A fully licensed apartment in the unspoilt fishing village of Cabanas, close to Tavira in the eastern Algarve. The apartment is within a secure complex, finished with fine quality tiling and fittings, furnished to the highest standards. A good selection of bars and restaurants in the village - still at very good prices! Everything is within walking distance - supermarket, bars, good selection of restaurants, marina and the new look waterfront. Cabanas beach can be reached by a pleasant, 5 minute boat ride and has 3km of golden sands. Cabanas is an ideal base for exploring the Algarve and South West Spain. Regular train and bus services run along the Algarve coast. Benamor Golf Course is 1km with others close by. The lovely old town of Tavira is 4km and Spain is just 20 minutes away. Ideal for couples and families.

Great place

Very comfortable and clean. Close to shops restaurants etc. We chose it because we didn't want to have a car this time. Exactly where we wanted to be. The managers, Una and John were very helpful and lokked after us well . Hope to go again.

Great Choice

We booked for our family of two adults and two kids and was delighted with our choice of holiday apartment. The apartment itself was immaculate, fully equiped and catered for all our needs. The pool was great for us all and when we ventured out we found the base was ideally positioned for the beach, local shops and plenty of good value and quality restaurants. Definitely recommended!

Great Stay

This was the second time we stayed at Gary's apartment. The description on the website does not do justice to the very good quality of the property. Situated in the heart of Cabanas it's modern, clean and freshly decorated with a complete range of shops within five minutes walk providing fresh fish, meat and groceries making the self catering really simple and made even easier with the superb fully fitted kitchen.

Cabanas has that friendly feel about it with the picturesque boardwalk along the side of the lagoon. The boat crossing to the beach only a ten minute stroll away brings you to the beach which offers relaxation and, stretching for seven kilometers, complete privacy.

We varied eating in and eating out throughout our stay and discovered many restaurants, all reasonably priced, offering a delicious variety of food all locally sourced and cooked fresh.

We have booked again this year for three weeks and have recommended it to our colleague at the office who has booked it for herself, her husband and her family of two young girls.

We walked to Tavira which is a picturesque town with a Roman history and at night the side streets become restaurants with regular activities in the large square.

Can't wait to get back to Cabanas, it's such a relaxing place made all the more enjoyable by the superb quality of the property !

Great apartment !!!!

We have stayed in this apartment for the past 3 years.I have travelled extensively being cabin crew for many years. Cabanas has proved a little gem , great restaurants, fabulous beaches . Gary's apartment is well situated , you can walk to all the restaurants and stagger back !!

It has great balcony which gets the evening sun for sun downers.

Great amenities and easy access.

Thanks Gary we will be back in 2015 .

Another Great Stay at Cabanas Beach

Had another great stay in Cabanas having stayed in the same apartment previously. It was good to see the apartment had been well maintained and our second visit was as enjoyable as our first. We visited as a family and found everything we needed. Apartments in great location just a short walk from front with good choice of restaurants and nice beach. Owner very helpful with our pre-visit queries on resort.

Location

From the Owner

This is an immaculate, clean and tastefully furnished apartment in a great location. We love Cabanas for the fact that everything is within a few minutes stroll of the apartment and the locals are so friendly. We also like our euros to go a long way so paying such low prices (compared with the more touristy resorts to the west of Faro) to eat and drink makes everything taste all the better.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The apartment is a 3 minute stroll from the redeveloped (2009) waterfront and marina. Water taxis offer a 5 minute boat ride to the long and unspoilt Cabanas Beach. The return trip costs about 1.50 euro per person and runs throughout the day in season. The beach has its own cafe bar, changing facilities and toilets. Parasol and sunbed hire and water sports are all available in season. Between Tavira and Monte Gordo there are 5 blue flag beaches.

Travel:

Cabanas is an easy 40 mins drive from Faro airport. Car hire can be arranged at the airport or we can introduce you to a local provider. Alternatively, transfers can be arranged with our agents (this is payable locally). From Cabanas there is a regular bus and train service to Tavira town and beyond. Day trips by coach to local markets and water parks. From Tavira you can travel the Algarve or venture into Spain.

Distances:

The nearest town is beautiful and historic Tavira which is about 4km away and can be easily reached by bus, train or taxi. The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for visiting nature reserves, castles, bustling markets, quiet fishing villages or busier retail areas. There is a Grand Plaza outlet shopping centre and cinema within a ten minute drive.

Further Details:

Cabanas is a Portuguese fishing village with quaint cottages and quiet narrow streets but it's popularity with discerning tourists also ensures there are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants, some of which serve until late at night in peak season. The apartment is located right in the heart of this community so you may well hear the sound of the children playing at the nearby kindergarden and neighbourhood dogs barking during the day. Its all part of the experience of Portuguese living. There is a fish and vegetable market and local butchers, supermarkets, post office, Internet café, bank and ATM machines etc. There are facilities to learn windsurfing or kite-surfing. Excursions are available with local departures to all of the Algarve's main attractions including Waterpark and Zoomarine.

The apartment sits near to the waterfront where all the shops and restaurants are. If this appeals to you, be wary of similar looking apartments that are near the Benimore Golf Course as these are quite a walk from the waterfront. I suggest you look at internet location maps before you book. We are lucky to have fantastic agents looking after the apartment for us. All our guests have commented on how welcome they were made to feel on arrival and how reassuring it was to know there was someone local (they live in Cabanas) to call if needed.
