The apartments are in a semi rural position yet within walking distance of a long, wide Blue Flag beach and the village of Benajarafe which has shops, bars, restaurants and other amenities. Malaga and the airport are 25 minutes away and the bustling town of Torre del Mar is a 10 minute drive. Within a short drive are 2 golf courses, an Aqua Park, go-carting and facilities for water sports, riding and other leisure activities. The surrounding countryside is a paradise for walkers and we can supply detailed maps and route suggestions. Benajarafe is set in the Axarquia - an area of white pueblos and dramatic scenery - with the cities of Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Gibraltar close enough for day trips.

About Jan Barnett

Barry and I "semi-retired" to Spain after careers in teaching and building. We searched long and hard throughout southern Spain and fell in love with this property as soon as we saw it. So close to the beach but still in the countryside - a situation almost unique on the Costa del Sol. It has fabulous sea and mountain views and cooling sea breezes during even the hottest months. We just couldn´t believe our luck and are about to celebrate 12 very happy years here. Guests come to us from all over the world and many of them return time after time to relax in the peace and tranquility and enjoy the easy access to so many of Andalusia s fabulous sites. Notes on accommodation: The units can be interconnecting - ideal for the larger group but otherwise are completely separate with their own entrances. There are ceiling fans in all living and bedrooms, cots and high chairs are available for hire and there is wi-fi internet. All linen is provided except beach/pool towels and cot linen. Please, no smoking indoors and sorry, no pets allowed. The on-site owners can assure you of a warm welcome and assistance should you need it. Outside: Each apartment has it's own private patio with sea and mountain views, table, chairs and sun umbrella. The pool area has tables, chairs, sun beds, umbrellas and a BBQ. It has all day sunshine and beautiful views. The pool is 8 x 4m and is 1.3 - 2.3m in depth with a generous stepped area in the shallow end.

Absolutely Perfect!!

Our family of four have just returned after a fabulous week at Casa Cuco - Jan and Barry couldn't have been more helpful and were there if we needed them but also left us to enjoy our holiday without being intrusive. We stayed in Apartment 1, the small private garden was a real plus, we never used the dining table inside, enjoying alfresco dining all week long. The Jasmin growing at the entrance creates the most heavenly scent and the rest of the house and garden are surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna, a real credit to Barry and Jan. The apartment was immaculate and has everything you need for a self-catering holiday. The wifi kept the teenagers happy. The private pool was superb and we got lucky and literally had it all to ourselves as the other apartment was vacant for the majority of our stay, although the pool area is spacious enough to cater for two families.

You'll need a car to make life easy, walking to the shops is a good 40 minute round trip. The bakery is fab, small supermarket near to it, but use the large supermarket at the end of Benajarafe towards Rincon de Victoria for a main shop. For a Malaga city centre visit, leave the car behind. For €1.82 pp one way, catch an air conditioned bus/coach with free wifi from the bottom of the path to Malaga, then even the designated driver can enjoy the views and a sangria!

Overall we couldn't have been happier, we wanted a quiet holiday, in the sun with a private pool and this is exactly what we got. Would highly recommend staying at Casa Cuco to anyone.

Very comfortable hilltop apartment

We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay here

and it was easy and natural to feel at home. The

house is built to a high quality standard and

catches plenty of natural light and fresh air.

Furniture and furnishings are all high quality,

tasteful and in excellent condition including all

bedding and linens. The spacious kitchen has

everything we needed for cooking from scratch and

we opted to prepare most meals to be enjoyed at

home. The descriptions and pictures presented by

the owners are accurate and reliable and we felt

there is a high level of pride-of-place in the

way the entire building and grounds are

maintained. Jan and Barry know the area well and

they were always very friendly and helpful and

especially with a valuable emergency tip for an

excellent local full-service and multilingual

dental office. Benajarafe as well as the nearby

larger town of Torre del Mar are both very

pleasant sea-side towns with everything we wanted

and needed and more. Both are far less crowded

and developed and more relaxed and authentic than

many coastal towns of equal size and offer easy

access to nature and many great day trip

destinations. We found this apartment at the end

of a 2 month exploration of Costa del Sol and

having stayed in many other places on our trip we

are happy to give this a full 5 star rating.

Brilliant apartment in a great location

Have just returned from a very relaxing holiday in this apartment. The location was fantastic, the apartment was excellently appointed, clean and airy. The pool area and garden were excellent.

Benajarafe itself was lovely, very Spanish with an excellent selection of restaurants, cafes and beach bars; the local people were very friendly and this meant an excellent experience all round. Would highly recommend and would certainly return for another visit ourselves.

Excellent relaxing villa with beautiful views

I have just returned from a fantastic stay in this apartment. I brought my father and wife after a bereavement. The kind hosts Barry and Jan were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a lovely relaxing holiday. The views from the villa are spectacular. The apartment itself is spotless and has everything you need. The pool area is fantastic and well maintained. The village is only 10 mins walk away but Jan recommended a local taxi service as my father was elderly. The village is quintessentially Spanish laud back and untouched by tourists as yet. There are plenty of lovely local restaurants that are cheap but our favourite was la plata which was only a 10 minute walk from the apartment, if you are looking for a more lively resort then Torre del Mar is only a 15 min drive. I would throughly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a relaxing typical Spanish village abroad with lovely hosts who can't do enough for you! We hope to return in the future

Perfect Spot

All the points of excellence described by others are exactly right.

We spent a wonderful month of weather in January relaxing and chilling out in the local area. So many places of interest within a short drive and little scenic tours of villages back from the coast.

Jan and Barry are a fund of information on all things you might want to do - just ask. Great hosts.

We are already booked to return and I think that says it all

Great Vacation Spot!

Great location in relaxed fishing village. The apartment is clean, comfy and cool. The views from the balcony are beautiful and though pool area shared with other apartments we often had pool to ourselves. Beach and good restaurants within walking distance. Easy driving and very accessible. Jan and Barry were great, suggesting places to see and making sure we knew our way around. Hopefully will be able to visit again soon!

Benajarafe blue flag beach is long and wide and is a 5 minute downhill walk from the apartments. It has play areas, sun loungers and umbrellas and many beach bars and fish restaurants. It's promenade gives good access to the other village amenities.


The nearest airport is Malaga (25 mins drive). Although regular bus services (nearest stop 5 mins walk) can take you to Malaga, Torre del Mar, Nerja and further afield, a car is recommended for convenience and to help you make the most of the area.


Malaga is well worth a visit (25 mins) with much to offer in terms of history, culture, architecture as well as shopping and night life.

Nerja is a very pretty town (25 mins) and boasts one of the biggest cave complexes in Europe.

Marbella, Rhonda and Puerto Banus are accessible for a day out as are Cordoba, Granada, Seville and Gibraltar, The western costa del sol has theme parks, zoos and many other attractions.

Benajarafe is a popular seaside resort with clean beaches and a promenade and it´s centre is about a 15 minute walk from the apartments. It has numerous bars and restaurants and is serviced by supermarkets and a good range of other shops, chemists, bank, post office, doctors surgery, hairdressers, church and petrol station. Like most of the local towns it holds a weekly market. The nearest towns are Torre del Mar and Rincon de la Victoria each with it's own shopping mall. The surrounding countryside is a paradise for walkers and we can provide detailed maps and route suggestions.
