La Noisette (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 5)
La Noisette — sleeps five people and retains its character and charm combined with modern conveniences. Internally, La Noisette has many exposed beams and two lovely fireplaces, one with a wood burner stove. It also retains its famous regional exposed honey-coloured stonework walls internally and externally. La Noisette has a large, romantic double bedroom and lounge on the ground floor, with some antique furnishings. There is a large twin bedroom and mezzanine area with a sofa bed (with a proper mattress) upstairs (accessed by a good staircase with limited headroom). The bathroom has been completely renovated for 2015. There is a private patio area complete with garden furniture and BBQ, giving access to the lovely garden and heated pool. La Noisette and La Chataigne can be opened up to sleep ten with comfort, with three bathrooms. The standard of accommodation and furnishings are very high and La Noisette contains everything to make your family holiday one to remember.
We fell in love with Les Arbres as soon as we discovered it in 2008. Our three gites are full of character, and together with the huge garden and beautifully situated pool, we could see at once that it would be perfect for family holidays. The gites, garden and pool are all situated on one side of a chemin rurale – a quiet cul de sac. Our home is opposite, so we are close at hand if you need us, but equally you are free to enjoy your holiday in privacy. The gites are stone built in the traditional local style and the rural landscape of the Perigord Limousin forms the stunning backdrop. We have made lots of improvements since we bought Les Arbres, including fresh new bathrooms, well equipped kitchens, top quality bed linen and towels, and cosy wood burners for autumn evenings. If you simply want to laze around, our huge garden is fully fenced so the kids can’t escape. The heated swimming pool has a fully approved safety fence and plenty sun loungers. Facing south, it catches the sun all day, and we clean it every morning for super sparkly water. There are swings, a proper boules court, table tennis, kids campfire and badminton. Each gite has its own private patio with BBQ, and there is a huge picnic table if you want to socialise. We have a good range of well-maintained bikes, and storage space if you bring your own. The area is fabulous for cycling, with well-maintained roads where it’s rare to see a car and a beautiful landscape of hills, forests and lakes. We can provide maps and even arrange a ride with the Piegut Cycle Club, which has up to two outings a week of 50-60km. Set in the Perigord Limousin Regional Nature Park our area is often described as “la France profonde” or “deep France.” Life has changed little for centuries and the culture is strongly rural and seasonal. We can tell you about secret and enchanted places to cycle, explore and swim, summer night markets where you can party like a local, vide-greniers antique markets where you can bag a bargain, plus charming village fetes where you can sit with friendly villagers and eat a communal meal. Along with quaint villages, historic towns, typical street markets, fairytale chateaux, river and lake canoeing, tree climbing, star gazing, bird and animal spotting, and fabulous local restaurants, you’ll find so much to do that you’ll have to return. Eight years on and having welcomed many visitors, settling here at Les Arbres has been the best decision we have ever made. But don’t just take our word for it; over the years we have consistently received wonderful reviews and many of our guests return year after year, often booking their next visit before they even leave. One guest described Les Arbres as “a magical, peaceful place” and an eight year old visitor shouted “I’m in heaven!” on arrival. This is your chance to experience the France that time forgot and create your own happy holiday memories.

About Gill Connors
Thank you for visiting our Owners Direct pages. We fell in love with France and the French lifestyle during lots of happy holidays and spent several years looking for our ideal home here. We always aimed to retire early to start a new life, and buying Les Arbres has helped us to achieve that dream. The three gites were already rented out successfully when we purchased the property, and we have made lots of improvements since then. We took early retirement to live here full time in 2011, and now enjoy meeting all our guests, many of whom re-book for the following year. Our house is just across the lane, so we are on hand if you need any help booking a restaurant or anything else. Equally we respect your privacy to enjoy your family holiday. Gill and Pat Connors.

Why Gill Connors chose Perigord Vert
This area of the Dordogne has lots going for it but is much less busy than other parts. We are situated in the Perigord Limousin Nature Park, so expect unspoilt countryside, lakes, forests of pine and nut trees, farms, heath and Limousin cattle. There is lots of wildlife including orchids and other wild flowers, deer, red squirrels, wild boar, buzzards, protected lizards and salamanders to mention a few. We love the slow pace of life, and although it takes a while to get used to the shops closing at lunchtime for two hours, you soon learn to do the same and enjoy lunch at one of the many good restaurants. Although we are still learning French, the people round here are friendly and helpful. Despite the quiet location there is lots to do; have a look at our website for ideas!

We are sure you can tell that we love Les Arbres and we think that you will as well - why not visit us and find out? Or follow us on Facebook.

