The Capella philosophy is to offer great service, wonderful food and sympathetic staff who will do the most to ensure your holiday at Capella Marigot Bay is an enjoyable and memorable experience.
The Resort has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme, most notably in the public areas, which we are sure will enhance your stay. The apartment itself is furnished to a high standard and includes a Bose surround sound music system with MP3 input capability, the latest 32” flat screen TV, and a DVD player in the living room and both bedrooms. Wi Fi access is available in all rooms. Large double doors in the lounge area open wide to expose the spacious wooden balcony with outdoor furniture and views over the pool and inner bay. Both bedrooms and the main living area feature both ceiling fans and aircon units.
Enter the Auriga Spa through a sand and stone garden with decorative water feature and find the private treatment cabanas with decks and open air showers, plus a sauna and steam room. There is a separate beauty salon for hairdressing, pedicures and manicures, and also a well equipped fitness centre.
Capella Marigot Bay offers a range of dining experiences. Light meals are served from the Cold Bar in the pool area. Choose your spot in the public areas for a relaxed lunch or just a drink or a snack. Enjoy your breakfast or dinner in the 14'61 bar and grill where you can choose to dine either inside with the Show Kitchen, or outside with a view over the inner harbour from the terrace. If you wish for a private dinner, then the private dining room for up to 12 people fronting the Alexandria Garden could be the place for you.
Rum tastings are held in the new Rum Cave! Mix a rum punch for yourself, lay down a special rum blend for your next visit or just enjoy a meal here or on the adjacent terrace.
For those who enjoy swimming, there are two pools. The small pool is located on the lower level not far from the Rum Cave. There are sun beds here as well as comfortable seating for relaxing, and a bar area. The main pool includes a swim up bar with sun-beds and umbrellas and shaded couches around the open areas. Guests are respectfully requested not to book a sun-bed with their belongings. They are available only on a first come first served basis. Drinks and snacks may be enjoyed at any time in the pool area, with occasional special treats. There are floating sunbeds in the small shallow pool adjacent to the main pool.
For special events such as weddings or corporate entertaining, there is a multi-purpose function room and terrace just above the spa area with views to the inner bay and marina.
The Capella Marina is part of the hotel complex and is home to many yachts and cruisers. There are buoys for mooring located in the inner bay as well as berths for dockside access, so there is plenty to see with much activity around the bay. There is a customs and immigration centre here provided by the St Lucia Government for those arriving by sea for the first time.

Comfort in paradise!
About the Owner
We are a retired couple living in the south of England, with two married sons and four gand-daughters. Early retirement from a busy corporate life has enabled us to travel extensively, as well as finding a home in the sun to escape the British Winter.
We find the people very friendly and the island has much to explore.

Comfort in paradise!
I selected this location to stay with my husband and two sons(15 and 12 yrs. old) after much research. We were not disappointed! It was very comfortable and beautiful. The toiletries were exceptional and my whole family was happy we each had a robe to lounge in which was provided by the rental. The views are beautiful! There are a lot of steps but I knew this and chose this because I knew I wanted to get extra steps in between my rum and cokes. Our family enjoyed taking free water taxi to Doolittles to play pool and other games in evening. Dave the owner of Doolittles and Marigot Beach Club Resort offered to take our family on a private sunset sail at a reduced rate after chatting with my husband. Masala had excellent Indian food! Rainforest Hideaway was delicious but a little pricey(but worth it). We also used Smally's Island Tours to drive us to Soufriere(Anse Chastenet Beach) and Reduit Beach on separate days for a much lower rate than what was quoted by resort. He can be found by a small stand on street near deck located by water taxi that goes to Doolittles and Rainforest Hideaway. Highly recommend him if you are on a budget like we were. We also used Shashamane water taxi to take us snorkeling at Anse Cochon Beach. The resort also offers free samples poolside on the hour every hour between noon and 4. Rum cave at Marigot Bay also had delicious ribs. I let resort know we were there for an early anniversary and they provided a complimentary plate of fruit dipped chocolates and a beautiful heart shaped towel with local flowers on our bed one evening. You may want to stop at a supermarket before staying here if you plan on cooking because they only have one gourmet market nearby. We stayed 3 nights in Rodney Bay and then 7 nights here in Marigot Bay. If you are on a budget I would recommend staying longer in Rodney Bay and less nights here because of expense. We live in Southern California and Marigot Bay is like the Laguna Beach of St. Lucia. Overall, if you want a beautiful place to stay and don't mind splurging this is your place!
