Farmhouse in Fontana, Gozo, Malta - 5 min walk from the Capital Victoria, and Nearest Beach, Close to all Amenities

Theodore is situated in a typical stone arched alley in the heart of Fontana, Fontana is at the start of the Verdant Valley that leads to Xlendi Bay - the ruggedly beautiful creek. Entrance to this farmhouse is from a humble, unassuming facade, which however opens onto an amazing open space consisting of a large living dining and kitchen area measuring 28 by 28ft in size overlooking the pool area which has a glass mosaic pool measuring 20 by 15ft. Also downstairs there is an internal courtyard and a large shower room. A stone staircase leads upstairs to 3 bedrooms, a wooden staircase leads further up to a 4th bedroom a bathroom with laundry facilities, and a large terrace enjoying views of the nearby villages, countryside and distant sea. It has been recently restored using original methods, materials and displays typical and original features, which benefits it's location in this old village. Very conveniently located, close to amenities, yet enjoying the luxury of tranquility.

About The Owner

I am a Maltese living in Gozo with my wife who is a Gozitan, and 2 children, Francesca and Gabrielle. We are into the watch and clock business and we own a shop in Vitoria. we sell, repair and restore time pieces. I am also a trombone player in a local brass band.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2005

Why The Owner chose Island of Gozo

The main reason we bought this house is mainly it's location and character. It's back yard is adjacent to our back yard and when we were building our own house we contacted the owners in Australia to make a deal, but nothing came out of it. We waited 10 years and decided to give it a go and this time we managed to buy it. The house was almost in ruins as it was uninhabited since 1952. The owners left to Australia and never returned thus resulting in many damages due to water leakages from the roof. It was such a mess but nobody saw it's potential when restored except us. First and foremost the house is tucked away in an alley and enjoys nice country views, while still being close to the main road of Fontana and close to the city centre which is very convenient for tourist.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Theodora enjoys an excellent comfortable layout and it is set on 150 metres 2 of land. This house was not built for commercial use but after considering the huge expenses needed to restore it, we put it on the market. We were very keen to the original layout and stone work and therefore kept as much as we could of the original features. Theodora, unlike most of the farmhouses on Gozo does not form a part of a cluster but it is set on it's own in a very tranquil location, enjoying the convenience of local stores a few metres away.

Everything we had hoped for and a little bit more

I had not done this type of booking before and was a little nervous but Celestine (the owner) was extremely helpful.

The villa is absolutely wonderful. Cool, quiet (apart from one cockerel who I hope is now in a pie) beautifully decorated and restored. The pool is clean, the bathrooms are fantastic, the bedrooms are cool. The local amenities are perfect for a quiet holiday (grocery, bakery, pharmacy etc) and all within walking distance. Our daughter got chicken pox whilst we were there and we had to stay longer. Luckily we had flown out midweek and the villa was not booked until the Sunday so we were able to stay. Again, Celestina was wonderful and so helpful. We are hoping to go back next year. As long as you are not booking the week we want - go - you will not regret it.

Notes on accommodation: Property consists of a large living area measuring 28sq.ft, overlooking a glass mosaic pool and pool area. large bedrooms measuring 14ft by 14ft. a very sunny terace measuring 28ft by 14 ft. it is very well restored and many original features were kept. it is very comfortable because of it's layout and size. ideal for families who wish to spend a holiday in a quite area but yet very close to the city. Outside: Outside is a private large pool measuring 20ft by 15ft and is cleaned weekly. The outside area has sundecks, tables and chairs and an open fire barbecue. On the terrace there is also deck chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided and are changed weekly. Maid service is also provided weekly.
