With views over mountains declared a World Heritage Site in 2011, this lovely villa is 10 minutes walk from the historic and beautiful Valldemossa and just 9 km from Deia. The villa has its own private swimming pool in large, well-kept mature gardens with palm trees and enough sunbeds for the whole family. Enjoy a BBQ and eat on the covered terrace, with produce from the local Sunday market. Villa Valldemossa is a wonderfully relaxing place to stay with family or friends, with grounds which encourage you to enjoy Mallorcan sunshine. Easy strolls into the village for freshly baked bread, local cheeses and wine, or perhaps a cooling dawdle around one of the art exhibitions. Chopin described Valldemossa as 'the most beautiful place in the world'. The 14th century frescoed monastery where he lived is open to the public. The local restaurants will tempt you with a variety of food to suit all tastes and budgets and Deia's Michelin Star restaurants are just the icing on the cake. There is an off-road path for safe walking into Valdemossa.

About the Owner

Our beautiful villa is owned by a UK family of five and it is shared with our friends and paying guests. It is treated as a family home and our clients have been very happy to stay here. Our feedback is always welcoming and positive. We have our own manager who visits daily and he is extremely helpful to all of our clients. He lives locally in the village and is therefore only minutes away from the house. As a family, we holiday at the villa at least 3 times a year and never fail to relax and soak up the wonderful surroundings. The children enjoy it as do the adults.We are very happy to share what we have, which in turn, helps us to maintain the property to a reasonably high standard.

Comfortable spacious and relaxing.

We enjoyed our stay at the villa and would recommend it to family and friends. Inside its spacious and comfortable and well thought out. The garden is lovely with mature plants and trees a great canopied eating area, excellent bbq and a wonderful swimming pool. The villa is very close to the town but is a haven of relaxation.

Fantastic villa in a beautiful location.

We have just returned from 10 days in this stunning villa. The photos do not do it justice, the villa itself is spacious and airy, everything in it is to a very high standard. However it is the outside that deserves a special mention, the pool is a good size and very clean, maintained daily by Pedro. The gardens are spacious and very well kept and the whole property is surrounded by stunning views.

Valdemossa itself is a really pretty village with lovely shops, bars and restaurants.

All the local restaurants are very good with a special mention for C'an Costa, 1 mile up the road. All the food from the BBQ was fantastic and my son said it was the best sirloin steak he had ever had, in fact went back for another. They even gave us a lift home at the end of the evening. Also loved the restaurant down at Port Valdemossa, had a special treat at Hotel Valdemossa which was amazing, I doubt I will ever eat a meal in a nicer location than the balcony overlooking the valley down to Palma.

Finally, when we were making the booking Marilyn was really helpful but the star of this holiday was the house, pool and gardens, as a place to relax and enjoy the sunshine it was second to none.

Thanks for letting us rent your lovely villa, we hope to return one day.

Blissful villa

We have recently returned from Villa Valldemossa and can't recommend it highly enough! The photos on here don't do it justice, lovely though they are. The location and views out to the mountains are stunning, and the village with all the amenities you need is on your doorstep, and Palma is only 25 minutes away by car (with a massive underground car park at La Seu, the magnificent cathedral on the bay).

In the village, we'd recommend Can Molinos for breakfast - fantastic bakery / patisserie with a garden courtyard at the back. Cappuccino is a bit pricey but good cocktails and teenagers love it! Vesubio pizza restaurant was always lively and good value too.

We were a party of 8, and the villa accommodated us all comfortably - it is very light and spacious, with lots of storage space and a very well equipped kitchen (or I should say, kitchens). The downstairs kitchen and its huge fridge / freezer came in very handy for wine, beer, ice and ice lollies!!

The gardens are lovely and very well maintained, again bags of space, and we made very good use of the excellent pool - especially lovely as sunset approaches.

Nearby - Port de Valldemossa is spectacular and offers great swimming, with excellent seafood at the little restaurant, although the drive is not for the fainthearted! Changing a tyre on a cliff face on a hairpin bend as it was getting dark added a bit of spice to our two weeks. Cala Deia (20 minutes drive, not so scary as the Port) is also very beautiful with two good chiringuito beach restaurants - very rocky, but beautifully clear water. You can reach Puerto Pollensa for a more traditional sandy beach experience in about 40 minutes. And for garden lovers - Jardins de Alfabia, just before the Soller tunnels - really peaceful. Our girls would highly recommend flyboarding - google it; they loved it - you'll need to go to Magaluf or Puerto Portals (latter is better!).

If you're thinking about booking - don't hesitate, you'll not regret it! Marilyn is more than helpful and a great host!!

