Fragrant Gem of a Villa

  • 5 of 5

We have visited the Languedoc region many times, year after year, and now seem to have found the perfect villa. Wonderful views over the countryside from the villa’s elevated location, a short walk to a quaint village and a short drive to a supermarket (SuperU at Roujan) and a 20 minutes ride to beautiful Pezenas. If you like mountains try visiting Olargues and Roquebrun, these villages are very charming. Valras Plage has a superb family beach and many excellent little seaside restaurants.

La Pinede is very spacious and tastefully furnished with charming quilts hanging on walls and the kitchen has everything a cook needs (from A as in avocado slicer to Z as in lemon zester!), we have never seen such a well equipped holiday villa, I guess that’s why they say “home from home”. The insect screens are invaluable and the air conditioning is appreciated when the temperatures hit 100 degrees! A pool alarm is a legal requirement in France, but perhaps a little chat with the pool man can give you a clue. The mediterranean garden is a delight, such fragrance from roses, lavender and honeysuckle all growing in abundance.

We can only endorse other guests’ comments and would also highly recommend this villa. What a pity it is not available next summer!

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa La Pinède for the past three years. The villa suits

us very well. It’s an ideal place to stay with family or friends, as

the villa has separate sleeping areas and two complete bathrooms. We are fervent cyclists and love the fact that we can cycle starting from the house immediately into the country site.

The villa is spacious, quiet, clean and well-equipped. It is located

on the edge of a French village with a bakery, grocery, bar, and two

restaurants in walking distance.

We hope to get back soon!

Our recent two weeks holiday at La Pinède was everything we hoped and more. We were greeted with warm temps and sunshine Neffiès style. This is a gem of a villa for all reasons - private location with beautiful views, fully furnished and superbly equipped, lovely grounds with wrap around deck for outdoor dining and relaxing, plus the swimming pool. The bright spacious kitchen is a cooks dream and overlooks the pool. The two full bathrooms are a big plus. Loved the oversize Italian shower in the main bathroom! The Wifi, TV and DVD all met our needs well. The owners pride and attention to detail in making it “a home away from home” is appreciated. They have thought of everything, from quality bedding and towels, to games for the children! We especially enjoyed the “allo, allo” greeting when the village announcer shares the local news and events. How authentic is that! Neffiès is steeped in history and we enjoyed our sightseeing walks through the quaint town. Trips to the bakery for croissants and baguettes were a daily treat. Would highly recommend the local restaurants – reservations a must. At Le Very’table, food cooked to perfection and nicely presented. The Saturday market at Pézenas is impressive and worth a visit. We can’t recommend this family friendly, comfortable villa highly enough.

Le petit paradis

  • 5 of 5

I spent a most enjoyable week with my 9-year old daughter and my parents at Villa la Pinede and its peaceful surroundings. Perfect for us - not far from the sea or mountains, and many other worth visiting sites.

Villa La Pinede provides plenty of information about what to do in its Information book and folders.

La Pinede is a great place to leave from for a bike ride, a run or a walk in the surrounding vineyards and hills.

What a beauty!

The house is very comfortable and well equipped for multiple families or couples as it has separate bed- with bathrooms.

We loved the garden – a nice quiet setting for a perfect & relaxing experience. Villa La Pinede, THE perfect location for any generation to relax. Still amazed by the space around the villa where you always can find a place to sit and relax in sun or shade.

Thank you Chris and Betsy for sharing your Villa for us!

Great potential but needs to try harder

  • 2 of 5

A potentially idyllic location in a cul de sac with pretty views of vinyards.

This potential would be fully realised if the swimming pool siren alarm didn't screech 2-3 times every 24 hours for no apparent reason and if a local retailer (supermarket) didn't promote its special offers by loudspeaker from a car twice a day every day.

In general, the villa is well equipped. It is true that there is satellite tv but you will need to be or speak Dutch to appreciate it. The owner is Dutch and that seems to have determined her choice of tv package. It is regrettable this wasn't made clear in the villa specification. The owner says this was a mistake but it could easily have been rectified by a simple instruction to the installers or agent.

There is a broadband connection but it kept failing until I finally managed, after several phone calls, to persuade the managing agent to make it work properly and remain connected. You have to get past the female partner by being terribly nice, as if you are asking for a very big favour, otherwise she will respond as if you are imposing on her.

Do note that if you have an MP3 rather than an IPhone you can't play your music through the audio set-up. So bring earphones.

The insect screens are a great idea, especially when dinner is served. It was for us a big selling point. It would have helped a lot if the insect screen for the French doors was repaired; it wouldn't stay rolled down and there is a 12" gap at the bottom for insects to get in.

Neffies is a sweet village and the main restaurant next door to the grocery store has a good chef, a relaxed ambience and a terrific view when sitting outside.

Owner's Response: It’s unfortunate that Mr. Daniels couldn’t relax and enjoy his time at Villa La Pinède. Feedback from guests is very much appreciated and taken into consideration during our annual updating and upgrading of Villa la Pinède. We appreciate the level of service and support our managers provide to our guests, as they are always highly responsive. Chris &Betsy van Kessel

It took us three summers to find our perfect house in Southern France: Villa la Pinède. Bright, spacious, in walking distance to a typical french village, and lots of privacy, that's what we wanted.
