About the Owner

It's Sebastián and Ana María, the owners of Las Piedras. We have two sons and a daughter, the eldest has got his university degree, the elder is working, and Ana Cristina, the author of this text, wants to study Translation because she really likes languages.

We have built a little paradise for tourists who stay in our beautiful Andalusian village with our own hands.

We started building the villa in 2005 and it was finished three years later for the enjoyment of our guests.

Sebastián is a good connoisseur of our Natural Park, and has published the bilingual book "Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama (Parque natural)" to make known some beautiful and in some cases unreachable corners, the beauty of our landscapes, flora and fauna.

We are looking forward to your visit.

Hi Ana- Maria and Sebastian

This is just to say how much we enjoyed our short stay at Las Piedras and how beautiful the cottage is. We have travelled and taken holidays in Andalucia for many years, and have rented a lot of properties during that time but Las Piedras is the best we have found. The attention to detail, craftsmanship and obvious care that have been taken with the cottage, the very high standard of cleanliness and the thoughtful touches make it a wonderful place to stay. Thank you both very much for your care and attention. We will most definitely be booking again. Kind Regards. Judy and Andy Starkey

Heavenly Haven

  • 5 of 5

You will be so pleased that you booked this unique and charming property in a stunning setting in the Spanish countryside, but with beautiful views of the sea and of Frigiliana too. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful relaxing break (in the sun) at any time of the year.

Walking into Frigiliana was accessible on foot if you have stout walking legs that will last 20-30 minutes. The nearby mountain region is full of incredible walks with stunning views and scenery and there are lots of hidden coves and beaches west of Nerja which will delight you and sea temperatures were good in early November, although we are used to the North Sea!

If venturing into Frigiliana without a car at night, remember to take a taxi number from one of the business cards in the property to avoid being caught out, as the rank in town can be empty on quieter week nights. The Garden Restaurant has a view to die for and is so romantic, with quality of food and wine to match, you cannot fail to be wowed by it.

Back again...

  • 4 of 5

This as you can tell is our second time. And we are planning to go back next year again. We only have a week and think that is enough.

It’s approx. 1hr easy drive from airport. As you come off the main road Frigiliana in about 10 Minutes. Then another 10 mins through winding road and back track (not dirt) gets you to the Villa. You pass one entrance to the Mountains and roads of The Sierra Natural Park.

The Villa main sale point is the pool and area. Views from the dining area Outside of the living Villa and Villa itself affords great views to Old and New Frigiliana, as well as the Coast. The Bedroom gives good storage space but the bed itself is a bit firm for our old bones. The Bathroom gives good hot shower usage. The Kitchen has an electric hob which is to be navigated. The Sofa is okay but if you come to watch TV in English forget it. However, DVD is there but you are likely to have to change wires around but hey, not the end of the world. WIFI is Very Good and you can use by pool.

Now someone did write in user villa book that the steps to the pool from the villa was a bit challenging when using their pram!!! It would be true. So my advice if you are taking a little one and pram consider this!

The town of Frigillana is set in two. Plenty of small restaurants but parking is a pig. My advice on this is to go down at 6pm and eat early. There is a Market on one day. I can’t quite remember which day.

Nerja. Excellent Restaurants. Look up Restaurant 34 within the Hotel Carabeo. This is a must. Park when here at the car park via Calle Rodriguez Acosta. You will pay but cheap, cheap. It has a small access to the town where the Motorbikes are parked. A full town market takes place on a Sunday.

If I really have to write up a real criticism I think it’s the mistake that is made by many Villa Owners of providing a small one/two sheet pamphlet giving you as much advice about their Villa and local Villages/Towns.

It’s true the owners do not speak English and it’s left to the daughter. But that does not stop communication and encourages us to learn a foreign language and using computers.

This is a laid back place, for laid back souls. We have thought about buying here but we have no need with this kind of property ALL OVER SPAIN.

Wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing place to relax. Stock up at the supermarket and sit back and enjoy the peace, the views, the facilities. It was built by the owner and the care and effort he has put into creating this beautiful place is to be commended.

We will forever remember our stay there.

We would highly recommend this villa. Beautiful location, the villa was to a high specification. A car is a must so not recommended to any one who won't drive. Like a previous review we also arrived on a late flight and the owners showed us to the villa, which would have been difficult otherwise. We have stayed in many diferents villas in the south of Spain in remote locations and they can be hard to find so this was a huge bonus.

It's unusual to find a one bedroom villa with as many facilities. Very special!

Thank you.

stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely, relaxing week at Las Piedras. The views in all directions were beautiful with the terraces positioned to catch maximum sunshine. The villa had everything we needed and more - comfy bed, spacious bathroom, good WiFi connection, lovely pool (even though it was a little chilly we still took the plunge) and lots of places to enjoy food, drink and sunsets. Frigiliana is a very pretty village with a good choice of restaurants (The Garden Restaurant was great - something a bit different with a pretty terrace) and bars and little shops. There's a regular bus service to Nerja as well. The walk to the village was a good workout each day, about 25 minutes down and up! It was nice walking home by moonlight after dinner. The house is accessed by a narrowing concrete lane which was a bit bumpy in places but very quiet and about 10 minutes drive from the village. There are plenty of walks in the area all with equally beautiful views as a reward for some stiff climbs. This is the perfect get away from it all in a great setting.

Perfection! Enchanting, characterful, beautifully made house, breathtaking views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 8 days over Christmas 2015 and it was superb. Sebastian and Ana Maria could not have been more accommodating as our plane was very late and it must have been nearly midnight by the time we got to Frigiliana. They showed us all around the property which is surprisingly vast, especially for a 1 bedroom house - seems to spread over half the hillside. They built the house and extensive gardens, pool, terraces with tremendous deliberation, every stone and brick has been chosen and placed with care and the result is delightful beyond compare. The photos don't quite do it justice. The interior is charming and cosy with a wood burning stove, comfortable furniture, well equipped kitchen (including dishwasher and washing machine) and 4-poster in the bedroom.

It was warm enough to have breakfast on the terrace every morning, with jaw-dropping views of the mountains and Frigiliana. Somehow we managed to tear ourselves away everyday to do lots of walking -we went up Cielo, Navachica and Tajo Almendron and wonderful splashy easy walks with lots of wading and clambering up Rio Higueron, which you can walk to from the house, and the Chillar Canyon. We were out walking every day, so in the evening were too exhausted even for the 20 minute walk into town to eat out, so we made good use of the kitchen and even bbq'd on Christmas Day.

There are small food stores in Frigiliana, but as we were busy walking in daylight hours we used the Lidl near the motorway junction a lot (actually quite good compared to Lidl in the UK) and another supermarket in Nerja as they stay open late and on Sunday.

The drive to the house is not particularly hair-raising compared to driving to get to nearby walks, and it only takes a few minutes from Frigiliana.

We can't imagine a better choice in the area-highly recommended. One of the best places we've ever stayed (and we've stayed in tons of them). Also Ana Christina, Ana Maria and Sebastian's daughter is very helpful, and speaks perfect English.
