Set in the beautiful Western Loire only 6km from the walled historic town of Chateaubriant, Hirondelle Farm nestles in the hamlet of Le Perray surrounded by peaceful fields of corn-on-the-cob and sunflowers. Hirondelle Farm is owned by Dave and Doreen Joyner, formerly of Bournemouth, UK Dave now runs ‘Splinters’ a complete renovation company. Whilst, Doreen, being an expert on holiday homes and all things French, is a regular guest on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 programme on the BBC. Hirondelle Farm is owned by Dave and Doreen Joyner, formerly of Bournemouth, UK. We have lived in France since 2001. We opened our first holiday home in 2002 and a second the following year.

Doreen purchased this cottage in 2000
We believe that honest reviews from our previous guests are our forte. We try to make everything simple and straightforward, from the instant you book the Stable. Whilst you are here, we are always available, but we will always respect your privacy too.
The Stable is available on a Bed & Breakfast basis from September to June.
‘Your photos on the internet don't do Hirondelle Farm justice. The photos show a lovely cottage, but we arrived to find a beautiful home, lovingly restored by Doreen & Dave. We have had a very comfortable stay, and the children had a wonderful time in the garden and pool. Thank you for all the little touches: nice wine in the fridge, flowers on the table, plus all the books and CDs’
‘Stayed last year in the Stable for 2 weeks - 3 weeks this year and still not long enough. The whole area is beautiful, the local French are lovely!
Doreen and Dave work very hard, nothing is too much trouble, two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet’ (P.S. We don't get out much!) xxx
‘Thank you for an absolutely fantastic week. The Stable was lovely with surprises hanging at every corner! There was so much to see and do we have had to save some for next time. Thank you again for all your hard work’
What a wonderful place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fantastic, well thought out and beautiful property. Hosts were amazing, Dave and Doreen have the balance just right - friendly, so helpful but thoughtful too - nothing too much trouble. A lovely little hamlet, felt rural but so close to charming Chateaubriant, fantastic town. Booked for next year and can't wait to return! Highly recommended.
In a fit of pure selfishness I am tempted to lie and say this place is awful. That way I could guarantee that we could have it to ourselves!!
We stayed for the week with very kind weather and totally enjoyed the absolute peace and quiet that this lovely property offers. Doreen and Dave are a great couple who really make you feel very welcome. The local town of Chateaubriant has everything you need and the driving is a breeze with quiet roads and uncluttered streets.
The property itself is really well appointed with comfy beds (that's a first) and a kitchen diner that we felt at home in straight away. Our morning routine was putting the coffee machine on whilst the sun poured through the back door and tucking into croissant and jam. We took our daughters aged 11 and 17 with us and they both really enjoyed themselves. The swimming pool is a real bonus.
We liked it so much we handed Doreen our deposit back for next year.
Soooooo looking forward to it.
The Stable is excellent and very well equipped with everything you would need for a pleasant stay. Owners, Dave and Doreen were very helpful and friendly. A quiet position which we found really nice and only a short drive to nearest village and town for good shops and bars etc. Wednesday market is a must, and look out for the Chi Chi Man!! Major cities are close too, with Nantes worth a visit. Also look out for the lakes with crazy golf and the Chateau de Chateaubriant.
Beautiful place, amazing scenery, wonderful hosts, had a lovely time. Great to feel as if at home rather than under another's roof. Would be happy to recommend & be visiting again.
Beautiful clean and homely gite, fantastic owners who were friendly but not intrusive. Highly recommended! Can't wait to return.
My family have stayed here several times. We have three children, and found this a perfect place to explore France. Dave and Doreen have thought of everything. Relax in the knowledge that you are visiting a clean, tidy family friendly environment, set up by wonderful people. We love it. x
