The owners were the perfect hosts. Friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. The cream tea that greeted us on arrival and fresh produce from the garden were appreciated.

We had a fantastic time, the cottage was lovely and we received such a warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and we even borrowed some of Kates DVDs. Would definately return and have already recommended it to others.

From the Owner

The courtyard cottage is in the grounds of our house. Once the estate office for one of Lord Harlech's estates, we had great fun turning it into a comfortable and characterful base for exploring and enjoying this lovely part of the UK. It is really well placed for visits to both rural and metropolitan destinations. Easy road links to Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Chester. Within a very short distance of great Welsh scenery and lots of industrial heritage related to both railways and canals.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : manchester at 60 Kilometres Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Less than a mile from Offa's Dyke in excellent walking country and in an area that is good for mountain biking, the cottage makes a great base for activity holidays. Really good downhill & cross country mountain biking tracks and courses in the area. Canoeing & white water rafting, Llama trekking and horse riding are all available nearby. There are also fishing lakes suitable for children and fly fishers.

North Wales and West Wales coast are about an hour and a half drive away.

Lakes with sailing within one hour.

Nearest airports are Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, all are around 1 hours drive. Car hire while not essential would help as the nearest bus service is in the town, one mile away.

Nearest town Oswestry 1 mile. Chester & Shrewsbury 20 miles.

Further Details:

We are pleased to report that we have had unanimous praise in our visitors book and always do all we can to deliver everything we promise and more!

From the Owner

Kate has incredibly green fingers and for almost 12 months of the year some sort of produce is available from the garden. The complimentary cream tea or mini Victoria sandwich on your arrival are legendary, as is her homemade jam. Our resident llamas, Bella and Aphrodite and the badly mis-named guanaco Dalai are decorating our surrounding fields, A massive collection of videos and DVDs will help if you are unlucky with the weather.
