Situated in the favoured North East coast of Corfu Koutsounada House is an elegant and contemporary property built in the Corfiot style. Nestling amongst olive trees in tranquil grounds extending to one acre it is tastefully furnished and very well equipped for both indoor and outdoor living. There is a large 6m x 12m pool, a BBQ and outdoor dining space plus other outdoor seating spaces. Just 300 metres behind the stunning white crescent of Avlaki beach this charming house will appeal to families looking for seclusion with activities for the more energetic on the doorstep. The beach is delightfully unspoilt and has two excellent tavernas (with free wireless internet access), windsurfing, dinghy sailing and boat hire; horse-riding is also available nearby. The picturesque village of Agios Stefanos is a short drive away, as is the harbour town of Kassiopi with its shops, bars and vibrant nightlife. Local supermarkets are a 5 minute drive (20 minute walk) and will deliver free of charge.

About Patricia Oliveira

We are two families who have always holidayed together since our children were very small. We first spent a holiday in north east Corfu in 2005, and were so impressed with the area that we found ourselves returning year-on-year.

In 2008 we eventually found a suitable plot on which to build our much-loved Koutsounada House. Even after so many years we still look forward to holidaying together in our joint home, and take great pleasure in seeing how the house and garden have developed and matured over time.

Notes on accommodation: Our wonderful (totally bilingual) house manager, Natushka, provides a 'meet and greet' service which includes supplying a welcome pack that can be tailored to personal requirements. She will visit the house to explain how everything works, to give information on the surrounding area and to leave her contact details for any queries during your stay. Please note that for arrivals at the airport after 7.00 pm the keys will be left with the car-hire or taxi driver. Air-conditioning is available in all rooms and included in the rental price. However, we request that for environmental reasons this is not left running when windows or doors are open, or when a room is unoccupied. For out-of-season rental central heating and logs for the fireplace are inclusive of rental price. The property is located in flat land so is suitable for children; as there is a swimming pool they should be supervised at all times. Pets are not permitted on this property. The house is non-smoking in all indoor areas. Outside: A lovely covered verandah fronts the entire length of the property and provides ample shade at all times of the day. In the evening it becomes a peaceful haven in which to relax in the comfortable terrace furniture. The house is flanked by two pergolas which provide sunbathing or dining areas. A further pergola leads off from Bedroom 2 and is a secluded spot from which to greet the early morning sun. There is a large built-in barbecue adjacent to the outdoor dining area. This area is covered by a pergola and houses a large table and 8 chairs. The 12 x 6m pool is clearly visible from this spot, which is an elegant and private dining space. The private and secluded pool has sunbathing areas with 8 luxurious sunbeds and a parasol; an outdoor shower is located at its edge and further shade is provided by olive trees. The garden is huge and consists of cultivated areas planted with native trees, plants, shrubs and fruit trees; a wild area provides visual interest and encourages wildlife. Utility Room: Miele washing machine, iron and ironing board and general household and cleaning materials. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning twice a week. Towels and linen for the house are provided, as are beach or pool towels. Our house manager, Natushka, is available to deal with any queries or problems which might arise during your stay. Other: Bedroom 4 houses a large under-stairs cupboard which is very useful for suitcase storage

A classy joint

This was our second year at the villa, and it really is a lovely property. It is really cool in the property, even at the hottest times, and the air conditioning units are fantastic. Outside, there is plenty of shade, even round the pool, and there is always a lovely breeze. But perhaps the highlight is the pool, which is absolutely lovely. Perfect size, lovely temperature, one can spend hours in it. In short, it is a really classy villa, without being "over the top".

Well equipped villa, perfect pool in a lovely setting and a great location.

We visited the villa for a second year and, despite having built it up in our minds following a wonderful first visit, it did not disappoint. The villa is well equipped with efficientl air conditioning. The garden is mature and beautiful and a wonderful pool catches the sun all day (in late June at least). Nearby Avlaki beach (no more than 200 yards) is quiet and unspoilt, although it is a pebble beach. At the beach there is an excellent taverna, Cavo Barbaro, which we would very highly recommend. Agios Stefanos is less than a 10 minute drive away and well worth a visit with some great bars and restaurants. We had a really enjoyable time, it was quiet and relaxing.

Fantastic house, amazing pool!

