Updated: 11-Jul-2016
Gite in Medillac, Nr. Chalais, Poitou Charente, France - Rural Location With Beautiful Walks 6km From The Market Town Of Chalais

Chez Fely cottage is independent of the owners property. Set in rolling Charentaise countryside, with beautiful walks and cycleways. 6km from the bustling market town of Chalais with it's imposing chateau and renowned restaurant. Just 15 mins from Aubeterre, 40 mins from Angouleme and only 40 mins from the vineyards of St Emilion and an hour from Bordeaux. The property has a beautiful, secure 12 x 6m pool with shaded area. There is a trampoline, table tennis and a selection of board games DVDs and WiFi. Also, plenty of toys and equipment for younger children. We are 5 mins from The Dronne river where there is canoeing and fishing, 10 mins from the water park at Paradou and only 15 mins from Aubeterre noted for being one of the 100 most beautiful villages in France. Here you can spend the day on the river beach and walk up into the village for a beer or carafe of wine and eat in one of the many lively cafes.

A lovely relaxing holiday with lots to see and do in the area. Thanks very much. Feel sure we will see you again. - Tim, Geraldine and Grandchildren,

'Hi Simon, Ros, we would like to say a big thank you to you all for making us feel so welcome in your home. We had a fantastic holiday, just what we were looking for with peace and relaxation in beautiful surroundings. The house was equipped with everything we needed and we found the decor tasteful and in keeping with the house...' - Lorraine, Mark and Family

Hi Ros - just to say thanks for a lovely holiday – we had a great time. Thanks for sharing your home and making us feel very welcome. All the advice about where to go and what to do in the area was really helpful and we will have some great memories. The weather we have come back to is pretty rubbish & I’m already feeling envious of your new tenants enjoying the sunset and views from the pool. Thanks again to you, Simon and the girls.

Kind regards. Lorna x

We really enjoyed our holiday at "The Cottage". It is full of charm and character, very clean and well equipped with everything required for a very comfortable stay. The outside table enjoys the sun all day long, making a wonderful location for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with beautiful views over the rolling countryside.

We all loved the excellent swimming pool which enjoys sun without interruption all day long. The terrace has plenty of sun loungers and enjoys the same view as the cottage. There's table tennis, a trampoline and swings which kept our younger children entertained.

We didn’t travel too much during our stay, just a few visits from their information packs or as suggested by Ros and Simon. The town of Chalais has a bustling market on a Monday. Slightly further away is the beautiful village of Aubeterre sur Dronne with good shops, restaurants, and bars. There's a waterpark up the road and other good restaurants locally. St Emilion is well worth a trip, with the tour of the vineyards and the Caves followed by sightseeing around this beautiful ancient town, and plenty of good restaurants.

This was our third year with a Gite and this was by far the best property. We all have no hesitation in recommending "The Cottage" – it was everything we had hoped for and so much more. None of us wanted to leave.
