Villa on Alto Golf & Country Club, Alvor, Western Algarve - Superb Facilities in Resort, Close to Village and Beach

Our superbly-equipped villa is in a prime position on the exclusive Alto Club resort in Alvor, set in its own secluded, mature gardens with a private, 6m x 4m pool (heated by request on booking at an additional cost of £75 per week) , Jacuzzi, multiple terraces, sauna, air-conditioning and log-burning fire. Both Alvor’s scenic fishing harbour and fabulous 4km sandy beach are within 15 minutes’ walk or 5 minutes’ drive. As well as the villa’s own extensive facilities, guests also have full use of the amenities of Alto Club, including outdoor and indoor pools, tennis courts and gym. Alvor has many excellent restaurants, offering local dishes and cuisine from around the world. There are beautiful coastal walks and enchanting sandy coves close to the villa and many places of interest within a short drive. Dolphin watching, sightseeing trips and offshore fishing are all available from Alvor harbour. Extensive nightlife is only 5km away at Praia da Rocha and nearby Portimão has a wealth of shops, retail parks, entertainment centres and museums.

Lovely house with a beautiful garden

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Monchique. We were a party of 7 adults. Very near to the town centre and the beach. Enough towels and beachtowels. House very clean at arrival. Lamps that were not working were repaired the same day.

We loved restaurant Restinga Praia where we had lunch/dinner a couple of times. When staying at Alto Club you get discount on the beds at the beach.

Thank you very much for an unforgettable stay.

Good family accommodation

We have stayed in villa 1 many times and enjoyed each stay. It was a great shame that the hot tub was not working for both this stay and our previous stay. All reported issues were dealt with very quickly by Steve and Elizabeth, but unfortunately the BBQ gas ran out as we turned it on and a new one was not delivered until the next day! We were very comfortable in the villa, but maybe could have done with another linen change (1 in 12 days). These things would certainly not stop us coming back to villa 1. There were a lot of ants but plenty of ant powder available to treat this.

ideally situated villa in perfect surroundings

This was the second year we have stayed at villa 1 .I stayed here with my daughter her husband and my granddaughter as well as my son. The accommodation in the villa was perfect with each having our own rooms and bathrooms. It is generally well equipped as well as being within walking distance of the beach and the town. Elizabeth and Steve were very responsive to emails and the property was clean. I would definitely recommend this property and will hopefully be returning again next year. Alvor is perfect for families with young children and the bars and restaurants welcoming. I can recommend Shenanigans bar and Lusitania restaurant

Great place

2 families with young children, stayed here for 2 weeks. Lovely, clean, spacious accommodation, great onsite facilities. Agent in Alvor was very helpful. Within 15min walking distance from the amazing beach and centre of Alvor with its fabulous restaurants and bars. Also used airport transfer arranged via accommodation, reasonably priced and good service. Overall a brilliant holiday and would definitely come back to this villa.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Faro Airport at 60 Kilometres Nearest Train : Portimão Trian Station at 5 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Alvor Beach at 1 Kilometres


Alvor beach is 4km long, clean, sandy and unspoilt. The east end of the beach has coves and rock formations typical of the Algarve. The salt flats to the west are an internationally-recognised site for bird watchers and other naturalists. Several others of the Algarve’s renowned beaches are within a short drive.


Faro airport is 70km away (approximately 50 minutes’ drive). Transportation to/from Alvor can be arranged at advantageous rates. Public transportation in and around Alvor is plentiful and reasonably-priced. Car hire is available at several outlets in Alvor as well as at Faro airport.


Portimão is about 5km, Lagos 17km and the spa town of Monchique 20km. Lisboa is approximately 3hrs by motorway and the Spanish border a little over an hour.

Further Details:

Alvor has shops, restaurants, bars, market, supermarkets, hospital, banks, post office, etc. There are cultural and historical attractions at Portimão, Lagos, Silves, Faro and many other places. Shopping complexes are available in Portimão, Guia, Faro and other locations. The western Algarve coastline is dramatic and beautiful, Cape St. Vincent being the most south-westerly point in Europe. The Monchique hills, inland, are famous for their spa, chicken piri-piri and cork products. The recently-opened Autodromo do Algarve, claimed by many to be the finest motorsport venue in the wold, is around 20 minutes’ drive from Alvor.

Outside: The villa is situated in a cul-de-sac and surrounded by mature gardens and hedges. Access is via wrought-iron gates and a traditionally-cobbled drive. The private 6x4m pool can be illuminated at night. The pool terrace (accessed from the living room) is partly-covered, south-west facing and has sun-beds and parasols. The jacuzzi and a hammock are located in the covered area. The side terrace has a gazebo roof with adjustable pleated shading, gas BBQ, table and chairs. A gated external spiral stairway leads from the pool terrace to the first-floor roof terrace (which can also be accessed from both first-floor bedrooms) with large parasols, comfortable sofa, armchairs, drinks table, sun-lounger and views over Alvor. A further gated spiral stairway leads to the second-floor roof terrace, which has a small table and chairs and stunning views towards Lagos and the Monchique hills. Exterior lighting and security cameras are strategically placed around the property. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels for bathroom, pool, beach and kitchen are provided.
