Villa in Puigpunyent near Palma Mallorca - Secluded And Private, Mountain Views, 5 Bedrooms With Luxury Master Suite And 3 Min Walk To Village

Sa Taulera (the tiler) is a particularly individual house, named for its characteristic and many tiled roofs. Originally the site was used to make traditional Mallorquin roof tiles before being converted into an extensive family home. Although single storey, the house is set into the mountain creating large rooms on different levels. Completely restored in 2008 this property has been brought up to date with tasteful fixtures and fittings and every comfort for a home from home holiday. The terraces are extensive and private with a 10m x 4m swimming pool for the exclusive use of guests. The property also boasts a traditionally roofed gazebo/outdoor lounge with TV for relaxing in the shade with a cool drink. An ideal place to gather for an aperitif before going out for dinner or enjoying a lovely meal or BBQ by the pool in the atmospheric lighting of Sa Taulera by night. The trees, mountain and the superb 5 Star Gran Hotel Son Net provide a striking backdrop for a perfect balmy evening.

Aug '12 - “Utterly perfect - a magical destination and beautiful home from home”. We had a wonderful, memorable stay at Sa Taulera Casa in summer 2012 with my husband and a small group of friends. It is a fabulous house, extremely spacious, well equipped and elegantly designed. I wish it was my own home! The outdoor area is amazing - there is a lovely pool, warm but still refreshing, and a huge private terrace around it with plenty of comfortable loungers. We spent blissful afternoons dipping in and out of the pool.

July '12 - Just wanted to say many thanks for allowing us to stay in your wonderful villa. We all had a wonderful relaxing time and would very much like to return next year for 10 days this time - if you'll allow us!

P.S. The photos on Owners Direct don't do it justice!!

Perfect villa in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

No reviews can do this villa, and owner/manager team justice but I will try.

Firstly, location : within short drive to Palma, with fantastic supermarket about 20 min drive away. (Also a great sports shop to pick up any additional swimming gear or toys you might need). The village is great. Nice and small so it doesn't feel touristy. But a few really nice places for lunch/dinner/coffee plus a bakery for early morning pastries! The village supermarket is also really well stocked. The villa is just a few minutes walk from the village and feels wonderfully secluded. It is surrounded by trees and a lovely view across to the 5* hotel.

The villa is incredibly spacious, with more living space than needed even if you had to spend all your time indoors (which would be a tragedy!). The whole villa is sparklingly clean and all bedrooms are nicely decorated. And all have en-suites which is great in such a big house.

But the clincher is the outdoor space. A good sized pool (with plenty pool toys supplied!), a wonderful outside gazebo where you can get shade from the sun. It has a fan so siestas were often taken here! And it's a lovely place to have some drinks in the evening. The shaded dining area right next to the kitchen and beside the pool was perfect for relaxed meals.

Kitchen was stocked brilliantly for those that love to cook and there were two big dishwashers and giant fridge/freezers - required for a large group.

I could go on and on but these are the main points that I felt could be useful to prospective holiday makers, although it is tempting to keep this place a secret!

The owner and local manager (excellent English) made you feel like nothing was too much trouble and you really felt that they wanted you to have a great time.

Would unreservedly recommend this villa - how often can you say that?!

(We were 3 couples with 4 kids ranging from 5 to 9).

fabulous villa, wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

Wow, an amazing villa in a fabulous location. We have just returned from our family holiday, there were 12 of us (8 adults, 3 children and a 7 month old baby) and we all had an fantastic time. The villa is so spacious and so well equipt, everything you could possibly want. The children loved the pool and all the inflatables left for them to use, together with table tennis, toys, games, they had a wonderful time. The manager was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We visited Gran Hotel Son Net which is a twenty minuite walk away, but well worth the walk it was quite an experience, a beautiful building, exquisite food and wonderful service, highly recommended. I would have no concerns in recommending this villa to friends and family and if I can persuade the family to holiday again with me I would love to return to Sa Taulera

Gorgeous villa in idyllic location

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this booking was excellent .Communications and arrangements with the owners and local agent were very easy and helpful. Karen's comprehensive information pack made for a smooth arrival and instantly allowed us to get on with enjoying the beauty of the surrounding area. The villa is fully equipped with ample kitchen equipment if you wish to eat in. However, local restaurants of high quality are only a few minutes walk away in the picturesque village . All in all we could not fault anything about our stay and thoroughly recommend the villa and location .

