Townhouse in Calahonda, Mijas Costa, Costa del Sol - Halfway between Marbella and Fuengirola in a Beautifully Maintained Peaceful secure gated Complex

If you are looking for sun morning, noon and evening then our Spanish haven is ideal for you. We love the fact that we can have leisurely breakfasts on the sunny veranda outside the kitchen, all day sun on the totally private rooftop solarium with magnificent sea views and afternoon/evening sun on the front patio, overlooking the beautiful gardens and swimming pool. If you fancy a BBQ, that's there as well. We are ideally located only 10 minutes drive from Marbella with its wonderful shopping and Fuengirola with its famous Aquapark and plenty of shopping and markets. We are 25/30 mins from Malaga Airport.

Gibraltar is 1 hour drive away (Remember to take your passport and sterling, although euro is accepted). Choice of 75 golf courses along the Costa Del Sol, some just 2 minutes drive away. Spanish villages of Mijas and Ronda well worth a visit. The new promenade,boardwalk stretching from La Cala via Calahonda to Cabopino is 6 kilometres long with stunning sea views and close up views of flora and seabirds. It is excellent for walking and cycling with very even surfaces. There are restaurants and bars along the promenade to relax and take in the beautiful views. We love our Spanish home and take pride in its homeliness, cleanliness, character and a home from home feel but with lots of sunshine!

We are a couple in our fifties who are both working in jobs where we are constantly dealing with customers.

We have a family of three children who are now in their twenties.

They love going to La Paloma with their friends.

Why Mary Curran chose Sitio de Calahonda

It was love at first sight!

As soon as we walked through the entrance gate we were immediately overawed by the beauty of the gardens and the typical Andalusian style houses. We did not want a very confining apartment, probably with just a balcony, so we were amazed at the amount of space in this house with front garden, back terrace, solarium and three levels. The house felt really homely and our teenage children thought it was ideal.

The complex was beautiful with both the gardens and the houses well maintained.

It was very peaceful and private but still only 3 minutes walk to all amenities.

The neighbours were very friendly and welcoming and were so helpful in telling us about the locality, restaurants, supermarkets etc. Best purchase ever!

What makes this house unique

We love the peace and quiet of the complex as we deal with clients every day of our working lives.

We love the Spanish look and furniture and the beauty of the gardens. We can watch our family while they are swimming as we enjoy a nice cup of tea or a glass of vino in garden!

We never need the car to get to all amenities as well stocked supermarkets and excellent restaurants just 3 minutes walk away.

We love walking on the beach which is 10 minutes walk away.

We spend every morning on the back terrace outside the kitchen having a relaxing breakfast.

We enjoy lovely views from our front garden and the solarium. We feel so safe as it is a gated community.

Our children love going there, even with us, as they can lose us by sunbathing on the solarium/pool while we enjoy our own space.

We had a wonderful holiday. The house was perfect and met all our requirements, very homely, spotlessly clean, peaceful and relaxing. There is a lovely pool and garden. Excellent restaurants close by at very reasonable prices. There is an excellent Supersol supermarket within a 2 minute walk from the house. We visited Marbella, Puerto Banus, Nerja, Mijas, Ronda and Istan in the mountains, all within an easy drive from La Paloma. We will be back. - R.G.

Notes on accommodation: Our house is such a haven of peace and tranquility and yet is just 3 minutes walk to supermarkets, restaurants, bars and shops. Being a townhouse we get sun at all times i.e. in the back patio for sunny breakfasts, in the front garden for leisurely lunches with a glass of wine and also constant sun on the upper solarium. It is an ideal place for a family as our garden overlooks the swimming pool so you can watch your children at all times. Ideal also for people who wish to have a drink at night and thus cant drive. Excellent restaurants, bars and nightlife at very reasonable prices beside us. More guest reviews: We have recently returned from your lovely house in Calahonda. We had a great time and hope to return very soon. The house had a very warm and welcoming feel to it, a great pool, sun all day and a great location. Everything was spotlessly clean. What else can we say only super. Regards Carole V. Outside: Gated community with security system. Entrance with welcoming floral display and seating. Beautiful landscaped gardens in immaculate condition. Always very colourful. Large 20 x 15 metre swimming pool centrepiece of complex. On street private parking. Lots of garden furniture. BBQ. Utility Room: Sun beds,sun chairs, umbrellas, lounger cushions, Charcoal BBQ, inflatables, toys, buckets and spades, vacuum cleaner, mop, bucket, sweeping brush, cleaning detergents and sprays. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are provided (1 hand towel and 1 bath towel per guest). No beach towels provided. Cleaning done before arrival of guests and immediately after departure. No extra charge for cleaning. Washing machine and outdoor clothes line provided. Other: Dining area with pine table and four cushioned chairs, nest of tables, breakfast bar

peace and quiet

Lovely house in complex. It was very peaceful and gave us the opportunity to relax. Conveniently located to local supermarkets and restaurants, cafes. Would definitely like to go again.

