A Two bedroom, Two Bathroom Top Floor Apartment in Marigot Bay, West Indies, Set Into a Lush Tropical Hillside With Stunning Views Across The Inner Bay

This luxury top floor apartment forms part of the Capella Marigot Bay Resort Hotel. It is set into a lush tropical hillside with dramatic views of the bay and provides an intimate environment for guests, with every possible modern facility, including the Auriga Spa and fitness centre, shops, swimming pools, bars and restaurants, all for that ultimate holiday experience.

The apartment itself is furnished to a high standard with a spacious living area, handsome four-poster, super king size beds in each bedroom, luxury twin basin ensuite bathrooms and extensive balcony space. The bonus of a kitchen and dining area allows for self-catering if required, as well as enjoying the advantages of a Laundry facilities are located in the adjacent utility room.

The Capella philosophy is to offer great service, wonderful food and sympathetic staff who will do the most to ensure your holiday at Capella Marigot Bay is an enjoyable and memorable experience.

The Resort has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment programme, most notably in the public areas, which we are sure will enhance your stay. The apartment itself includes a Bose surround sound music system with MP3 input capability, 32” flat screen TV, and a DVD player in the living room and both bedrooms. Wi Fi access is available in all rooms. Large double doors in the lounge area open out to the spacious balcony, with outdoor furniture and views over the pool and inner bay. Ceiling fans and aircon units are fitted in the main living area and both bedrooms.

For those who enjoy swimming, there are two pools. The main pool includes a swim up bar with sun-beds and umbrellas and shaded couches around the open areas. Guests are respectfully requested not to book a sun-bed with their belongings; they are available only on a first come first served basis. Drinks and snacks may be enjoyed at any time in the pool area, with occasional special treats. There are floating sunbeds in the small shallow pool adjacent to the main pool. This pool is also suitable for use by babies and toddlers. A smaller pool is located on the lower level. There are sun beds and comfortable seating here, as well as a bar area.

Capella Marigot Bay offers a range of dining experiences. Light meals are served from the Brut Bar in the pool area. Choose your spot in the public areas for a relaxed lunch or just a drink or a snack. Enjoy breakfast and dinner in the 14'61 Bar and Grill, where you can choose to dine either inside, adjacent to the show kitchen, or alfresco with a view over the inner bay. If you wish for a more personal dinner, then the private dining room for up to 12 people fronting the Alexandria Garden could be the place for you, or even the small table in the garden itself for that more intimate dining experience. Personal catering in your apartment is also available by arrangement with your personal assistant.

The Rum Cave is a venue for rum tasting and informal dining. Mix a rum punch for yourself here, lay down a special rum blend for your next visit or simply enjoy relaxed dining in the Cave itself or outside on the terrace.

Enter the Auriga Spa through a garden with decorative water feature, and find the private treatment cabanas with decks and open air showers, plus a sauna and steam room. There is a separate beauty salon for hairdressing, pedicures and manicures, and also a well equipped fitness centre.

There are a wide range of activities around St Lucia depending upon your personal interests. These include sailing and boat charter, bird watching, rainforest hiking and walking, climbing including the Gros Piton mountain hike, mountain biking, surfing and kite surfing, dolphin and whale watching, scuba diving and snorkelling, horseback riding, and helicopter or island tours to name but a few!

We are a retired couple living in the south of England, with two married sons and four gand-daughters. Early retirement from a busy corporate life has enabled us to travel extensively, as well as finding a home in the sun to escape the British Winter.

We find the people very friendly and the island has much to explore.

Why Peter and Gillian Taylor chose Castries Quarter

We bought in Marigot Bay because of its unique picturesque setting with its marina, yachts, beach and water sports.

It is also in a quiet area of the island, away from the main tourist beaches.

Sailing the west coast of the island is also a great attraction, as are the many rain forest and nature walks. Marigot Bay also has a variety of restaurants including three in Capella Marigot Bay itself, and a number in the bay accessible by a short ferry ride.

The small supermarket and village bakery supply daily needs, whilst there is a larger and more comprehensive supermarket a short taxi ride away.

What makes this apartment unique

Our property was chosen because of its elevated position on the top floor of the apartment block.

The balconies allow superb views of the bay and marina, whilst overlooking the hotel pool.

The option of self catering in an hotel environment is an added advantage.