Slice of Paradise
Thank you Peter and Gillian Taylor for sharing your lovely condo with us. We had a fabulous time at the Capella Resort. We stayed with our two daughters Jan 6th-Jan13th. We wanted fun in the sun and relaxing family time. The condo is beautiful, exactly as shown in the photos. A fully stocked kitchen for cooking or keeping some refreshments cold. We loved waking up and having our morning coffee on one of the three balconies of the condo. Lenora, our housekeeper was a joy, & again just an added benefit provided from the resort while renting this condo. We dined at the resort; Rum Cave, Bayside Cafe and also nearby Masala Bay, Rain forest Cafe & Hurricane Hole. You can also order room service. Happy hour at Hurricane Hole is not to be missed. We went every night! Great way to meet some locals & people from around the world arriving on the sailboats. The resort is beautiful and we loved having the Marina just outside of the resort to watch the boats come in and out of the harbor and the pool area was lovely. The service was top notch from the staff of the resort. In the afternoon, poolside we were always surprised with one of Kimba's complimentary fresh smoothies, cool towels or fresh fruit. The resort also offers a small beach, however, if you want a larger beach outside of the Bay, you can easily make arrangements through guest services. All the beaches in St. Lucia are public. We traveled by boat to see the Pitons, Sugar Beach, took snorkeling trips, and explored the beautiful rain forest. St. Lucia is a beautiful island and the more people we spoke to everyone mentioned Marigot Bay as one of the best areas to stay. Thank you again, we hope someday to return!
5 Star View - 5 Star Apartment - 5 Star Resort
We felt so fortunate to have rented this lovely apartment for an extended stay in Marigot Bay. During our vacation, we had time to leisurely explore the island of St. Lucia and would absolutely recommend Peter and Gillian’s apartment at the lovely Capella Resort.
We have traveled extensively and have never experienced such a friendly, accommodating staff from the gardeners who keep the grounds meticulously groomed to the concierge who helped with every detail of our day trips.
We were thrilled with the central location of the apartment within the resort. We were only steps away from the pools and restaurant – which, by the way, had a pot of coffee ready for my husband every morning before opening! (yes, the apartment had coffee, too) Being situated on the top floor offered amazing views of the entire bay area. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the boats come and go as well as the changing sky. We even welcomed the brief rain showers completely protected under the balcony as we watched the clouds roll in over the mountains!
The apartment itself was beautiful AND comfortable. The photos capture the beauty but not the peaceful ambience created by the openness of the floor plan, the tropical furnishings and amazing views from every room. The well equipped kitchen and laundry room were particularly useful to us during our longer stay. That being said, we also found Capella’s laundry service to be excellent and enjoyed all the restaurants in the bay area.
The water taxi was such a fun way to cross the bay and enjoy dining, drinks, and the beach on the other side. Our favorite restaurant was Rainforest Hideaway. We loved celebrating the end of the day with other travelers and locals at Chateau MyGo while watching all the boats come in. Had great fun using the complimentary kayaks and were surprised to paddle over some beautiful reefs in the bay!
We had read lots of conflicting advice about renting a vehicle on the island. From our experience, it was definitely a challenge to drive on the opposite side of the road when driving through some of the narrow towns with lots of people on foot. By the end of our stay, we were quite comfortable driving but not sure a car would be needed for shorter stays.
Our experience with this rental was perfect in every way and we absolutely recommend Peter and Gillian's apartment, Capella Resort, and Marigot Bay to anyone considering traveling to the beautiful island of St. Lucia!
What a truly wonderful place Marigot Bay is. The apartment was better than first class, beautifully furnished, and the view from the balcony was superb. Just watching the fishermen casting their nets in the morning was so relaxing.
The pool was very inviting, the staff could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The apartment was well maintained, and when we had a slightl problem with a door, it was rectified within an hour
The listing description was very accurate, and we have been singing the praises of both the complex and the Bay Area.
We just had a relaxing week, not doing much but sunbathing swimming, did visit the capital, Castries, and down to the Pitons. We can recommend the Rainforest Hideaway for lovely food, and an excellent singer. This from a jazz hater!! The lady has an exquisite voice.
I am saving my pennies to come back, so fingers crossed will be back next year.
Beautiful apartment in Marigot Bay!
