Luxury Villa With Private Pool

Overview

Property

Updated: 31-Oct-2016
Villa in Fitou, Languedoc Roussillon - Ancient Wine Village, 10 Min Drive To Stunning Sandy Beaches

Les Hirondelles is a luxury villa secluded down its own private drive, with electric gates. Nestling in the lea of a hill, backing onto vineyards the villa faces south for all-day sunshine. 5 minutes walk to the village centre, with it's 4 restaurants (2 just at the end of the drive!), boulangerie, tabac/bar and supermarket and just 10 mins drive from the Mediterranean's sandy beaches. Fitou is a wine village, so there's plenty of wine tasting to indulge in. The medieval castle and bar are only a short walk from the villa, as are two lovely restaurants.

The villa has a comfortable stylish interior, furnished to a high standard. Three double bedrooms are well appointed - two twins (beds push together for doubles) and a master with 4-poster and en-suite. All bedrooms have french windows opening to the garden. Large family bathroom and a separate loo in addition to the ensuite. The spacious, high ceiling living room opens out onto the terrace, pool and garden. Enjoy squashy sofas, UK TV, games, DVDs/CDs, reversible air-con/heating, plus free wifi. The modern kitchen has granite worktops and is very well stocked with equipment. There is a separate utility room with all laundry facilities should you need them.

Step out from the spacious living area onto the long covered terrace by the pool with gas barbecue, big table and comfy chairs - perfect for eating alfresco, with views to the hills or the stars at night. Around the pool are comfortable sunbeds and in another garden area is an outdoor ping-pong table. Room to park cars securely in the drive.

Lavender, palms, olives and almond trees can be found in the garden, together with native agaves.

'Beautiful villa in a wonderful village, delicious days spent around the pool, relaxing, BBQing, and evenings star gazing! Early morning sortie's to get fresh croissants and baguettes, late night toddles back from Cave d'Agnes after a sumptuous supper.'

'We have stayed at many villas over the years and would like to compliment you on yours. It really is gorgeous- very well equipped and combining elegance with supreme comfort. Thanks very much for sharing it with us.'

'We had a wonderful holiday, made all the more special because we looked forward to 'going home' to the house each evening after long days on the beach or exploring the area.'

'Thanks to your great information folder, we swam in the gorge at Tautavel, crept gingerly along the road at the gorge at Galymous, sunbathed and caught crabs at Le Franqui and Leucate, visited Perpignan, Narbonne and Carcassonne and many other smaller towns and villages.

The property is beautifully presented, fully equipped and in a fantastic location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this lovely property which is on the edge of the pretty, authentic village of Fitou. The villa is modern and stylish and importantly the air-conditioning is very efficient and quiet. The sitting room/kitchen was lovely and spacious so we didn't feel cramped when we were all in there preparing lunch, reading or watching DVD's during the hottest part of the day. We spent most of our time outside however, around the pool or at the large dining table, watching the swallows swooping down to the pool. We came with two teenage boys who loved the pool, the table tennis and the wind surfing/paddle boarding at Leucate. We enjoyed wandering down into the village or going up to the bar at the castle from which you can enjoy glasses of rose and look at the beautiful coastline as the sun sets. We would definitely return to Les Hirondelles.

Great villa in lovely location and very helpful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend this villa! We had a lovely week - lots to do locally and Fitou is charming, with great restaurants and wine cellars, and just a 5 minute drive to the incredible Leucate beach.

The villa itself is fabulous - air con works well throughout the property (it got up to 35 degrees during our stay so keeping cool was a must!); pool was clean and with lots of toys for kids (including Dave the lobster!) and loungers for adults; rooms were a good size; and it was well appointed throughout. The little touches (like washing powder and oils/herbs) also made the whole experience seem great value for money, and like a home away from home.

Ian the villa manager was very helpful - thank you!

The perfect place

  • 5 of 5

Les Hirondelles has everything. The description and the pictures give you a flavour of what to expect, in reality it is better, just fantastic. As we drove through the village we getting more excited and as we approached the gates we were not disappointed.

Ian, the caretaker was there to meet us and show us around. The bedrooms were excellent with great storage space and very comfortable. We had family visit and the all thought we had picked the perfect place.

The terrace and pool area was so private and such a relaxing space to share with others, swimming, chatting and enjoying a glass of wine.

The village of Fitou is just outside the gate. The restaurant Le Toit Vert is the first building you come to and well worth a visit. We ate there on a number of occasions. A ten minutes stroll takes you into the heart of the village with the local baker and

a choice of wine sellers. We village cafe Chez Denis was a trip back in time. I sure not much has changed there in the past 50 years. A great window into the local community. Another place to visit in the village is Chateau Fitou. Wonderful views down the valley to the Mediterranean and an ideal spot to sit a gaze while enjoying a refreshing drink.

Les Hirondelles and Fitou is the ideal destination to spend time with together. Everything you could want for in a holiday property. We could not recommend it highly enough.

Thank you to Liz for sharing such a perfect place..

Beautiful villa in a very French village

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this lovely, spacious and airy villa in the very French village of Fitou. The villa is extremely well equipped, very comfortably furnished and in a great location. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool on the beautiful terrace, having lots of BBQs, wine-tasting the local Fitou in the caves in the village, eating many croissants from the local boulangerie, dining out at the very good restaurants in the village (two are literally located at the end of the drive of the villa), days trips to Leucate beach and also to beautiful La Collieure. One of our best French holidays - do not hesitate to book this villa; you will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for such a wonderful review! It gives us huge pleasure to hear our guests loved the villa and had a fabulous holiday, in what we think is the most beautiful unspoiled part of the French Mediterranean coast (we're biased of course!)

Had a great weeks holiday with family and friends. The villa was all we could have wished for and more, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Loved spending time in pool and sunbathing on the terrace . Had a great evening at the Chateau, just a short walk away. So many places to visit, just ran out of time to enjoy it all. Must return.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your super feedback. There's so much to do and see around Fitou, it's lakes and the coast and inland to the gorges and castles - we are still discovering hidden gems after 10 years! We look forward to welcoming you back - we refresh and upgrade the villa each year, so it always stays in tip top condition.

Everything we could have hoped for and more

  • 5 of 5

Spent a fabulous week at Les Hirondelles. The villa is beautiful - loads of space, comfy bed linen, great pool and the best stocked kitchen I've ever seen (put it this way, you won't need to bring your own salad spinner).

The surrounding area is fantastic. Several great restaurants just a short stagger from the house in Fitou village and a few fantastic beaches nearby. La Franqui was particularly good for our toddler as the salt lake there right next to the sea was great for paddling and crab spotting.

Only wish we could have stayed there longer!

Owner's Response: Glad you had such a super time and thanks for a glowing review. Our children grew up chasing crabs in the salt lake and learnt to windsurf on it too!
