Shelbourne - Bungalow with Stunning Sea Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
Shelbourne - large 3 bedroom Bungalow with sea views and close to beach

Shelbourne is an attractive bungalow with outstanding views of sea and cliff on the edge of the picturesque village of Gorran Haven. The popular fishing harbour of Mevagissey is accessible via the coast path. The bungalow is situated directly on the SW Coast Path in a peaceful location ideal for walking and family beach holidays. It is in a good position to explore a large number of Cornish attractions, National Trust properties and many other beaches. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in particular are nearby.

This three bedroom spacious bungalow really is a 'home from home' with everything you could need.

Enjoy a cuppa or meal in the sunroom while watching the boats at sea and enjoy the incredible sunsets and sunrises. With games, puzzles, DVDs and books, as well as TV, DVD player and wifi, there's something for everyone in the large lounge. There are two large sofas (one a sofa bed) and a single seat.

The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher as well as all utensils and plenty of cupboard space and it's large enough for several cooks!

The master bedroom has an ensuite shower and toilet. Another bedroom has two single beds, while the third room has a single bed with pullout underneath if needed.

Sunbathe in the large garden with sea views or enjoy a cool drink or meal on the chairs outside.

There are surfboards, buckets and spades for the beach which is just minutes away down the hill. The safe beach and harbour is stunning, with plenty of rock pools to keep young ones entertained. With a convenience store with cafe, post office and freshly baked bread and a fish and chip shop; it's easy to find the basics in Gorran Haven.

The coastal footpath goes right past Shelbourne so why not enjoy a quick stroll to admire the views or stretch your legs on a longer walk. Details of local walks, along with a comprehensive selection of local attraction leaflets are in the entrance hall at Shelbourne.

Shelbourne's changeover day is Saturday.

About the Owner

I moved to this area of Cornwall when I was 4 years old and grew up in Caerhays as my Mum was teaching at the local school. We all enjoyed living by the sea and it was very exciting when after retiring as Head of Gorran School my parents were able to buy the land and have Shelbourne built.

My children loved spending their summers there, playing on the beach and having picnics on the cliff. Now my grandchildren look forward to having time at what they call 'the seaside house'.

When I inherited the bungalow I had it extensively renovated to provide a welcoming and convienient base so others could enjoy the area as much as my family always have.

Amazing location and accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely time at Shelbourne. With a lively 2 year old we wanted a holiday where we could explore a lot but also rest. Shelbourne gave us this - set on the headland with amazing views, it was great for flying the kite, building a train track in the very large lounge or strolling down to the beach or up to the park.

Days out to Mevagissey's Model Railway museum were very popular with our little boy, as was Lappa Valley Railways and Pinetum for a long runaround.

We had the perfect holiday - relaxed breakfasts and evening meals enjoying the sunrises and sunsets from the sunroom and then busy days out.

Shelbourne had everything we needed, including buckets and spades!

This is the second time we've been to Shelbourne and we will definitely go again.

Shelbourne Summer

Complete agreement with previous reviews. A large, well maintained, comfortable and clean property with stunning views and immediate access to the coast path.

A folder contains details of places to visit and good eating places within a few miles (and every one we tried lived upto expectations).

A Haven in Gorran Haven

  • 5 of 5

For those who just want to get away from it all and stare out at the stunning view from this property, this is the place for you! Accommodation was clean and everything you need from home to home is there! Neighbours are happy, cheerful and helpful. Waking up each morning and looking directly at the sea was bliss! Gorran Haven is a quiet, quaint and idyllic small village and for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life we couldn't recommend anywhere better! The owner, Lin, is delightful and very accommodating. You just can't go wrong!

Lovely to be able to spend the new year celebrations in a warm and comfy home and sharing in the village festivites. Shelbourne was a good starting point for some lovely sunny walks. The bungalow was extremely clean and well presented.

Whatever the weather Shelbourne always provides a perfect retreat from the world.
