About the Owner

Little did we realise that when we first came to the Morzine area to work our one or maybe two winter seasons we would still be here nearly 20 years later. We are Nina and Paul Dally and we lived in Southampton before we decided to come and work for a winter season in 1997. It was pure chance that we came to the Portes du Soleil as this is where we were offered a job, but we loved the area so much we came back for another winter season before travelling and going to the Sydney Olympics in 2000. When we returned from our travels we set up our own B&B and chalet management business from a rented property in Montriond. We then realised how beautiful and different the area was during the rest of the year and we particularly love walking in the summer and autumn.

Just want to say thank you on behalf of the whole group for providing the excellent accommodation during our stay with you. From the moment we turned up, we were made to feel very welcome and the apartment more than met our expectations, and the location was fantastic!! I certainly wont hesitate to recommend the Chalet to anyone

considering either a winter or summer trip to Morzine. Once again thank you for a great stay! March 2009.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you. You run a very friendly and professional operation and we’ll definitely come back and also recommend you to anyone who wants to ski Morzine/Avoriaz. January 2010.

'Just wanted to say thank you so much for everything last week. Everything was top class and the apartment one of the best we've ever stayed in. Transfers were spot-on and the bakery run fantastic! You're both the perfect hosts! Thank you again and hopefully we'll be back sooner rather than later.' January 2012 .

Le Morzenettaz Apartments

The property and apartment was exactly as described, spotlessly clean, finished to a good standard, with everything in its place and everything WORKED! If you are driving it may be worth checking on parking arrangements - we were the only guests with a car at the time I believe and space seemed limited, but no doubt Paul and Nina would have some solution. The boot drying was taken care of by Nina and Paul overnight and skiis were securely stored in the garage. Wet kit could be dried in the boiler room which was a plus. Paul and Nina were very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful-nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Although the apartment was self catering, Paul brought us fresh bread and croissants to order every morning at a very reasonable charge and there was quite a variety of basic items available for use in the cupboards. The Super Morzine lift seemed to be more than the stated 7 minutes flat walk when carrying skiis and wearing ski boots, but is do-able. We opted to drive to other parts of the area which was a benefit, since we could get to the skiing much quicker than by taking the bubble. If not driving I would recommend taking the option of delivery of equipment to the chalet. A walk into the town in the evening was a refreshing and pleasant stroll and there are a number of good bars and restaurants to choose from. There is also a reasonable supermarket in the town, or for larger shops we drove to Saint-Jean- d'Aulps where there is a larger supermarket to cater all needs. We would certainly stay there again - winter or summer, and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Owner's Response: We're glad you all had a good time and that you found things to be as described. Parking is a bit of an issue in the older parts of Morzine and if necessary we move our vehicles out of the way. Most of the time we don't need to as a lot of our guests arrive by airport transfer. We certainly look forward to seeing you again or your friends in the future.

From the Owner

In 2007 we finally signed for our own property, Le Morzenettaz, in Morzine which needed a lot of renovating, but we could see that it had potential and would be an ideal place to expand our business. Morzine is in the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area and we did come to the area originally to ski, but it has so much more to offer. In the summer there are plenty of activities for everyone, including mountain biking, road cycling (with the Tour de France visiting every now and then), golf, and white water rafting. With Geneva airport only 80 kms away it is an easy area to get to. We love the fact that we're not far away from Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) for day trips or from Switzerland. And Italy is just on the other side of the Mont Blanc tunnel.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Geneva at 70 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Morzine at 2 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Calais at 900 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Avoriaz at 10 Kilometres Nearest Train : Cluses at 35 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Cluses at 35 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Morzine at 1 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Super Morzine lift at 1 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Lac de Montriond at 5 Kilometres

Although we are in the mountains there are various "beaches" at the local lakes and at Lake Geneva (Lac Leman).

Our nearest "beach" at the Lac de Montriond is only a 5 minute drive away or a lovely hike alongside the river.

As well as being a very relaxing place to spend the day, the lake at Montriond is proving to be an excellent place for Triathlon training. The lake is 1 km long and good for open water swimming, with a path around the outside for running training.

Our nearest airport is Geneva which is about a 1 hour 20 minutes drive away and we can organise transfers from the airport. A car is recommended in the summer if you want to explore outside of the valley. A local bus will take you around the local valley area for 1.5 euro per trip.

We are about an 8-10 hour drive from the channel ports.

Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) is only a 30 minute drive away where you will find the spa towns of Evian and Thonon les Bains. The medieval village of Yvoire also makes a good day trip, about 1 hour away, as well as Annecy and Chamonix, both about 1.5 hours drive away.

Further Details:

Morzine is also the perfect base for a road cycling holiday, especailly during the spring or autumn when traffic is lighter. The Tour de France has been a regular visitor to Morzine and if you want to try cycling some of the classic cols of the Tour we are close to the Ramaz, the Joux-Plan, the Colombiere and the Joux-Verte.

In the summer of 2009 the Portes du Soleil started the "Multipass" scheme and we have given it our support from the start. It allows you to use many of the local facilities for just 2 euros per person per day. If you purchase a mountain bike pass you will receive a free multipass for the length of your stay. It includes entrance to swimming pools, lakes, chair lifts (for walkers only), tennis courts, ice rinks, cultural sites and buses. Other activities including paragliding are also discounted with the Multipass. From this summer it will cost even less, a 6 day pass is now €10 per person and a

13 day pass is just €20. An unbeatable price!

From the Owner

Le Morzenettaz is only a 7 minute flat walk to the nearest bubble lift and the town centre so we're not far from any of the local restaurants and bars. But we also have the advantage of being in a quiet area, off the main road so that it's peaceful at night. We are also close to a ski shop who will deliver equipment to the chalet and take it away again at the end of your holiday. A bus stop is also approx 300 meters away. We have a secure garage so that you can lock up skis, boards, mountain bikes, road bikes or motor bikes at night, and we provide a hose for washing down mountain bikes at the end of a hard days riding. Having lived in the area for a while we have many contacts so if you want to take part in any activities we know who to call, all you have to do is ask us.

A local ski shop will deliver pre ordered, discounted equipment to the chalet and we have discounts set up with other local hire shops (see our own website for details). We are bike friendly in the summer, as guests have access to a garage to lock up bikes and to work on them. A hose is also provided for washing down bikes. Wet gear can be dried off in the boiler room overnight. All inside areas are non smoking. We make no apologies for not having a TV as previous guests have liked not having one.
