Carswell Farm Cottages - The Lodge
Close by to Corner Cottage, this "eco-lodge" has been built to a very high standard and is incredibly eco-friendly. It has a timber frame, triple glazing, solar panels and many energy and water saving features. Downstairs there is a hall, bathroom (bath with shower over) and an open plan kitchen and living room, with woodburner. Upstairs is a twin room which you walk through to a double room with king sized bed. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and is very well equipped. It backs onto our wonderful wildflower meadow and children's play area - complete with Alice the Tractor! Dogs are very welcome (extra charge).
Our 8 peaceful cottages are dotted around our working organic dairy farm, set in unspoilt countryside on the beautiful South Devon coast.
All our cottages are just a few minutes walk from the stunning coast path and some lovely remote beaches and coves, whilst the wilderness of Dartmoor is only a short drive away. The wonderful Erme estuary and Mothecombe beach, with over 130 acres of sand at low tide, is just a couple of miles away.
Explore the nearby picturesque towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe or visit the historic port of Plymouth. Why not visit out of season and cosy down by a roaring log fire, or come and see the lambs in spring? We are open all year and offer a Friday or Monday changeover day – so come for a week or a short break at any time of year!
We put fresh local organic milk in each cottage for guests on arrival. Carswell is also the birthplace of the Well Hung Meat Company so our visitors can taste award winning local organic lamb and beef.
All the cottages are extremely well equipped with digital widescreen TVs, DVDs, washing machines, dishwashers etc and all have private gardens with patio table and BBQ. Children of all ages are very welcome and we provide toys, games and books to make them feel at home. We also have a lovely wildflower meadow with a delightful play area – complete with Alice the Tractor! Cots and high chairs available free of charge on request.
Well behaved dogs are very welcome in all the cottages except The Mews and The Beach Hut. Dogs are allowed all year round on our local beaches and also welcomed in our local pubs. Private, fenced gardens and walks straight from the front door make this a fantastic place for a holiday with your dog!
Please don't hesitate to email or call us if you have any queries and I hope we can welcome you to Carswell Farm and this special part of Devon soon.

About the Owner
About Katherine Harding
The Sayers Family have lived and farmed in the area for generations, with Geoff's father buying Carswell Farm in the 1950s. The family farm was expanded in the 1960s with the purchase of Lambside Farm and Caulston Farm. So the whole farm now stretches for nearly 3 miles along the coast and the mild climate means that our cows enjoy fresh sea air and lush green grass all year round!
Katherine Harding purchased this cottage in 1949

Beautiful quiet spot, tucked away in the Devon countryside. We really enjoyed our stay with so much to do locally, from coastal path walks (5mins from the cottage), beach time, visiting the many quaint local villages and just enjoying some peace and quiet in such a nice holiday cottage! Highly recommend!
