About Victoria Turner

We are a married couple living in Surrey with two young children.

Victoria Turner purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Victoria Turner chose Lyme Regis and West Dorset

We loved the pretty village, it has a rural feel, but with lots of places to visit nearby. The cottage is within walking distance to the local public house. We liked the idea of being close to things, but not having to put up with the noise and traffic.

What makes this cottage unique

The village has a great community feel, we are always getting vegetables offered from the local allotments. Our children love the beaches, there are plenty to chose from, even in peak season they don't get packed and easy to park.

We love going for walks, both in the countryside and along the coastal path. Our walks normally involve a pub lunch!

Dorset is a food lovers area. Lots of great public houses and restaurants, we find the food to be of a high standard and generally fresh produce. You cannot beat fresh seafood, with a sea view!

Quiet and homely

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was just what we had hoped for: very good facilities, good sized rooms throughout and close to the coast and within beautiful countryside. The village people were friendly: the local shop (run by volunteers) in particular.

The parking was opposite the cottage so that was convenient. The cottage had toys and games for our grandchildren (aged 4 and 7) and the 2 bathrooms (one ensuite) was very welcome in addition to the downstairs toilet. The back yard allowed for drying facilities.

There was plenty of useful information and a welcome bottle of wine!

Very comfortable for two adults plus two children or three adults

  • 3 of 5

As the weather was very hot for several days we would love to have had a parasol on the terrace but there wasn't one sadly. The kitchen was good but turning burgers over and bacon a pair of tongs would have helped but it didn't have them, these are minor complaints as overall we were happy.

Very Comfortable Dream Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We arrived to find a thoughtfully modernised cottage with spacious rooms halls and an easy staircase. There is loads of equipment, ample parking and an attractive sunny rear garden with ample room for relaxing, eating and clothes drying. Reluctantly I have to advise that we found the dishwasher was very noisy when in use and sounded as though the pump was about to blow up. Also the shower temperature and flow rate was affected by any other use of water by machines, loos, people in the house. An electric shower may be ideal but we got round the problems by closing the kitchen door when dishwashing and letting others know when showering (until they forgot-oops sorry!) Otherwise 5 stars. We really did have a great week in this lovely friendly accessible village. Thank you!

Comfortable and well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

We (party of four adults) had a lovely week here in early June. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped and there was plenty of room for us all. The en-suite in the master bedroom is small but well equipped and has a good sized shower cubicle (be careful though if someone else runs hot water while you are using this!). There is s nice paved area out the back that is private and catches the sun.

Broadwindsor is a lovely little village and we enjoyed walking up to the craft centre for morning coffees or light lunches. The village pub, the White Lion, cooked us an excellent dinner one night. Also recommended is the Admiral Hood in Mosterton. The school across the road caused no problems and we barely heard the children - Dorset kids must be quieter than London ones!

All in a lovely week and would happily stay here again.
