Description

The Threshing Barn (Sleeps upto 8 + infants, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms)

Brimming with quality “cosy, spacious, well-equipped, peaceful, delighted, spot-on or great location” are just some adjectives used by guests for Threshing Barn; whether couples or smaller parties taking advantage of low season partial occupancy deals or extended families or friends together on their holiday or wedding.

Upstairs are 4 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms accessed via a spiral staircase. Each bedroom has beautiful furnishings with oak beams, "comfortable quality beds", lovely duvets and sheets, plus separate bedside lights. The bunk bed room is simply lovely being a favourite of one of the owner’s teenage boys, so kids won’t be disappointed if they find themselves in there. One bathroom even has a slipper bath. Downstairs features a beautifully furnished dining area, living room with triple settees, fully fitted kitchen, plus very useful toilet & shower room. Extras like information folders, BT infinity, pampering treatments, child or even pet sitting simply add to the experience.

Lovely place, had everything we needed and very relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for two young families to stay over the New Year period, all child friendly including stairs gates and excellent layout on the ground floor as all open plan. Highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Dear Roz I am so glad you and your friends found Threshing Barn perfect for your needs. We have introduced a number of extras over the years to make Threshing Barn child friendly, which includes the stairgates, which other parties have appreciated, as we don't want toddlers, toddling off on their own! Mum and dads can then relax. It was lovely seeing Cloe and Jacob having fun and can't wait to see the duo performing with their guitars, though may need to give a few years! Thanks for taking the time to write and highly recommending. See you again. Martin & Kim.

Peaceful Christmas at the Threshing Barn

  • 4 of 5

The property description is accurate but we did not take into account how narrow the spiral staircase is when lifting suitcases and for erderly members of our party, however it did not spoil our Christmas break.

The property was clean, well maintained and a lovely touch was the bottle of wine, mince pies and Christmas card from the owners. There was a lovely Christmas tree with all the trimmings and lights outside the property which made it feel very festive.

The owner is an excellent landlord and looked after us very well.

On Christmas Eve we had dinner at the Orange Tree in Torbay which was superb. We opted for the tasting menu and could not fault anything. The owners wife was our hostess and nothing was too much trouble.

On Boxing Day we went down to the beach which was lovely and we would highly recommend a stay at this delightful property.

Owner's Response: Dear Adeline Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review and highly recommend others stay at ‘our delightful property’ plus your kind comments about me! We are so pleased you liked our extra touches to make a more festive experience. We very much value our guests’ custom, realising they can pick others and in fact, throughout the year, we leave ‘welcome goodies’ to all guests appropriate to the season, as a little thank you. The Orange Tree is certainly a favourite recommendation to guests; not least because of the wife’s excellent hosting and I must agree guests have found our local beaches gems for walks. Historically old properties had what are known as ‘newel’ staircases (modern day words ‘spiral’) and so, in keeping with a Grade 2* 'National Important' historical property a spiral staircase was put in place. Over time we have realised carrying suitcases up a spiral stair, that guests aren’t normally used to, can be tricky as there is a knack and so, as part of our extra concierge service, offer to carry these up for guests if they want, but with the missed timing of greetings, I am sorry this wasn’t explained, though glad it didn’t spoil your break. Thank you once again for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you all back. Martin and Kim.

Family week in Torquay

  • 5 of 5

Lovely barn conversion and very comfortable throughout. There was everything provided that we could possibly need.

As we were out most of the day we didn't put the TV on much. It had freeview and there were some DVDs to watch. The settees were so comfortable and cosy. The dining table seated 8 but we had 9 and a high chair. It was plenty big enough for us. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. The washer came in handy. There were 2 fridges , a freezer and plenty of cupboard space. We did a large Asda shop when we arrived and ate in every evening. We took a picnic with us during the daytime, having the freezer meant we had ice sheets to keep it fresh all day.

There was a toilet and shower downstairs and upstairs 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. The beds were comfy and the linen clean and fresh. Towels were provided.

Martin our host was very friendly and provided endless information on walks beaches and places to eat. We had a Chinese takeaway on Martins recommendation for our last evening meal and it was the best I've tasted. A wonderful holiday location and plenty of room for a large family or friends.

Totally laid back and relaxed

  • 5 of 5

We came for a family holiday with two infants in tow to a beautiful barn and surroundings, owned and run by a lovely family whose hospitality was memorable. Cockington is gorgeous and the zoo brilliant. Totally laid back and relaxed, we have all had a fabulous week.

A little bit of heaven

  • 5 of 5

It has been such a lovely place to stay. Comfortable, spacious rooms, very well equipped kitchen and a home away from home. Such a beautiful town full of friendly people with lots to do at the harbour. We recommend taking a visit to Brixham, a beautiful little town where we travelled to by boat which was very cheap and bought some fantastic fish and chips! If you are looking for a home from home then this is the place to relax and unwind and take in your surroundings. Thank you for your warm welcome, bottle on wine and cake, it was a lovelt touch. Summer (2 ½ years old) loved it and called it “heaven” and wants to come back! Thank you again.

Nice accommodation and nice welcome

  • 5 of 5

The barn looked lovely on the internet and was; nice accommodation and nice welcome. Martin was very approachable and would do anything for you. There were plenty of places to find and what we enjoyed the most was Goodrington beach, which had water slides and places to go for food and drink. Thank you.
