About the property

Villa in Charco Del Palo, Nr. Mala, Lanzarote, Canary Islands - Peaceful Seaside Location, 2 Minutes Walk to the Beach

This delightful light and spacious townhouse in the beautifully kept, clean and tidy village of Charco del Palo in the north of the island, a few minutes by car from Costa Teguise. Charco del Palo is a unique village where naturists and non-naturists live happily side by side. The property is one of 10 on a small private complex with a great pool and lush green gardens. The property is open plan living with kitchen, dining room and lounge with front and rear terraces perfect for alfresco dining, private sunbathing and outdoor enjoyment. Upstairs are two bedrooms one double and one twin including a large dressing area. The village is a wilderness intact with amazing views of the sea and waves crashing against volcanic rocks, but at the same time it is totally possible to enjoy bathing in the naturally filling rock pools, just moments from your villa. Alternatively, simply hop in the complex pool just 5 steps from your front door and relax in the beautiful surroundings.

Relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was lovely - in a small complex. Wonderful to sit on the bedroom balcony with a cup of tea in the morning and look out towards the sea. It was very quiet and peaceful and we had the pool to ourselves. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. Our only complaint would be very unreliable TV reception but wi-fi was good. We loved the village of Charco del Palo and had a couple of good and very reasonable meals in one of the local restaurants - Cueva Paloma. Not haute cuisine but lovely fresh fish, pleasant service and friendly atmosphere. You definitely need a car but nowhere is very far away and driving about is easy. We will certainly return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Unfortunately the TV reception is related to the phone signal in the area. This is infamously bad, and always has been. So there is unfortunately not a lot I can do about this. Glad you enjoyed the place and area. Thanks

Lovely villa, well laid out and beautiful quiet spot to chill and relax: we will return!

  • 4 of 5

It didn't start well, as Fiona didn't have us booked in! So our holiday began with us appearing to break in, searching for the key (keep reading, it gets better!). Luckily Jackie, local housekeeper/barwoman extraordinaire appeared at that moment and sorted it all out with Fiona on the phone. We made our own beds and it was all a bit confusing on arrival, but the red wine Fiona sent later as an apology helped! Pool is unheated and too cold for me this time of year. However, once we grew accustomed to our quiet village, with just the sound of the palm trees rustling , the pigeons coo-ing in the trees, sunsets over the volcanic craters, we began to fall in love with the place. You definitely need a car, an open mind if you're not a naturist (we're not but we did get our kit off eventually: I recommend it and the international naturist community here is very friendly), and a willingness to self cater as there is only one pub and one restaurant in the village, food average. The local supermarket meets most of your needs though and other places to shop and eat are within easy driving distance. Try 'El Lago' in Punta Mujeres for excellent seafood. We had a great time, and will be back next January! Muchas gracias.

Peace and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a lovely holiday in Lanzarote, which is a great island to visit, particularly in the north where it is very unspoilt.

The village of Charco del Palo is a great place to stay if you like peace and quiet,. It is a very easy going resort, with great rock pools for the odd dip and sandy areas for sunbathing. There are 4 bars/restaurants in the village which are within easy walking distance of the villa.

The villa we stayed at was excellent, it was in a small complex

which is very well tended and the swimming pool is great. When we were there we had the pool to ourselves every time we used it.

If you enjoy walking, and the weather is not too hot!, there are some great walks along the coast and up into the hills.

If you intend visiting much on the island you would need to hire a car as there little public transport in the immediate area. But driving is good and the roads are generally excellent. Most of the best attractions are within easy driving distance, are low key and well worth a visit.

When we return to Lanzarote we will certainly have this villa at the top of our list for places to stay.

Location

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

5 mins by car to Arrieta - best sandy beach on the island.

20 mins by car to surf beaches and Famara.

25 mins to by car to Puerto Del Carmen.

10 mins by car to Costa Teguise.

35 mins by car to Puerto Calero.

2 mins by foot to local beach.

Travel:

25 minutes by car from Arrecife Airport. 45 minutes by car to Playa Blanca - Most southern tip of the Island. Day Trip to Fuerteventura. 15 minutes to the Northern tip of the Island.

Distances:

There is an unbelievable amount of things to do in Lanzarote, that people simply don't know about. There is every single possible water sports for all levels, surfing, just 5 minutes by car away at Arrieta beach, windsurfing in Costa Teguise also 5 minutes by car away, fishing in the village or any of the villages in the north. Try spending some time watching the locals catch the squid that get caught in the rock pools as the tide goes out. Kite surfing, scuba diving all around the island.

Further Details:

There are restaurants and supermarkets in the village itself as well as a bar and nightclub. A fabulous new wine bar allows you to sample local wines by the glass. You will find a larger supermarket in the next door village of Guatiza with a fresh deli counter. Guatiza also has a fabulous local bar. The food there is to die for and it is ridiculously cheap. A great peppered steak will set you back around 7 euros. Also, just 10 minutes drive in Costa Teguise you will find many more bigger supermarkets as well as every different type of restaurant you would like from Chinese to Indian to Mexican as well as fabulous local fayre El Boquadito, La Pikada, the French Bakery for coffee and Croissant that do excellent tapas warm and cold and great dishes of the day, very reasonably priced and excellent quality. Going further north you will find a fabulous choice of seafood restaurants in Arrieta just 10 minutes drive towards the north. There is also a great beach there with lovely sandy beaches and a superb beach bar cafe with great food and relaxing atmosphere, a particular favourite for our family. Just minutes by car from the Bird Park, Cactus Gardens, Mirador del Rio, Green Caves, and Valley of 1000 Palms. All beautiful and great activties to enjoy. If you like body boarding, quiet beaches and wonderful quiet and traditional fish restaurants head for Orzola and enjoy the beautiful views towards La Graciosa or hop on the ferry for a day trip. It takes only around 30 mins to get there and the beaches and biking around the islands is fabulous. We live on the island and have a host of knowledge, and we could blah on all day about every single village and town on the island as well as every good and bad spot. Instead of trying to second guess every ones' questions, give us a call or drop us an email and we can either call you back or answer your questions as fully and honestly as we possibly can. We won't sell you anything we don't think is what you are looking for.
