About the Owner

We are two families who have always holidayed together since our children were very small. We first spent a holiday in north east Corfu in 2005, and were so impressed with the area that we found ourselves returning year-on-year.

In 2008 we eventually found a suitable plot on which to build our much-loved Koutsounada House. Even after so many years we still look forward to holidaying together in our joint home, and take great pleasure in seeing how the house and garden have developed and matured over time.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We are home again after another fabulous holiday at Koutsounada. No one wanted to come home. The villa was just as we remembered it - very welcoming and familiar. Natushka was her usual warm self, the weather was mid 30's and we spent the time on the beach or in the pool - very relaxing for us all. Thank you for the use of your beautiful home and we can't wait until the next time.

Regards, MJ” - July 2013

“The villa is one of the best we have stayed in and had everything we could possibly need (except a teapot!!). The pool was fantastic and we hardly strayed away from the villa we were so relaxed . . . We hope to be back soon"

J,S,S,P,G and N - June 2014

(Note from owner: Teapot oversight now rectified!)

"Our 5th stay here at Koutsounada, our fourth birthday celebrated on Corfu and the same sense of sadness at leaving. One week is not enough. We hired from San Stefanos boats this year as Dimitri has gone missing from Avlaki. They were very good - helpful and professional; it is a great way to see the island. Natushka, as ever, was great. We leave with heavy hearts but light souls!"

Lovely villa in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Koutsounada is even more beautiful than the pictures and description suggest. The house has a happy and calm feel, and is extremely well equipped and maintained. The bedrooms are all equally pleasant (no scope for squabbling) and the terraces, garden and pool are lovely. Communication with the owner and the housekeeper was excellent at all times as were their recommendations. We shared their enthousiasm for Cavo Barbaro (much better value than Taverna Avlaki) and also much enjoyed the restauarnt at Glyfa. We can't wait to go back.

Lovely villa in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Koutsounada is even better than the pictures and description suggest : well equipped, extremely comfortable and maintained to a very high standard. The house has a very happy and calm feel, the bedrooms are all equally pleasant (important on holiday) and the garden, terraces and the pool lovely. Like other guests we were very well looked after at Cavo Barbaro (much better value than Taverna Avlaki) and also loved the restaurant at Glyfa. We much look forward to our next visit.

Stylish, classy and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, my son and daughter and four of their friends spent an idyllic week at this lovely villa. The villa is incredibly well located, with Avlaki almost equidistant between Agios Stefanos and Kasioppei. The villa itself is close to the beach, but not too close, secluded yet accessible, and benefits from a lovely breeze, particularly at the far end of the pool. The house is charming, well appointed, and everything works. The outside is delightful, with excellent shady areas, a lovely garden, and an outstanding pool - a good size, clean and perfect temperature. I am in a wheelchair, and I would say that, having had a ramp organised by Natushka and Yianni, the villa is accessible for a competent wheelchair user. My wheelchair is 24 inches wide, and just fits through the bathroom door. All in all, a fantastic villa that lives up to the description and the photographs.

A lovely villa and pool, 5 minutes from the sea

  • 5 of 5

The villa was perfect, with every need catered for and good to have the maid a couple of times during the week to tidy up! It absolutely lived up to, and even surpassed, its description. It had everything we needed for all ages from 2 to 65. We were welcomed by the caretaker and the pre-ordered supermarket delivery from Nikos was waiting for us! Great swimming in Avlaki bay and Taverna Barbara was excellent. We hired a boat from San Stephanos, lunch in Taverna Agni and swimming in bays on the way and way back. Lunch at Kalmouri also recommended.

All in all a lovely place. Everyone very friendly and would definitely go back.

Perfect holiday retreat

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a very enjoyable week in June and found the villa/house to be very comfortable and well placed for a quiet retreat in a delightful garden with a wonderful pool. However, the lovely Avlaki Bay is just a short walk away and has the great fortune to have a very friendly taverna - Cavo Barbaro - which produced such delicious food that we ate there 5 nights out of the 7! We had a couple of trips out and really enjoyed a boat trip which afforded us the opportunity to see all the surrounding bays from a different vantage point. Everyone was so friendly in Corfu and I would thoroughly recommend the house.

Owner's Response: Delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay in Koutsounada, and that you managed to get out and about a little by boat. We are very lucky having Cavo Barbaro on our doorstep - like you, we always seem to end up eating there, despite our very best intentions to eat in! I think Fotis and Kallina produce some of the best food on the island.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Corfu Airport (Ioannis Kapodistrias) at 30 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Corfu Town at 30 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Cavo Barbaro and Taverna Avlaki at 300 Metres Nearest Beach : Avlaki Beach at 300 Metres Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Sailing courses (and other water sports) can be found at Avlaki Bay - 300m walk away. Walking in the vicinity is to be recommended; organised walking tours can be found online, as can painting courses. Horse riding is also available close by.

Coast/Beach:

Avlaki Beach is a 3 minute level walk from the house. It is a large horseshoe-shaped bay with an idyllic long beach enclosed by two rocky and densely wooded headlands sweeping out to sea. It never becomes over-crowded, even in the height of summer, as it is slightly off the main routes so is known only to locals and regular visitors to this corner of Corfu. It has been awarded blue flag status, and boasts stunning views of the Albanian Mountains.

Travel:

Easyjet flies to Corfu direct from Gatwick from 1st April to end October; it also offers flights from Manchester, Luton, Stansted, Bristol and many other regional airports actions the UK. Other operators include BA, Monarch, Thomson, flythomascook, Ryanair, Norwegian Air, Olympic and Aegean. Car hire is advised but not essential. Car hire pick-up and drop-off is available from the airport or in Kassiopi. Numerous car hire companies advertise online and we can arrange taxi transfers on request.

Distances:

Avlaki beach 300m. Nearest supermarket 2km (free delivery available). Kassiopi 2.5km. Agios Stefanos 4.5km - a five minute drive. Sinies (supermarket and superb bakery - free delivery available) 4km. Corfu Town and Airport 38km.

Further Details:

The nearest town, Kassiopi, is a five minute drive away. Whilst it clearly caters for tourists over the summer months it is still at heart a fishing village with a traditional port. Down at the harbour it is possible to find local fishermen supplying the local restaurants with fresh daily fish. Tavernas, shops, supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, doctors, internet cafes, beaches and bars offer something for everyone. Teenagers will appreciate the evening life here and in nearby Agios Stefanos - between them they offer several music bars and 'low key' clubs. It is a safe environment in which to meet other friends. Both the tavernas on Avlaki beach have free wireless internet access. Water skiing, wake boarding, scuba diving, wind sailing and boat hire are all available close by. Water parks are also easily accessible - Aqua Land is the biggest, just west of Corfu Town or the Hydropolis near Acharavi. Scooter, bike and buggy rental are available in Kassiopi. Numerous boat trips, fishing trips and excursions to other locations on the island are on offer locally. Horse riding is available close to the beach at Avlaki. Corfu is renowned for its stunning flora and fauna, most famously visualised in Gerald Durrell's 'My Family and other Animals'. This can be best appreciated in the cooler months when it is possible to walk the coastal and mountain paths. Celebration of Easter in Corfu is a unique experience, and part of an extensive calendar of religious and cultural activities different from anywhere else in Greece. There are numerous celebrations in Corfu Town and in the villages, involving amongst other things philharmonic bands, pot throwing, fireworks, pan banging, sirens and of course feasting. Driving or walking out into the countryside at this time of the year is a reminder of the fact that the festival celebrates fertility and renewal, with the abundant wild flowers providing a rainbow of colours.
