Luxury 48sq.m apartment situated on turn 1 of the 21 turns offering magnificent mountain views. Ideally situated for those who wish to take full advantage of winter and summer sports and then return to the quiet location of the old town of Alpe D'Huez. Parking space available outside the apartment. Two bedrooms - one with double bed and one with bunk bed. In addition large sofa-bed in the living area. We believe that the view from the sun-trap balcony is one of the best in Alpe D'Huez.

Why Sheila & Neil Timmins chose Viel-Alpe

Alpe D Huez is a wonderful all year round location offering outdoor sports in both winter and summer - including the awe inspiring Tour De France. The best bit for Sheila is the skiing. She learnt to ski here on the very forgiving nursery slopes - and, of course, the ski season here lasts for approximately five months of the year. So, all we needed was the perfect apartment and we found it in Chalet Oie.

What makes this apartment unique

As soon as the shutters are raised you will be overwhelmed (as we still are) by the magnificent view. It is breathtaking to see the cloud rise from Bourg D'Oisans, making you feel that you are on top of the world.

Just a line to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Alpe D'huez - flat was excellent and I can recommend triathlon week as a fun time to be there with lots going on. Good meal at Genepi one night. Nick Roberts (August 2010).

Notes on accommodation: At the start of your holiday there is a 'meet and greet' service. You will be met at the apartment on arrival by our English/French speaking local representative who will ensure that everything is to your satisfaction. We would be grateful if you would refrain from smoking in the apartment. Sorry, we are unable to accept pets. Outside: Large balcony accessed from the living area and bedroom one, with majestic mountain views of the 21 turns of the Tour de France down to the town of Bourg d'Oisans. Utility Room: Washing machine located in bathroom. Iron and ironing board available Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen and towels changed weekly. Apartment cleaned between lets. Other: Ski locker suitable for 6 plus pairs of skis.

Charming and comfortable chalet away from maddening crowds

Convenient, comfortable and quiet. Excellent wifi was a hit with our teenagers. Close enough to local facilities without being caught up in mainstream of this resort. Be sure to check out the location before driving up the hill - it is easy to make a wrong turn - for us at least. Parking is great. Would like to visit again.

What a view

Met Gerry on arrival who was lovely. The apartment was lovely and spacious with warming and homely décor. The apartment has everything we needed. there is a lift very close by which was great. We were a family of four (3 adults 1 child) and the only thing that we had to work around was the hot water tank! But this was merely making sure everyone had quick showers, and had a shower routine in place. The view was incredible and a sun trap to relax and chill out on.

Thoroughly loved this chalet and all being well (and if the owners would let us), we would love to return next year.

Fabulous chalet ,amazingly friendly and helpful owners.

Special interest holidays:

Alpe d'Huez is the best area in its class for biking or walking whether you prefer mountain or road. Use the apartment as a base camp to plan your route, or just try world famous Tour de France 21 turns.


Grenoble is the closest airport, approx one hour away by car. Lyon and Geneva airports are approx two and three hours journey respectively.


We are a few minutes walk from town, but far enough away not to be affected by the bars. Closest supermarket is within 5 minutes walk.

Booking Notes:
A 20% non refundable deposit is required within one week of booking to confirm reservation. The balance is to be paid eight weeks prior to commencement of your holiday, a damage deposit of £200 must be paid in resort and which will be refunded in full (subject to damage and inventory check) within 10 days of your return.

Changeover Day:
Preferred changeover day is Saturday.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
