From the minute we arrived at the cottage we felt right at home. The welcome from Chris and Peter was exceptional the courtesy and consideration extended to us was wonderful, nothing over the period of our stay was a bother, their concerns for our wellbeing and comfort was outstanding.Everything that you could possibly require for your comfort was to hand in the cottage. It was very well maintained and very luxurious. The village Cafe/Bar shop was excellent value for lunch, the bucher, the Baker were also conveninet. The location and facilities not only within the cottage were first class. We would have no hesitation in recommending Les Coquelicots and have already recommended it to several people. If it were possible to give more than a 5 star rating we certainly would. We would like to thank Chris and Peter for making our holiday a wonderful time and we will most certainly be returning.

Location Location Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts provided us with the most perfect location for the best holiday we have ever had.

The accommodation was gorgeous had every home comfort and more. The welcome pack was very generous as was the welcome from Chris and Peter.

Chris and Peter were always on hand to recommend and advise but never intrusive.

The accommodation was very central to many beautiful towns, Dinan, Bayeux, Granville, also the Normandy beaches. We visited Paris which was only 2 hours on the Train from Vire.

For us the cycling was fantastic, challenging hills but the "voie vert" an old disused railway line ,provided a lovely route which ambled between villages.

A perfect holiday if you want to be active, sight see or just sit in the garden and read books. Thank you so much.

We have holidayed in many lodges and self catering accommodation, but 'Les Coquillettes' is by far the best, with every home comfort catered for. We enjoyed the privacy of the large garden, and very spacious gite. Peter and Chris are wonderful hosts, always available to help, but very discreet. We had a fantastic, relaxing time and would recommend this delightful gite as a holiday destination. Many thanks for a truly perfect holiday, we will back again soon. Caroline and Bryan

Fantastic cottage and setting for a truly relaxing break. Very peaceful location with everything you need to relax. The owners are delightful company, on hand for when you need anything, but also very discreet. This was our first stay in Normandy and it most definitely won't be our last. The cottage is close to some charming towns and there is lots to do but it's so relaxing you won't want to do a lot!

Thank you Chris and Peter for a fantastic week.

Every Creature Comfort

  • 5 of 5

I can say without hesitation that Les Coquellicots is the best gite we have ever stayed in, particularly in terms of comfort and convenience. It is immaculately run and maintained by Chris and Peter, who were the perfect hosts for our very relaxing Christmas break (they even put up a tree and lights for us!). Every time we thought 'I wonder if there is a .....?', there it was in a cupboard or draw! For the price paid, it is worth every one of the five stars we recommend.

The gite is small (one bedroom). but that makes it very cosy and just right for a couple. It is set in picturesque rolling countryside and within easy access of many attractive towns and the coastal beaches. There are some small shops nearby for essentials, like fresh bread, but Vire town is only 15 minutes drive away, which has everything you would need. Chris and Peter can recommend a wonderful restaurant for a special meal.

We stayed in mid winter and so weren't able to make the most of the gardens around the gite, but I can imagine that in the summer they would be great for sitting out for an evening drink or barbeque. There are plenty of books and games on hand if the weather turns bad, and the large TV gets Sky and all the UK tv channels.

I thoroughly recommend this gite for the level of comfort and the warmth of the reception from the owners. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful gite for two!

  • 5 of 5

Spent a fantastic week at this beautiful gite in October. It was like home from home, couldn't fault anything( only that we couldn't stay longer). We had a warm welcome from Chris and Peter, a tray was even set ready for a welcome cup of tea on arrival. We didn't go shopping until the second day as our hosts had provided a substantial welcome pack! The weather was kind and we fell in love with the small town of sourdeval which was only ten minutes drive away. Walking along the lanes from the gite was a pleasure, horses, cows, birds and blackberries galore. We had a problem with the car, Chris directed us to a garage in the village ( run by 2 English lads). All was sorted but Christ and Pete were there to show there concerns. We spent a few hours with them over drinks at their house. Chatting by their log fire was a definite highlight and felt that we had known them for longer than a week . Thanks very much to you both, hope to see you again next year. John and Carol.
