Fabulous location with stunning views over The Brenne National Park

A detached stone cottage in a small rural hamlet, five minutes from the lovely town of Chaillac, with its variety of shops, restaurants and swimming lake. The house has a beautiful first-floor terrace with uninterrupted views over open countryside, as well as a large landscaped garden and pool.

The house comprises a cottage-style dining kitchen with a pantry and utility room, two living rooms, one with a wood burning stove, three large sofas and television with both French and English channels and the second with a wide range of books, games and DVDs and a double sofa bed. This can also be used as a fourth bedroom.

There are three additional bedrooms, two large doubles and a mezzanine bedroom which has two single beds as well as a raised sleeping area which can be accessed via a small ladder. Two of the bedrooms lead out onto the upstairs terrace which has wonderful views over the valley. The terrace is furnished with two traditional wrought iron day beds and has a large wooden table and chairs which can be used for outdoor dining. The house has two bathrooms and comfortably sleeps up to 9 people. There are several outdoor seating areas, outside by the pool there are tables which can seat up to 10 people, you can eat on the first-floor terrace and there is also a small bistro-style table and chairs also under the trees at the front of the house. The landscaped garden is very secluded and has with several sun loungers by the pool, a large sun parasol and a covered gazebo area at the top of the garden. We provide a barbecue and a range of garden games such as badminton and boules sets.

The traditional country kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge freezer, dish washer, microwave and washing machine and well stocked with everything you need for your stay.

The house has WIFI, satellite TV, a DVD player and a huge selection of of books, films and board games to keep you occupied in the evenings.

The house is a very pretty traditional French country cottage with low beamed ceilings and exposed stonework and we have tried to keep it's rustic charm with authentic furnishings and simple decoration.

We bought the house 8 years ago whilst holidaying in the area. The location was lovely and the view from the upstairs terrace was so stunning that we couldn't resist it. As we are teachers in the UK (I teach French) we get to spend lots of time there during the school holidays and our friends and family also love it. The house is almost always full from April to September. We've rented it out for a few weeks each year and many of our tenants have returned the following year. Outside: There are large, enclosed gardens to 3 sides of the house as well as the first floor terrace. At the front of the house there is a shady terraced seating area with bistro style table and chairs. Behind the house there is a large teak table and chairs as well as a selection of steamer-style sun-loungers, plunge pool, gazebo and a barbecue. The garden has been landscaped with mature trees and flower beds. All the gardens have uninterrupted views of the countryside. There are also a range of outdoor games including boules and badminton nets and rackets. Utility Room: The utility room has a washing machine, ironing board, drying rack and iron as well as a Belfast sink. We can also provide a baby's high chair if requested. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We provide duvets and pillows, duvet covers, pillow cases and bathroom towels. The house is cleaned between visits and our English property managers will greet you when you arrive and show you around the house. Other: There is also a second lounge which can also be used as a fourth bedroom or games room. This has a double sofa bed and another armchair. There are shelves full of books, DVDs and videos and a large chest which contains a selection of board games.

Traditional house in a secluded rural location

Our family (5 adults and 3 children over 3 generations) had a lovely holiday. The weather was very hot, which made sleeping difficult, but the bonus was sitting out at midnight with a nice glass or 2 of wine and enjoying the wonderful view of the Milky Way. We had a slight problem initially with the pool but the owner couldn`t have been more helpful and it was quickly resolved much to the delight of the children. There is a lake with a beach quite nearby, which is very good for the children, but don't go there Monday or Tuesday when there are no facilities open.

Le Blanc is a nice town only a short drive away and worth a visit The house was well appointed with a nice garden to lounge or play in and I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a restful holiday.

Another wonderful holiday in Barbiere!

Yet again a fabulous holiday in a lovely house. Our third stay in this spacious, well-equipped and really comfortable house. It has everything to keep our large group of friends and family happy. The pool is great and there are lots of different places for us to relax together or separately. We love the area and always find new things to do as well as revisiting favourite places. Would highly recommend to everyone!

Peaceful, in a tranquil setting

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house with lots of rustic charm. Perfect for a 'get away from it all' family holiday, or ideal for couples just wanting peace. Loved the fantastic views from the balcony. The family loved the plunge pool and we really relaxed in the large garden. Ample space in the house for all 7 of us. Never felt on top of each other. Plenty of advice left on where to go etc, which is always a bonus. House was clean and well maintained. Beds very comfy..Haven't slept that well in ages. Thoroughly recommend this house to anyone who loves the countryside and the simple French way of life. Don't forget to visit Belle, the horse, just down the lane next to the house.

Beautiful!

Just back from a week away and wish we had stayed for longer.

The property was just as described and the photos almost do it justice. It was clean, well-presented and comfortable. The first-floor veranda was superb - stunning for meals and a haven during some heavy thunder-storms!

Quiet corner of France but easy to find beautiful towns & villages to wander through. Weather was a bit hit and miss so we were not able to take full advantage of local lakes and cycle rides. Great day out at Futuroscope with the kids (just over an hour away)

Shame there was no visitor's book...

To book first check availability and then from your phone/e-mail request we will send you a booking form with our terms and conditions. On receipt of a completed booking form, a 20% deposit is required within 7 days. The final payment is to be made no later than 6 wks prior to your visit. A £150 refundable deposit is also required to cover any breakages or damages and this can be paid by cheque or cash and will be collected by our property managers upon arrival and returned prior to departure.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally Saturday during the high season but can be flexible according to availability. We would ask our guests to depart by 10 am in order to allow cleaning for new arrivals whom we would welcome after 4pm.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