We stayed at les Arbres for 7 nights and was looking for a relaxing family holiday in rural France and this did not disappoint. There was pretty much everything you needed to ensure a great break and the hosts were always on hand if you needed them without being intrusive. We were lucky enough to have other families staying in the other properties which made the evenings that more enjoyable and there is plenty going off both locally (markets etc.) and further afield, making it something for everyone. Would definitely recommend it to others and will hopefully be returning next summer.
Lovely and very child/toddler friendly.
Very nice and frendly, relax stay for our family of 3. Child frendly and very helpful owners. We would definitely recommend it and will come back. Lots to do in the area and lots of good food markets, restaurants and bakeries. It is a family friendly holiday destination, and ome week stay is perfect timing.
Fantastic property in a great location
We had a really lovely holiday staying in 'La Noisette'. The gite was well equipped and comfortable but what makes this a perfect holiday is the large garden with pool and games. We will definitely be booking again in the future! Thanks Gill and Pat for ensuring we had everything we needed.
2nd visit in 6 weeks. That's how much we loved it
We haven't been to France for years as we tend to go where sunshine is guaranteed. A plea from our 11 year old to give it a go meant that we discovered this beautiful part of the world. We first went in May. Shocking weather but still lots to do. We returned 6 weeks later. That's how much we loved it. Beautiful properties maintained to a very high standard. The outside space is also lovely with a great pool. These gites are perfect for a big group but equally perfect for a smaller family. Each has outside space that means you don't have to be sociable with other guests unless you want to. They are decorated beautifully with everything that you need in the kitchen and the bathroom is high spec. Lots to do in the sunshine or the rain. Lovely places to eat and we would recommend a visit to the lake which is very pretty and everything is free. Brantome is worth a visit. Lots of lovely places to eat and mooch around. Pat and Gill the owners are a delight. During our first visit Pat went out of his way to source things that would interest our 11 year old and we arrived to a beautiful fruit flan. They are everything you want in hosts/owners. They are there if required but completely unobtrusive. Always on hand with tip top recommendations that were spot on. This is going to be our go to place when our batteries require recharging.
Classic dordogne gite, well equiped large garden,
Lovely garden, 4 kms from piegut with its classic Wednesday market. Pool very clean. Eating on the terrace with candles and wine, wonderful. One very small quibble, attic bedrooms very hot at night despite fan so daughters slept downstairs. However temperature over 30 degrees so normally this would not be a concern, highly recommended, will return,
This was our 1st holiday where we had booked gites for accommodation, so we were a little apprehensive before arriving. Once we arrived and were shown around that apprehension disappeared and we were able to relax. My wife and I could not recommend the property enough.
The quality of the fixtures and fittings were second to none. The outdoor space was ideal for children with plenty of space for them to run around in and lots of things to keep them amused.
We stayed in 3 different gites, whilst on the holiday and this was by far and away the highest quality accommodation.
We would like to thank Gill and Pat again for providing us with a fantastic base for our holiday.

The village of St Barthelemy is about 3 miles away and features the famous Presbytere restaurant with its 5 course meal for 13 euros and beautiful views from the terrace. There are many other excellent local restaurants. See our website for more information about our favourite restaurants, great free days out and fun activities.
Les Arbres is nestled deep in the heart of the Perigord Limousin Nature Park. This is the famous 'Perigord Vert' region of the Dordogne, characterised by forests of nut and pine trees, heaths, lakes and wildlife. This beautiful region has retained its character and remains tranquil and unspoilt. The area is famous for its farm products, including foie gras, nut oils, truffles, nuts, ceps and duck products. You can buy fresh local produce at our local market at Piegut on Wednesdays. Our local village has food fairs on summer evenings which are great fun for locals and tourists. Wildlife is abundant, and there are red deer, red squirrels, wild boar, orchids and buzzards near Les Brousses. You will even find a pair of protected Green Lizards nesting near our Cottage! There is a wealth of treasures and heritage to explore in the area from caves, chateaux, medieval cities and picturesque villages along with some spectacular scenery. Whether you prefer cycling, trekking, fishing, horse-riding or canoeing down the rivers, wandering through the quaint old towns or eating and drinking, there is plenty to see and do. Free days out include market day in Piegut and Brantome, swimming lakes, cycling and walking, visiting villages such as Brantome and the 'Plus Beaux Villages de France' of St Jean-de-Cole and Aubterre-sur-Dronne, or just lazing in the garden. Other days out include canoeing (very popular with all our guests), the Grotte de Villars with its prehistoric cave paintings, stalactites and stalagmites, fishing , 10 pin bowling in a lovely village, go-karting, visiting chateaux, the WW2 site of Oradour-sur-Glane, the Perigord heritage village of Le Bournat, the Acquarium at Le Bugue, the spooky Maison Forte de Reignac, the fabulous overhanging Gardens at Marqueyssac and the gardens of the imagination at Terrasson.
