridor.

Excellent Apartment right by the Marina

We have just returned from a week's stay at the apartment which is very convenient for the bars and restaurants at the Marina. The apartment is spacious and very clean and has everything we needed. David responded quickly to any queries we raised. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Fabulous Apartment!

Just returned from a wonderful two week stay at this apartment in Vilamoura. Firstly, David, the owner, was extremely helpful in answering my questions about the apartment. I am an extremely fussy person about where I stay and do a lot of research before I book. I am pleased to say that we were not disappointed. The apartment block is at the far end of the marina (the opposite side from the Tivoli Hotel) and is in a fantastic spot. It is a short walk to the beach, the apartment block is very clean and is always manned by a helpful person on reception. The communal areas are spotless, the pool area is delightful with plenty of sunloungers and shaded areas. David's apartment is really lovely, it is big and airy and the room sizes are great for everyone to spread out. The apartment has everything you need kitchen wise, there are books and DVD's, there are beach towels to borrow, just everything. There is a lovely breeze in Vilamoura so of an evening when the kids had gone to bed, we could sit out on the balcony and watch the people go by whilst enjoying a bottle of wine. There is a little shop just underneath the apartment block which has everything you need although there are larger supermarkets too not too far away. Vilamoura itself is really lovely, the marina is right on your doorstep with lots of shops, restaurants, ice cream parlours for you to wander around. There is a little square at the back of marina with more restaurants and in our opinion, better restaurants than on the marina itself. We hired a car for a few days (although you don't need a car) and explored a little further afield - had a lovely day at Quinta do Lago at The Shack and on the Lake, went down to Izzy's & Julia's down at Val do Lobo and a day at the Zoo Marine water park. We pre-booked a taxi to the apartment with Yellowfish Transfers which cost us 50 Euros for a return trip. Great service both ways. All in all a really lovely holiday enjoyed by our whole family.

Hotel Quality

We have been coming to Vilamoura for a number of years and this is one of the best apartments we have stayed in to date. As per other reviews, the apartment is very well appointed, with everything you need. Plenty of space in all the light modern rooms. It has two bathrooms (one is a shower room). As per the pics, the balcony has tables and seating for those times you may want to dine in, or to while away a few hours relaxing. The apartment is a short stroll to the Marina, so everything is on hand in respect to restaurants, bars and shops; and around a 10min walk to the beach. The enclosed pool is perfect for children and adults alike (it has a paddle section, and the main pool is graduated in depth), very clean and with sun loungers. David (the owner) was quick to respond to any queries we had when booking. We will definitely be booking again, and would thoroughly recommend.

RELAXING LUXURY

A very clean luxury apartment with everything you need for a relaxing break. The apartment building is very modern and clean with a lovely well kept pool area. Plenty of sunbeds and shades. Just a couple of minutes walk to the Marina and all the shops and restaurants. I would absolutely recommend this property.

Excellent modern apartment in a brilliant location

We are a family of four and we stayed in this apartment last week. It is a fabulous apartment with everything you need in it for your family holiday. A welcome pack of water, bread ,milk and butter was much appreciated. Kitchen has everything you will need and all the basics are in the kitchen as well which makes your stay very easy with less shopping for basics! eg Washing up liquid, pepper, salt, cooking oil, soap etc. Its a very modern, clean spacious apartment. Full closing shutters on all the windows made it feel very safe and dark for the early morning risers we had with us!

Situated at the end of the Marina, its a very easy stroll to all the bars/shops and restuarants and there is the lovely large beach 5 mins walk as well. Our kids loved the beach!

There is a very reasonable shop right on the corner of the complex that does fresh warm bread and croissants every day, and its got all the basics you need so we didnt even go to a larger supermarket juring our stay. The pool was clean and very well kept, with plenty of sun loungers and toilets right beside it that we could use.

We really enjoyed our holiday here. David communicated very well with any questions we had and gave us info on the area. I would have no hesitation recommending this apartment for anyone wanting to stay in Vilamoura.