What an amazing stay! The house was beautiful, really fabulously done up, and completely private down a fairly long stony drive (yet only a 5 minute walk to gorgeous Avlaki beach and the brilliant Cavo Barbaro taverna where the food is delicious and the staff are so friendly!). The outdoor seating areas (there are several!) are perfect for sitting with a book or a drink wherever the sun is. Comfy beds, lots of games, good air conditioning and a super open plan kitchen living room, it was ideal for a family holiday. The thing that really made it for us though was the swimming pool. It's warm, and the perfect size, with generous steps for young children to get used to the idea, but deep enough for adults to enjoy a good swim. We were so sad to leave and very much hope to be back next year! Patricia is lovely to deal with and Natushka and her husband, who look after the house, were really kind and helpful. Would really recommend it.

Fantastic!

This is one of the most beautiful, comfortable, well equipped and fabulously situated places we have stayed in. The sea, fantastic tavernas and a great supermarket are all within walking distance. There is table tennis, a BBQ, wi-if, shade, sun and swimming. Great boat trips and interesting nearby villages to explore. 7 of us stayed for a week and can't wait to return. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Special interest holidays:

Sailing courses (and other water sports) can be found at Avlaki Bay - 300m walk away. Walking in the vicinity is to be recommended; organised walking tours can be found online, as can painting courses. Horse riding is also available close by.

Coast/Beach:

Avlaki Beach is a 3 minute level walk from the house. It is a large horseshoe-shaped bay with an idyllic long beach enclosed by two rocky and densely wooded headlands sweeping out to sea. It never becomes over-crowded, even in the height of summer, as it is slightly off the main routes so is known only to locals and regular visitors to this corner of Corfu. It has been awarded blue flag status, and boasts stunning views of the Albanian Mountains.

Travel:

Easyjet flies to Corfu direct from Gatwick from 1st April to end October; it also offers flights from Manchester, Luton, Stansted, Bristol and many other regional airports actions the UK. Other operators include BA, Monarch, Thomson, flythomascook, Ryanair, Norwegian Air, Olympic and Aegean. Car hire is advised but not essential. Car hire pick-up and drop-off is available from the airport or in Kassiopi. Numerous car hire companies advertise online and we can arrange taxi transfers on request.

Distances:

Avlaki beach 300m. Nearest supermarket 2km (free delivery available). Kassiopi 2.5km. Agios Stefanos 4.5km - a five minute drive. Sinies (supermarket and superb bakery - free delivery available) 4km. Corfu Town and Airport 38km.

Further Details:

The nearest town, Kassiopi, is a five minute drive away. Whilst it clearly caters for tourists over the summer months it is still at heart a fishing village with a traditional port. Down at the harbour it is possible to find local fishermen supplying the local restaurants with fresh daily fish. Tavernas, shops, supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, doctors, internet cafes, beaches and bars offer something for everyone. Teenagers will appreciate the evening life here and in nearby Agios Stefanos - between them they offer several music bars and 'low key' clubs. It is a safe environment in which to meet other friends. Both the tavernas on Avlaki beach have free wireless internet access. Water skiing, wake boarding, scuba diving, wind sailing and boat hire are all available close by. Water parks are also easily accessible - Aqua Land is the biggest, just west of Corfu Town or the Hydropolis near Acharavi. Scooter, bike and buggy rental are available in Kassiopi. Numerous boat trips, fishing trips and excursions to other locations on the island are on offer locally. Horse riding is available close to the beach at Avlaki. Corfu is renowned for its stunning flora and fauna, most famously visualised in Gerald Durrell's 'My Family and other Animals'. This can be best appreciated in the cooler months when it is possible to walk the coastal and mountain paths. Celebration of Easter in Corfu is a unique experience, and part of an extensive calendar of religious and cultural activities different from anywhere else in Greece. There are numerous celebrations in Corfu Town and in the villages, involving amongst other things philharmonic bands, pot throwing, fireworks, pan banging, sirens and of course feasting. Driving or walking out into the countryside at this time of the year is a reminder of the fact that the festival celebrates fertility and renewal, with the abundant wild flowers providing a rainbow of colours.

Booking Notes:
To confirm your booking a 25% deposit is to be paid within 7 days. The payment of the deposit constitutes acceptance of the Terms and Conditions (which will be sent at the same time as the Booking Form) and is non-refundable; the cancellation policy is also outlined in the Terms and Conditions document. Balance is to be paid 8 weeks prior to departure in sterling (GBP) together with a security deposit of £250, which will be returned subject to any deductions. Please ensure you have adequate travel insurance (including cancellation cover).
Two week bookings are preferred in peak season - late July and August.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday (or by arrangement). The house should be vacated by 10.00am on the date of departure to allow time to prepare the house for incoming guests. The house will be ready for new arrivals by 3.00pm.
