Villa Souda is a new split level luxury house, planned, equipped and furnished to a very high standard. Internet access is available at the Villa. The villa is set in an enviable position between the villages of Kokkino Chorio and Plaka with fantastic uninterrupted views of Souda Bay and the White Mountains. The villa is within walking distance of a “secret” beach and caves, just 5 minutes drive from Plaka with its antiquated village walks, wonderful welcoming tavernas, local bars, excellent food and mini markets. Almerida with its wonderful blue flag beach, tavernas, bars and superb restaurants is only a 10 minute drive. The villa is within a stone walled plot with parking for at least 5 cars; the entrance is via sliding gates which can be locked for added privacy/security. To maximize the spectacular views, Villa Souda has a wonderful large pool terrace and two balconies, each overlooking the sea with panoramic unspoilt views of Souda Bay and surrounding natural Cretan countryside. About the Owner

I am a former Teacher and former Headteacher of three schools including an International School in Thailand. I am now owner of a UK based teacher recruitment company.

I am married with 3 children and we visit our Villa in Crete every year.

My wife, two young children and myself were the first to sample the joys of Villa Souda. It really is a wonderful property in an exquisite location. We wanted for nothing! Everything we needed was provided. I can sincerely recommend the villa: its facilities, location and comfort to anyone who really wants a little luxury and a relaxing holiday.

The secluded location, spacious villa, wonderful pool, nearby walks and majestic sunsets all combined to make for a truly wonderful holiday and Geoff and his support team, in Plaka, made sure that our every need was catered for.

Almerida is a fantastic family location: we had all we required and felt safe every minute of every day. The people of Crete could not be more accommodating!

We have already booked our return for next year!

We purchased Villa Souda because of its tuely wonderful location and magnificent views of unspoilt Cretan Countryside and Souda Bay - and the amazing sunsets. Being so close to Almeryda, Plakka, Kokkino Chorio means that we have all that we want within a 15 minute drive;The wonderful Beaches of Almeryda and Keara and our very own secret Beach. The fantastic Tavernas in Almeryda, Ombroglialos, Plakka, Kalives, Vamos and Kokkino Chrio, the wonderful country walks along the cliffs and through the mountains, the fact that there is only one other property within 1/2 a mile, the unspoilt views - only one house in the whole of the view from our poolside and terrace. To sit poolside with only the sound of goat bells and uninterrupted views of daily sunsets with a glass of ice cold wine.... heavenly. Internet is available for those who cannot cope without emails and Internet shopping!

Coast/Beach:

The beautiful blue flag beach of Almerida is approx. 10 min drive, or a scenic 30 min walk! This beach is excellent for those with small children with clean sands, gentle sloping shelves and rock pool areas. For the more energetic there are windsurfing or canoeing lessons. The beach road is an endless stream of delightful tavernas. There are many other fine beaches a short car ride: Kera Beach -15 mins Georgeopolis - 25 mins, Lake Korna - about 30 mins and many other beautiful coves to discover.

Travel:

The Villa is located near Plaka - Kokkino Chorio district, about 10 mins Drive from Almerida, 20 mins from The resort of Kalives and the beautiful port of Chania is approx. 25 km. Chania airport is approx. 30 km, 30 mins drive. Heraklion airport is approx 100 mins drive.

Transport to and from Chania and Heraklion Airports, in a 4 wheel spacious car with Driver can be provided at a reasonable charge. A hire car of your choice can be booked for you to be collected and returned to your airport.

Distances:

The villa enjoys real privacy - but situated on a good road only 5 mins drive from Plaka and its antiquated village walks, 10 mins from Almerida bay, beach, bars supermarkets and tavernas. Other nearby beauty spots include Kalives (20 mins), Georgioupolis (40 mins), Lake Kourna (60 mins) the secluded taverna at Ombroglialos beach (20 mins). The beautiful port of Chania is approx. 25 km away and Chania airport is approx. 30 km, 30 mins drive. Heraklion airport is approx 100 mins drive away.

Further Details:

Villa Souda overlooks Souda bay and the Mediterranean Sea. It is situated on the unspoilt headland at Cape Drapanos - only 800 meters from a secluded “secret beach and magical caves”, wonderful scenic walks are a feature of the hideaway - with only one other villa within a square mile you can enjoys uninterrupted views across Cretan countryside to the Mediterranean sea.

Just 10 minutes walk and you are on a secret beach which affords almost solitary sunbathing on white sands and wonderful swimming and snorkelling in the secluded, sheltered sea. From here you can walk for hours on the goat tracks meandering along the cliffs adjacent to the wonderful views across Souda Bay. Another 5 minutes from here are the secret Caves where sporting aquatic daredevils leap from 15 metres down into the deep waters of the Cave cove

Kokkino Choria and Plaka villages are a 10 minute walk amidst wonderful landscape and natural beauty. Famous scenes from Zorba the Greek were filmed here and the majority of the streets, houses and bars are as they were at the time of filming. Plaka and Kokkino Choria have well stocked supermarkets and tavernas.