Special interest holidays:

Vilamoura, and its near neighbour Quarteira, provide miles of flat ground for easy cycling - with leisurely routes around Vilamoura, the marina, and Quarteira's long promenade.

Brown's Sports & leisure Club in Vilamoura offers daily/weekly membership (including gym, pool, tennis etc.).

Aquashow water park (5 minutes by car) has tremendous water rides and is great for kids, young and old, to spend a day. Further west, approx. 30 - 40 minutes by A22 motorway are Aqualand and also Slide & Splash. These parks are usually open from April to September at least, but dates vary. Zoomarine (15/20 minutes by car, and open most of the year) is also a full day of enjoyment for all the family, with amazing dolphins, seals/sea lions etc., as well as the superb 4D cinema screen.

The Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila lie just 100 metres along from the apartment and are evidence that this modern resort area does have an intriguing past – historically and geographically.

Coast/Beach:

Falesia beach is a short walk away, renowned as one of the best. Its name refers to the red cliffs which provide the backdrop to the beach. Stretching about 6 km west towards Albufeira, the beach is great for walks (as well as sunbathing!) and there are cafes dotted along the way. Watersports are available at certain points on the beach. At the end you can walk up and over to Olhos de Agua and its cosy beach. To the east Vilamoura beach, and Quarteira beach beyond, provide yet more choice.

Travel:

The apartment is about 25 minutes drive from Faro airport – around 30/35 Euros by 4 seater taxi depending on time of day/week etc. There are 2 or 3 taxi stands around the marina and local journeys are reasonably priced. Buses run to Faro and Albufeira. 2 tourist ‘trains’ travel round the resort (including Aquamar) and you can hop on/off all day for a reasonable price. Zoomarine has regular buses from Vilamoura to the park. Car hire is easy to arrange once in Vilamoura - details provided on booking.

Distances:

Faro is approx. 25 minutes away by car (35-55 by bus from the marina). It has a nice small marina, pedestrianised shopping/cafe area, and interesting historic quarter - one adjacent to the next - and perfect for a half day or longer. A boat tour from Faro of the Ria Formosa nature park is well worth the time.

Historic Silves is c. 40 Km and Portimao, with its nice squares and good shopping, 50 km away.

Lisbon is 3 hours by car, bus or train, and worth adding to an Algarve trip if time allows.

Further Details:

The marina provides an attractive and relaxing spot for leisurely strolls - day or night. A great choice of bars and restaurants awaits – and you’ll never miss a big sporting or other televised event as many of them have comprehensive satellite coverage. Watersports, boat and fishing trips are available from the marina. Vilamoura also has a lawn bowling club and a tennis club with 12 courts (5 floodlit) - all within walking distance. The resort's casino has a great reputation - as well as the tables and gaming machines, you can see a spectacular international show, enjoy dinner, and dance at Blackjack's disco! There is a very handy mini market at one corner of the apartment building (seasonal opening) and a couple of small supermarkets in the marina area, which are about 10 minutes walk from the apartment. Cash machines are available around the marina. As you enter the town of Almancil, 10 minutes drive to the east, there is a larger, very popular supermarket (with a Barclays bank opposite). Almancil also has an impressive karting track, including junior track. Large indoor shopping complexes can be found as you head into Faro, and also at Algarve Shopping (15 minutes to the west of Vilamoura). There is something for everyone in Vilamoura, and the result is a lively, but relaxed resort day or night.

If you have a car the A22 motorway makes days out along much of the Algarve coast quite easily achievable. From Sagres on the south west tip, back through Lagos, Portimao and Lagoa (which is home to the Slide & Splash water park, and also has the pleasant beach resort of Carvoeiro nearby, as well as historic Silves slightly inland).

Closer to Vilamoura, the old town of Albufeira is also good for beach, shops, bars and restaurants - and the small beach at Olhos de Agua lends a different atmosphere again.