Big family fun!

  • 5 of 5

There were 11 of us ranging in age from 18 to 55 and we had so much fun at this villa. It caters for everyone! The website doesn't do it full justice as it is simply gorgeous with stunning views as well as a delightful location. Lots of fun and some very happy memories!

The villa is beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. It is really spacious so you can always get away and find a quiet corner. Peter is on hand 24/7 if you have an emergency.

We particularly loved the outdoor gazebo/cinema as we did have mixed weather and this allowed us to be outside even if it did rain. Thank you Karen and Ray for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Fantastic place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

What have we enjoyed this wonderful home! Good beds, nice bathrooms, cozy atmosphere, beatiful swimming pool and fully equipped. Thanks to the care of the hostess, lacked nothing and we were very happy with the tip of the local agent for the 'secret' beach. We would love to come back again!

Location

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

The most popular activities in Puigpunyent for the active holiday makers are cycling and walking.

Puigpunyent is a well known attraction for the serious cyclist looking to get in some training.

For walkers there are many beautiful walks in the Tramantana and a wonderful hiking company we can put you in touch with for escorted walks. To mention a couple, The Puig de Galatzo offers a manageable and truly rewarding trek as the views from the top are simply breath-taking. Another is the walk from Puigpunyent to Galilea and Capdellà. The route takes in a series of ascents and descents, and cuts across woods and planed fields, with different views at each curve of the road.

Coast/Beach:

We are half way between the south coast beaches of Palma, Illetas, Bendinat and Puerto Portals which are 20 mins/10-15 kms and the west coast, Bunyalbufar, Deia and Valdemossa being a little longer on smaller more windy roads. Beyond Palma Nova and Magaluf are the stunning beach coves of Cap Falco and Portals Vells with it's carved cave chapel. and miles of pine woods. Its a further 10 minutes drive but the sea food beach BBQ is well worth it.

Travel:

Palma de Mallorca Airport is 20-25 minutes away and very easy to get to. You will need to hire a car. Taxis from the airport cost c.35 euros. The Port of Palma is 15 minutes by car with a number of fast and overnight ferries to Barcelona throughout the year.

Distances:

0.3km to the village bar, restaurant and shops. 12kms to Palma town and the nearest beaches. 22kms to the airport. 20kms to water parks.

Further Details:

Puigpunyent rests on the eastern slopes of the Tramuntana Mountains, quite close to Palma. It is well known as an area of exceptional beauty, surrounded by Vineyards, Country Houses and Farms that provide visitors with a taste of traditional Mallorca. Despite the rapid tourist developments that have taken place across much of the island over the last 40 years or so, Puigpunyent has for the most part remained very much a traditional Mallorcan Village. The supermarket sells all the basics you might need, including the best chicken and steak. There is a bank, 2 cash machines and a pharmacy. About 6 restaurants and more smaller bars. A village sports complex with tennis court, swimming pool, flood lit football pitches and a bar/cafe. There are organised walks through the mountains, cycling tours, riding stables and climbing groups based in the village or very close by. If you want a night out in the city, buses go to Palma until 7.30 on Saturday evening and a taxi back will cost 25 euros. A lovely trip is to get the old train (built in 1912) from Palma to Soller which takes you through the mountains for some amazing views. Soller is an exceptionally pretty town with both a Miro and a Picasso exhibition at the train station. Then take the tram to the Port, have lunch and chill out on on one of the pretty Soller beaches. Or if you don't fancy going into Palma, drive to the quaint village of Bunyola, have a coffee and ensamada before catching the train there to Soller. Or take a drive up to Deia, home of the poet Robert Graves. You can visit his house, have lunch at the tiny port and maybe take the coast road back via the market town of Andratx. A coast road with spectacular scenery of mountains, sea and cliff top views.