By-passing Chania there is a great waterpark near Omalous which is suitable for children ranging from 2 - 62. There are rides and pools for everyone to enjoy. Opposite is a Go-Karting track again both children and adults can have the time of their lives here. Chania is famous for its beautiful harbour, harbour side restaurants, historic buildings and wonderful markets. The snorkelling trips here are excellent value. There are also tennis courts for those wishing to burn off a few calories. Also there is horse riding at Georgiopoli, 'safari' through the snow capped White Mountains, boat trips from Kalives and the challenge of walking the Samaria Gorge, which meanders for 18Km down a tortuous trail to the pretty resort of Agia Roumeli....and there is much more to be discovered.

It is essential to confirm availability with the owner before booking flights. To make a booking you can either call or email Geoff Brown - via the contact details in the contacts section. A non refundable 20% deposit will be necessary to secure your requested dates and this, + £100 bond, needs to be paid within 7 days of your booking notification. The total booking cost is to be paid, in full, at least 6 weeks prior to your departure.


Changeover Day:
Change over day is normally Tuesday. You will need to vacate by 11.00 am.
New arrivals can collect the keys from 3.30 onwards.
Directions, + a map showing the route from the airport and arrangements arrangements for picking up keys will be posted to you

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Discounts are now being offered for bookings in October 2009 through to April 2010. If you wish to discuss contact the owner via a booking enquiry application and he will call you to discuss discounts. Letting is normally per week and from Tuesday to Tuesday. In off peak periods shorter lets will be considered: a minimum of three days and a negotiated rate will be agreed. Long winter lets with discounts will be considered.

The fact that the house has three floors means that there are two large lounges- ideal if teenagers are staying with you... The basement area has a large twin room, its own toilet and shower and a large lounge with a double bed setee so the area can accommodate 4 teenagers (or 4 adults) The first floor has a large lounge and Kitchen dinning area with bathroom sink and toilet and balcony terrace over looking the Pool. The 2nd floor has a double bedroom, a twin single bedroom - both with balconies and a bathroom with shower basin and toilet. Ther is secure carparking, with locking gates, enough space for 6 cars The pool is 9 metres by 5 metres and has large sun terraces on either side. Although there is a proerty next door a tastefully designed wall ensures complete privacy

  • Notes on accommodation: An ideal, secure peaceful environment for a romantic secluded getaway, groups of adults wanting to relax and enjoy each other’s company and families with children. The Private pool, access to local secret beach and caves, spacious accommodation and close proximity to villages and Almerida make this an ideal location. Smokers are requested to smoke only in open areas outside the villa and under no circumstances in any of the indoor areas. The external terraces and pool area have been designed with railings and lockable gates so that parents can restrict access to other natural landscape areas and prevent children from entering them unsupervised. The villa is centrally heated so making it a good choice for early or late season holidays when some heating may be required on chilly evenings. Maid service with a full linen change is provided twice a week at this villa. Coloured beach and pool towels are provided for each guest in addition to the bath and hand towels. Outside: Villa Souda is a beautiful modern detached villa, built in 2008, 100 sq. m of living accommodation, set in a 2,000 sq.m plot. The villa is within a stone walled plot, with full high security fencing, parking for at least 5 cars. The entrance is via sliding gates which can be locked for added privacy/security. The villa and pool are separated from the naturally landscaped gardens ensuring privacy There is only one neighbouring property, which twins the facilities of Villa Souda. Thus two villas, each with their own pool, nestle within a 4,000 sq meter plot - not another property within a mile! The 40 sq.m pool is spacious, heated, cleaned twice a week and housed on its own spacious terrace overlooking the natural landscape and Mediterranean see for as far as the eye can see. There are no visible properties between the villa and the sea. A Webber barbecue is on hand for wonderful early evening al fresco dining - as you sip your cocktails and watch the sun sink majestically into the sea. Utility Room: The washing machine is fitted in Bathroom 1 and the downstairs store contains iron, ironing board, mobile clothes drier, wash basket, pegs and cleaning utensils and materials Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels & Linen are provided. The property will receive a full clean prior to guests arriving. Guests staying for more than one week, towels and linen will be changed weekly. If guests require further linen/towel change this can be arranged at a small fee. Other: Lounge 2 is a large lower level sitting room with double doors which open onto the poolside. The lounge also gives access to Bedroom 3 and downstairs bathroom. An ideal location for a second family or teenagers requiring a space of their own.