We loved Peter and Gillian's apartment in Marigot Bay. The apartment was well equipped, comfortable and gave us a spectacular view of the bay as it is on an upper floor. All the amenities are as described and the beds were fantastic...we had a great night's sleep every night! The kitchen in well equipped if you choose to make any meals on your own....although I highly recommend some of the local restaurants in the bay as they are quite good. The resort itself is top-notch with the best service (especially by the pool area) that we have ever experienced anywhere in the Caribbean and elsewhere. They even came around with samples of appetizers for the pool patrons during the day which was a really nice touch! The Rum Cave (part of the bar/restaurant in the resort) is a fun spot also as many of the people mooring in the bay on sailboats etc. come in for a couple cocktails in the evening. Peter and Gillian were easy to deal with from start to finish and helped us with recommendations for airport taxis etc. We would highly recommend this spot and this rental and can't wait to return someday soon!

From the Owner
“We bought in Marigot Bay because of its unique picturesque setting with its marina, yachts, beach and water sports. It is also in a quiet area of the island, away from the main tourist beaches. Sailing the west coast of the island is also a great attraction, as are the many rain forest and nature walks. Marigot Bay also has a variety of restaurants including three in Capella Marigot Bay itself, and a number in the bay accessible by a short ferry ride. The small supermarket and village bakery supply daily needs, whilst there is a larger and more comprehensive supermarket a short taxi ride away.”
Activity and Interests
A short ride on the ferry takes you to the Labas Public Beach on the famous sand spit. This beach is now serviced between 10.00 and 17.00 by Capella Beach attendants, Monday to Saturday. There are water sports available here at cost, but they do not come under the auspices of the hotel so it is up to the guest to ensure the equipment meets their needs.
If you want access to Scuba diving, try Dive Fair Helen based here at Marigot Bay or Dive St Lucia based at Rodney Bay, about 24 km away.
Taxis, trips by boat to other beaches in the locality and water taxis are available, and may be booked through your personal assistant.
Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, and British Midland fly to the island from the UK, and Jet Blue, American Airlines, Delta, Air Canada and West Jet from North America. There are two airports on the island, Hewanorra in the south, (56 km away) and George FL Charles near Castries (17 km away).
Car hire may be arranged locally for independent exploration of the island (driving permit required). However tours may be booked through your personal assistant at the hotel as well as taxis and water taxis.
A number of smaller restaurants in the Bay offer a different dining experience for the guest, including Chateau Mygo close to the Marina Village where there is a new, vibrant Hurricane Hole, and Doolittle's, JJ's or the Rainforest Hideaway all just across the Bay from the hotel. In Marigot Bay at the top of the hill, you will find Juliettas. Further afield try the Pink Plantation and Coal Pot in Castries, and Big Chef Steakhouse in Rodney Bay.
To the north of Marigot Bay lies St Lucia’s capital, Castries. Don't miss a visit to the colourful Central Market, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Derek Walcott Square, and Morne Fortune which played an important part in the island’s military history. Book ahead to visit the Governor General's House and Gardens located here. For duty free shopping visit Pointe Seraphine and La Place Carenage or local shops in the Marina Village.
A short drive north of Castries brings you to the main tourist areas of Gros Islet (famous for its Friday Night Jump Up) and Rodney Bay with their vast array of shops, hotels, restaurants, and the famous Reduit Beach. Pigeon Island National Historic Park, joined to Gros Islet by a causeway, is one of St Lucia’s most popular relaxation spots and site of the famous St Lucia Jazz Festival held in May each year. Good walks here as well as a swimming beach.
For the cricket enthusiast, the Beausejour Cricket ground where international matches have been played, is not too far away.
From Castries drive south along the west coast road with its fabulous scenery and of course, Marigot Bay. Visit the small fishing village of Anse La Raye with its Friday night fish fry, the larger fishing village of Canaries and of course Soufrière with views of the Gros and Petit Pitons which dominate the horizon. Here you will also find other attractions, including the Sulphur Springs, Diamond Falls, Botanical Gardens, Mineral Baths, Fond Doux Estate and Anse Chastanet Beach.

“Our property was chosen because of its elevated position on the top floor of the apartment block. The balconies allow superb views of the bay and marina, whilst overlooking the hotel pool. The option of self catering in an hotel environment is an added advantage. The generous open space of the apartment, coupled with deluxe fittings throughout were a great attraction in the buying process, and the gardens, pool area and layout of the hotel complex are excellent in all respects.”
