Guestbook comments from the owner

We booked to stay at Le Bonheur for 10 days in June and found it to be the perfect getaway. Before hand, Shirley was helpful with booking and ensuring we were prepared for our stay - with a huge housebook detailing everything we would need! The house was fully equipped and they had gone above and beyond by ensuring the house was full of modern technology and entertainment, which proved useful for us as it was raining whilst we were there. You will be beyond comfortable and happy at this place, it is perfect for groups looking to get away without feeling like they are on top of each other as the house is spacious enough!

The house was truly everything we needed and wanted and it is sure to make your holiday a great one! 5*

Blissful, rural retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My husband gave me the brief to find a property which was in a rural location, had a pool and surrounded by vineyards. Le Bonheur is just that! Set in a tiny hamlet, just on the outskirts of sleepy Taillecavat, this converted farm building is truly a home-from-home. The renovation has been done to a superbly high standard, with very generous bedrooms, bathrooms and a super lounge and large kitchen. Le Bonheur also has a wonderful pool which we enjoyed a lot! The location is SO peaceful and yet you can access Bordeaux or Bergerac in an hour. There are numerous villages and vineyards to wind your way through, and we really enjoyed discovering the prune, cheese and chocolate! Thierry is the local baker and produces mouth-watering delights! Well worth a visit. Honestly, this has got to be one of the most relaxing and wonderful holidays we've ever had. Would we come back? Absolutely!

After having so many places to choose from, we’re so pleased we picked Le Bonheur, we really could not have hoped for better. The house was perfect for the whole family, young children through to the grandparents. Great pool and BBQ area, lovely views and the house was incredibly well equipped for a holiday villa. Lots of lovely local towns and markets (and vineyards!) to visit, just great, we’re hoping to come back soon!

Owner's Response: Dear G*** and family, Thank you for your 5* review. This is particularly significant to us as we know you run 3 small hotels yourself in the UK. We do our utmost to make Le Bonheur as welcoming as possible, so your positive commendation is very important to us. Kind regards Shirley

Peaceful and tranquil with the WOW factor

  • 5 of 5

We flew to Bordeaux airport, Le Bonheur was an easy drive within an hour. As we pulled onto the drive it was evident that the description was accurate. The view across the pool and garden to the vineyards and church on the hilltop were lovely. On entering the house, to our surprise was an extra bedroom, not shown on the website, beautifully appointed with an ensuite, and doors opening out to the garden and pool. The farmhouse kitchen was super with all the things you would want. Truly lovely and the hub of the house. Lounge well equipped and exactly as described as is the rest of the property. It is home from home with the added luxury of a fantastic pool and garden in a beautiful and peaceful location. There were two small towns nearby with markets, small bars and restaurants. This is rural France! Exactly what we wanted. Beautifully presented and actually better than described. A Gem

Le Bonheur est tres magnifique!

  • 5 of 5

Five friends from various parts of Australia and around the world met in Bordeaux in May last year. We stayed 9 wonderful nights at Le Bonheur, which was everything the photo's and website said it would be, and more! With enough space for everyone to have their own room, we were able to rest and relax when needed, but also take day trips to the great villages in the region. The information provided in the housebook was an excellent start to discovering the local markets, where we found wonderful local produce. We would gather each evening in the kitchen and dining room for drinks and amazing meals. The kitchen is very well equipped and it was easy for multiple cooks to share the space. The wifi access was also appreciated and easily coped with all of us on various devices. The early risers would often take the morning walk to the local village for our morning croissants, which was a real treat to wake up to. While it was a little cool for swimming, we still enjoyed some sunny days around the pool and having drinks on the patio. We will definitely be returning to Le Bonheur and have already recommended it to family and friends here in Australia.

Le Bonheur est super très bon!

  • 5 of 5

It was incredibly hard returning to normality following two splendid weeks at Le Bonheur. Our extended family had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very special property in its

lovely setting. Many hours were spent in the pool, playing table tennis, exploring the surroundings by foot, bike and car and dining both at the patio and the pool. The walk to get the bread from the bakery across the vale in the morning was also a very welcome chore.

The housekeeper, Victoria, was an absolute superstar who made sure we felt incredibly welcome on arrival. The property was immaculate. She was also very knowledgeable of the local area and more than happy to help us out in anyway. Possibly she was surprised each time she came to clean the pool to find so many people awake. However with five children below the age of three, if she’d come at 6am she still would have found signs of life!

The house itself is wonderfully appointed and was just ideal for what we needed. We particularly liked the variety of seating/dining areas and the FreeSat was a big hit with the kids when it came to

their daily fix of CBeebies. We will certainly be recommending to families and friends and I havealready started discussions with the family to return to Le Bonheur next year.