The generous open space of the apartment, coupled with deluxe fittings throughout were a great attraction in the buying process, and the gardens, pool area and layout of the hotel complex are excellent in all respects.

Now part of the Capella Group, Capella Marigot Bay is a Member of 'Leading Small Hotels of the World'. The apartment and furnishings are finished to a high standard and the vaulted ceilings enhance the feeling of space. There is the added bonus of self catering facilities in an hotel environment with daily maid service included. Extras such as cots and high chairs are available on request. The Auriga Spa offers a wide variety of treatments, complemented by the Beauty Salon and Fitness Centre. There are a range of eating places and bars with extensive public areas for relaxation within the Resort. Additionally, there are a number of restaurants around the bay or a short car/taxi ride away at the top of the hill. Next door to the hotel is the Marina Village. This Caribbean style courtyard has a full range of facilities including a bank with 24 hour ATM, gourmet supermarket, shops and Bay View Cafe with views over the bay, selling delicious bread, snacks and local specialities; a great stop for light meals throughout the day.

Fantastic place to stay on a beautiful island

Everything about our stay was fantastic. Peter was extremely helpful as we were making our decision on where to stay, and also in answering questions after we made our reservations. The resort and this unit were perfect in every way. It's extremely quiet, with well-managed grounds, very convenient restaurants with good food, a very nice fitness center, and two pools. The staff at Marigot treat you like royalty and will help without hesitation in any way you need. This specific unit is on the third floor which means a great view and no noise from above. The beds and other furniture were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were large with great showers. The location is central to activities in the north and the south, but keep in mind if you rent a car you need to allow extra time due to windy and steep roads. It took a little time to be comfortable driving, but that didn't detract in any way from a wonderful full week. I highly recommend St. Lucia, this resort, and this unit in particular.

Spacious and luxurious accommodation in idyllic location

As a family of four (kids 11 and 9), this was a perfect place to enjoy some winter sun. We really appreciated the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus living area and kitchen, giving us lots of space and flexibility to eat “at home”. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant food was high quality. We would return in a heartbeat!

What a wonderful place

What a superb property in a truly spectacular location. Positioned on the top floor the apartment has stunning views over Marigot Bay.

The personal assistants and staff at Capella are so friendly and attentive to your every need. The restaurants are all very high class - we particularly liked sushi lunch by the pool bar. The happy hours (and there are a lot of them) thoroughout Capella offered excellent value on drinks.

The apartment was very well appointed with superb ensuites, comfortable beds / linen and a well laid out kitchen / living area. The property was immaculately cleaned during our stay.

The kitchen could do with a few more cooking utensils if you want to eat in most of the time but that’s a minor point in the grand scheme of what was quite simply a wonderful family holiday. I suspect we’ll be back before too long. Thank you.

Fantastic Holiday

Let me first start by saying the photos and listing description are 100% accurate! The property and the apartment itself is beautiful and extremely well maintained, very clean. My friend and I loved the unit as well as the stunning view of the resort and Marigot Bay from all three balconies!

I would caution some travelers that there are 63 steps up to the apartment - we counted as we loved the workout - however if you have any issues you may need to find a property on a lower level. We loved the free workout and of course the view that came with it. Facilities and staff were lovely, always accommodating and gracious without intruding in your personal space.

One thing to note is your unit is not stocked with water/coffee/tea on a daily basis. Not a problem for us after the owners clarified the situation - we were able to make a quick stop at a grocery store and purchased what we required for the week.

Meals on and around the resort are delicious but slightly expensive, which is to be expected for the convenience, however there are many dining options and drivers available to take you to nearby towns and restaurants.

Peter and Gillian were lovely to deal with - they answered all our questions as this was our first time using HomeAway, sent us travelling tips with restaurants and attractions of interest and even had a quick telephone call with us. I felt very confident with them and would recommend this apartment to any of my family and friends.

This is a beautiful location, a beautiful apartment and a beautiful resort. If you are looking to unwind, rest, relax and enjoy stunning scenery this is the perfect location.

Fantastic spacious apartment with great views.

