About the Owner

The owners bought Lowlands in 2003 with the intention of moving to Cornwall. Work started in November 2004 to make it the superb family home it is today but sadly circumstances have not conspired to enable us to move to Coverack yet. For this reason we currently offer people the opportunity to share our lovely house by renting it so they can appreciate this wonderful corner of Cornwall which so consistently draws people back to it year on year. Chris and Billie have two gorgeous daughters, both in their 20s, who share their love of Coverack having spent so many happy summers there. The house very much reflects our way of living and provides a comfortable and distinctively personal feel to the accommodation.

Location

From the Owner

Having holidayed in Coverack for over twenty years, an opportunity arose to buy this brilliantly situated house from which we fondly imagine we can see our grandchildren (potential) on either the harbour wall or the beach. With its own garden and quiet location it provided a restful retreat whilst giving superb view of the bay and access to all the village facilities within a few hundred metres. The potential for development became a reality when the builder moved in resulting in the light and modern accommodation it provides today. The remoteness of the Lizard is ideally suited for those who, like us, appreciate simple pleasures and a predominantly outdoor lifestyle, together with loads to fascinate both culturally and historically, and numerous activities on offer.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

The house is ideal for the use of small 'special interest' groups, such as artists, photographers, geologists etc for those wishing to take advantage of the many interesting facilities locally.

Coast/Beach:

One minute's walk to Coverack's own beach. Approximately ten minutes to the quieter 'Headland' beach. Being tidal these beaches are quiet, clean and unspoiled. There are many other beaches in the area, with the extensive north coast beaches so loved by surfers accessible within the hour, and others from the famously picturesque Kynance Cove to Kennack Sands, Church Cove etc easily accessed by car.

Travel:

Newquay is the nearest airport (approx 1 hr). Redruth is the nearest station (approx 50 mins). A car will not be necessary for the majority of your stay if you want a quiet and relaxing break. For those who wish to do a little more, then it would be essential.

Distances:

St. Keverne (approx 4 miles). Helston (approx 8 miles). Penzance, Falmouth, St. Ives all approximately 1 hr by car.

Further Details:

The area has lots to offer, from activities such as diving or sailing (we are very near the Helford River), extensive and interesting walking (the coastal path runs through the village) to other pursuits such as the many famous gardens and National Trust properties open locally. There is lots for artists with the many galleries of St. Ives, including Tate St. Ives easily accessible by car. The Seal Sanctuary is situated locally at Gweek and Future World at Goonhilly offers a fascinating insight into technology. The National Maritime Museum is at Falmouth and days out will reveal the fascinatingly diverse landscape of the Lizard from the green creeks of the Helford Passage to the more rugged coastal cliffs by the Lizard lighthouse.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The house is designed as a comfortable and easily run family house. It has centrally heating throughout but is generally well insulated and heating in summer is rarely required. The house is accessed by concrete steps in two places, although there are alternative points of access for those who find steps difficult. In providing for children, it should be noted that the garden, while private, is not entirely ring fenced but there is plenty of room to run about or play boules or badminton. There are are also large areas of stone tiled floor in the hall and kitchen/conservatory area, although all the bedrooms and sitting room are carpeted. No smoking. No pets. Outside: The garden is largely set to lawn with some flower beds. It is an orchard behind the house and is hedged with the typically Cornish hedging plants of escallonia and fuchsia. It is predominantly set on three levels. The patio has integrated seating, a mobile barbecue, and a picnic style table. Some sun loungers are available. Utility Room: Separate utility with drying rack, freezer, tumble dryer and washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and tea towels are provided, but please bring your own towels. The property will be cleaned immaculately before and after your departure. Arrangements can be made for extra linen and cleaning for those staying for more than one week. Other: Large entrance hall area with stairs to first floor and landing and 'stable' back door. Separate ground floor toilet facility designed for disabled use.