Truly lovely holiday home in beautiful complex

We really enjoyed staying in the apartment in August - having access to front and back patios, meant that in the heatwave, we could seek out the shade rather than the sun at all times! The house was very clean, well equipped and spacious - we took our own espresso coffee pot ( we don't travel without it) but apart from that the apartment had everything we needed - even shopping bags for the short walk around the corner to the supermarket.

The pool was glorious, very clean and rarely busy. It does differ from the photo on the listing because it has a glass wall around it. This makes very good sense for families with little children as there is no chance of them wandering into the pool unsupervised. The grounds were very well maintained, with sprinklers surprising us every night on the front patio, and beautiful flowering plants.

There are plenty of facilities nearby, the boardwalk is perfect for avoiding the busy coastal road and transport links were frequent, cheap and reliable.

Beautiful house in a perfect easy to find location.

We had a wonderful stay at La Paloma. The lovely house is very clean, meets all requirements and is on a beautiful complex with very nice pool. Only a 20-25 minute drive from the airport and very easy to find from the owners directions.

Perfectly situated for visiting the other many lovely areas along the Costa del Sol coast if you like to explore or simply enjoy the peace and quiet relaxing in the beautiful garden and grounds of the complex.

A short walking distance to the beach and boardwalk, many lovely restaurants and a supermarket.

We loved it so much we didn't want to leave, and can't wait to visit again.

La Paloma lived up to the photos!

Lovely restful holiday in great location. October was a perfect time to go as was so quiet and peaceful and yet the weather was still gloriously sunny. Everything was excellent from the initial contacts with Mary, the pick up from the airport through to final drop off. Lovely clean and comfy town house with all amenities . Enjoyed walking by the beach, trips out, choice of restaurants and long evenings sitting in the garden.

Lovely House in a great location

I would like to thank you for a wonderful stay at your house, the house is very spacious, a lovely top terrace with great views of the mountains and sea. The house has everything you need, and there were nice little touches including, books, playing cards, pool inflatables and toys.

The grounds the house are situated on are very well kept and so pretty, the pool is fab, very quiet and safe for little ones, I have serious holiday blues and can’t wait to come back.

The area was so convenient, supermarket, bars and restaurants all a couple of minutes’ walk away.

I highly recommend Da Vinci’s we had 3 fabulous meals, seriously I would of eat there every night, the service and food you receive is outstanding and so reasonable, steaks are 14 euros, Pizzas and Pasta around 8 euros. A glass of wine for 2 euros and a pint for 3 euro.

I also tried the Chinese restaurant “Hong Kong” which was also lovely and very reasonable.

We booked a shopping trip to Gibraltar with Calypso travel (by the petrol station) this cost was 16 euros and is well worth a visit, for perfume and cosmetics go to 165 on the high street in Gibraltar you get great discounts!

Cant praise the area or house enough.

New 6 km.promenade/boardwalk from Cabopino to La Cala with access from Calahonda Beach is approx. 8 mins walk away from house, Also sandy beaches at Cabopino approx 5 mins drive away which has many watersports. La Cala beach is also 5 mins drive away in the town of La Cala which has outdoor Spanish markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Outdoor market 5 mins walk away in Calypso (beside La Caixa Bank) on Thursday mornings with many restaurants and coffee shops nearby. There is also a flea market in Calypso on Sunday mornings All outdoor markets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (weather permitting)


Malaga Airport approx 35kms from house. Drive takes 25 - 30 minutes depending on whether you take the coast road or the tolled motorway. Exit off motorway just 2 minutes from house. If you would prefer to be collected from the airport and returned to the airport after your holiday, this can be arranged. The cost is in the region of £40 each way.

Supermarkets 2 minute walk. Local supermarket Supercor in nearby Riviera Del Sol open 24 hours 7 days a week which is essential for guests who arrive on Sundays as all other supermarkets are closed.. Trafalgar Bar is a lively disco bar in El Zoco only 3 minutes walk away. Also Our Bar sports bar with karaoke, party and quiz nights with very reasonable prices in El Zoco. Night Club Legends in La Cala 5 minutes drive away.

25% deposit by Paypal, cheque or bank transfer payable on booking. Balance due 5 weeks before arrival when all details re directions, maps and keys will be forwarded. Rates from £340 to £550 per week. For bookings more than a week reductions can be made if cleaning is not required on the middle weekends. All cleaning products and appliances are supplied.

Changeover Day:
Saturday is the preferred changeover day but we are flexible to facilitate cheaper flights midweek. We ask guests to arrive after 2pm and vacate before 11.00 am to facilitate cleaners.
However, this can be negotiated.

Notes on prices:
Payment can be made by bank transfer, Paypal or cheque. Prices are for the house per week in UK pounds. Discounts for 2 weeks or more if cleaning or laundry services are not required during your stay. Cleaning and laundry facilities available in house for guests' use free of charge. Please ask for details.
To facilitate cleaning we ask that you arrive no earlier than 2 p.m. and depart before 11 a.m. However, if you arrive earlier you can leave your luggage at the house and take a walk for lunch etc.until cleaning is complete. Regarding departure, if guests are not arriving immediately following your holiday we can negotiate a departure time.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