First class accommodation in a first class location. A spacious and well appointed apartment with awesome views over the bay and the luxury yachts moored there. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the hotel staff who often went out of their way to help and Daniel ,the hotel manager, was very attentive. You need to be able to climb steps as the apartment is on the top floor - worth it for the view!- but the service path at the back is an easier way to get to and from reception where our hire car was parked. We occasionally fixed ourselves breakfast and a light evening meal from the kitchen in the apartment , a flexibility we like to have. There is a good variety of restaurants around the bay meaning you were never spoiled for choice, had to travel far or always had to eat at the hotel. From fine dining at the hotel restaurant and Rainforest Hideaway to the more laid back Chateau Mygo. The Indian restaurant Masala Bay was also good. We liked spending the last few hours of the day on the local beach - accessible by the regular free shuttle ferryboat - with a sundowner listening to reggae and watching the local kids enjoying life, before tossing a coin to decide where to eat! Further afield we particularly liked Anse Cochon where I could go diving and avail ourselves of the beach restaurant of the hotel Ti Kaye. Marigot Bay is a stunning place to be based to explore St Lucia although driving on the roads should be done with caution. Overall a tremendous place to stay on a great island and would love to go back.

Wonderful apartment and resort !

Thank you Peter and Gillian for letting us stay in your beautiful apartment in Marigot Bay. The apartment was even better than we imagined from the photos .. 2 huge luxurious bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, and 3 fantastic balconies to relax on throughout the day.

The Capella resort is beautiful and the staff could not have been more helpful, attentive and friendly. The hourly treats by the pool in the afternoon were a real surprise - fruit kebabs, fresh fruit juice, sushi snacks, fresh coconut water and a 4pm cocktail :) We used the Marina supermarket most days for snacks and there are plenty of restaurant options - we ate twice at Masala Bay Indian, Julietta's on the hill once and many breakfasts and dinners at the Bayside Cafe which serves great food.

A short ride on the ferry takes you to the Labas Public Beach on the famous sand spit. This beach is now serviced between 10.00 and 17.00 by Capella Beach attendants, Monday to Saturday. There are water sports available here at cost, but they do not come under the auspices of the hotel so it is up to the guest to ensure the equipment meets their needs.

If you want access to Scuba diving, try Dive Fair Helen based here at Marigot Bay or Dive St Lucia based at Rodney Bay, about 24 km away.

Taxis, trips by boat to other beaches in the locality and water taxis are available, and may be booked through your personal assistant.


Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, and British Midland fly to the island from the UK, and Jet Blue, American Airlines, Delta, Air Canada and West Jet from North America. There are two airports on the island, Hewanorra in the south, (56 km away) and George FL Charles near Castries (17 km away).

Car hire may be arranged locally for independent exploration of the island (driving permit required). However tours may be booked through your personal assistant at the hotel as well as taxis and water taxis.

A number of smaller restaurants in the Bay offer a different dining experience for the guest, including Chateau Mygo close to the Marina Village where there is a new, vibrant Hurricane Hole and Masala Bay Indian Restaurant in the Marina village centre. Doolittle's, JJ's or the Rainforest Hideaway are all just across the Bay from the hotel. In Marigot Bay at the top of the hill, you will find Juliettas, great for good home cooking. Further afield try the Pink Plantation House, Coal Pot and Auberge Seraphine in Castries, and Big Chef Steakhouse in Rodney Bay.

To the north of Marigot Bay lies St Lucia’s capital, Castries. Don't miss a visit to the colourful Central Market, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Derek Walcott Square, and Morne Fortune which played an important part in the island’s military history. Book ahead to visit the Governor General's House and Gardens located here. For duty free shopping visit Pointe Seraphine and La Place Carenage or local shops in the Marina Village.

A short drive north of Castries brings you to the main tourist areas of Gros Islet (famous for its Friday Night Jump Up) and Rodney Bay with their vast array of shops, hotels, restaurants, and the famous Reduit Beach. Pigeon Island National Historic Park, joined to Gros Islet by a causeway, is one of St Lucia’s most popular relaxation spots and site of the famous St Lucia Jazz Festival held in May each year. Good walks here as well as a swimming beach and snorkelling area.

For the cricket enthusiast, the Beausejour Cricket ground where international matches have been played, is not too far away.

From Castries drive south along the west coast road with its fabulous scenery and of course, Marigot Bay. Visit the small fishing village of Anse La Raye with its Friday night fish fry, the larger fishing village of Canaries and of course Soufrière with views of the Gros and Petit Pitons which dominate the horizon. Here you will also find other attractions, including the Sulphur Springs, Diamond Falls, Botanical Gardens, Mineral Baths, Fond Doux Estate and Anse Chastanet Beach.