We have holidayed in Valldemossa every year since 2000 and just adore the scenery, the local people, the history, the mountains (we love walking), the restaurants (varied to suit every pocket), the ports, the buildings and the views!! You can have the best of both worlds in Valldemossa, which is why it is a favourite of local neighbours like Andrew Lloyd-Webber, to mention but one. You are a stroll away from the village which has a unique atmosphere and you can stroll away again to the hidden gem just down the road, which is Villa Valldemossa. The very strict building regulations in Valldemossa help to keep the area free from intensive construction and overbuilding. It is simply a wonderful place to spend time.

Walking and cycling are popular pursuits here. Walking routes are described in our Walking in Mallorca book found on our bookshelves in the villa. Music lovers may like to time their visit with the annual Chopin festival. Regular recitals through the long season this part of the Island enjoys, take place at venues like the home of Archduke Louis Salvador, who claimed to be the best lover of the Tramuntana Mountains. Walking in early spring and over the easter period is particularly popular, asthis is when Mallorca's almond trees are in blossom.

Coast/Beach:

6km to Port de Valldemossa - a tiny fishing port but good for swimming and the fish restaurant. 9km to Deia beach/cove. 25 mins drive to Port de Soller with it's large sandy beach, pedalos & boat trips. There are some fantastic walks with coastal views.

Travel:

Villa Valldemossa is 25 minutes drive from Palma airport. We recommend car hire, although a regular bus services runs between Palma and Valldemossa and also along the coast to Deia and Soller.

Distances:

10 minutes walk to the centre of Valldemossa. 6km Port de Valldemossa. 9km Deia. 20km Soller. Trains from Soller to Palma 7 trams to Port de Soller. 25km Palma, serious shopping, cathedral, port, old town. An easy way to visit Palma is to take the new Metro train from the nearby UIB University this is ten minutes drive from the Villa, parking here is free and the train fare to Palma less than a euro.

You'll find our home-made restaurant guide in the villa. From good pizzas and pastas & salads at our nearest restaurant Vesubio, to Michelin Star choices in Deia the 'gastronomic capital of the med', there's something for everyone. From rustic Mallorcan at C'an Costa to the elegant Hotel Valldemossa restaurant. If you're cooking, the local mini supermercado in the village is 10 minutes walk away. The corner bakery bakes fresh every day. A Sunday market in the centre of Valldemossa is good for local cheeses, olives etc. The large Carrefore on the outskirts of Palma is 20 minutes by car - fantastic fresh fish counter. Music lovers may like to time their visit with the annual Chopin festival. Regular recitals through the long season this part of the Island enjoys, take place at venues like the home of Archduke Louis Salvador, who claimed to be the best lover of the Tramutana Mountains. The house, perched on the dramatic coastline between Valldemossa and Deia is now open to the public. The light and breath-taking views have long attracted artists to Valldemossa. Exhibitions are small but frequent. A stone's throw from coffee in the old square. As stated walking and cycling are both popular pursuits, those who appreciate the great outdoors are drawn by the stunning scenery on Mallorca's unspoilt north-west coast, the dramatic mountain range and of course the sea.

The property is convenient for the village, the local port and excellent public transport links to other parts of the island if you choose not to rent a car. The property is of a solid construction, built by the previous owner to exacting standards. It is very generously proportioned and has extensive grounds all around the property. With its own huge driveway, you can close the gates behind you and be totally relaxed and removed from the world outside. It has always been a family home and it is maintained year round.

  • Notes on accommodation: The villa is spacious and comfortable, decorated in neutral tones. The north-west coast is popular for walking and cycling. There is an outside table tennis table and badminton in the garden. A built-in barbecue can be found within the extensive grounds. A large rustic field adjoins (and belongs to) the property. If the fruit is in season, please help yourselves. There's a juicer in the kitchen for our oranges and lemons. The driveway is lined with orange trees and has enough room for the parking of 4 cars. Outside: The villa's private pool is 9 x 4.5m with Roman steps at one end. The large terrace includes a covered area with table and chairs for alfresco dining. There are 8 beautifully comfortable hotel standard sun loungers. A full sized outdoor table tennis table and garden badminton are fun. The barbecue is built-in, not far from our own wood stores should you need extra fuel. Utility Room: The utility room is a large further basement kitchen containing fridge/freezer. Washing machine in further basement kitchen. Iron, ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The villa has a vast linen cupboard. Fresh 100% cotton bedding is provided & changed weekly, indoor only towels are provided and are changed weekly. An optional midweek cleaning service is payable locally. The pool and terrace are attended to daily. Other: The dining area of the living/dining room has a large old Mallorcan table with 8 chairs. Double doors lead from this room to steps onto the terrace.
