Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

Hi and welcome from Elaine and Martin.

We are two ex-business people who like to travel and have been to many countries round the world. We've enjoyed and continue to enjoy meeting people and the good things in life and Villa Maria is one of them. We came to Puglia to see the 'trulli' and if Rick Stein was telling the truth about the food and wine and he certainly was!

We want our guests to enjoy Villa Maria and Puglia as much as we do and to make your holiday a special one that you will never forget. You certainly won't be disappointed.

We don't mind going out of our way to help make people happy, because that's the kind of people we are. We even provide a taxi service for guests should they wish and any local information where possible. We are nearby should guests need any help or advice.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Personal guest reviews can be seen on HomeAway.co.uk Ref 824601. We also keep our guest book at the villa for all to read. Below are some comments.

Family of 4 have been back 4 times, love the villa & Puglia. Love the pool.

Our 4 English guests had a relaxing time, thought the villa photos didn't do it justice, the best equipped place they had ever stayed in. They thought the villa was of outstanding quality.

Our group of 6 were absolutely amazed at the property and said they would come back as soon as possible. Could not believe their luck.

Our latest English family are world wide travellers and always use villas and have never seen one this good ever. Definitely 5 star+.

Our English guests with 7 month old baby had a fantastic time and thought it an absolute bargain for a luxurious, very well equipped villa. Enjoyed the food, towns and the local people were extremely friendly.

Our Italian guests celebrating a family 60th birthday, said 'look no further' than Villa Maria.

Magical.

  • 5 of 5

Arrived worn out and exhausted after a very stressful few months and left two weeks later fully refreshed and raring to go. Villa Maria is that sort of place. Lovely home with all the facilities you could wish for including a large pool and set in extensive, secluded, well-kept grounds off the beaten track for privacy and peace and quiet but close enough to all the amenities, restaurants, beaches, markets to make it practical.

This is only half the story though, the Villa owners who live next door are never obtrusive but available with helpful friendly advice and assistance with bookings if needed and always with a smile and really can’t do enough to make your stay as memorable as possible.

This is a magical place located in a very friendly area of Italy, run by a great team and is suitable for a couple or families. I simply cannot imagine anyone booking here could be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. Villa Maria really is that peaceful. The garden is really appreciated for its size and all the shrubs and fruit trees and the privacy it provides. The view from the veranda looks down the majority of the garden and is very restful. The inside of the villa is also very well equipped and comfortable with plenty of space to relax and have quiet time or family fun or cook a gourmet meal with all the delicious local produce available. We do take great pride in the villa and try to be as helpful as we can to make our guests stay as enjoyable as possible. We are available if you need us. We get to meet some lovely people and that makes it worthwhile when they leave feeling refreshed and happy.

The perfect Villa for your holiday in Puglia

  • 5 of 5

This Villa is exceptional and as so good it is Martin and Elaine's 'real home' in the winter! It's very private, safe and secure and well equipped for everything. The pool is superb and is neatly located whilst the gardens are stunning. We have enjoyed fresh plums, grapes, almonds and even limes throughout our stay.

It you are looking for the perfect hideaway and hosts to

match you need look no further.

Owner's Response: We do like to think Villa Maria is a 'home from home' in respect of comfort and entertainment and the fully equipped large kitchen is a great place to try out all the lovely local produce and all the fruits you can help yourself to from the well established garden. We are so pleased you and the family enjoyed the villa and large pool much as we do. Hope we see you again. Best wishes Elaine and Martin

Beautiful Tranquil Trullo

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Puglia and Elaine & Martin immediately made us feel very welcome. The villa is very spacious with plenty of relaxation space both outside and in. The owners have supplied plenty of games, books & DVDs for all tastes and there is a very useful folder with local attractions & restaurants. The pool is immaculately kept as is the garden and the villa itself. The kitchen is very clean, well equipped and it was fabulous to have wine and olive oil 'on tap'!!! We did venture out a few times but to be honest were more than happy to enjoy the lovely villa & gardens and spent time playing games or reading round the pool most days. Perfect chill out holiday. Would highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Always gratifying to know Villa Maria has been so enjoyed. It is very difficult to capture on a few photographs the spaciousness of the villa and the garden, both of which we take great pride in. Although there are many attractions and avtivities, let alone the great food and wines, feeling relaxed is also important. We are delighted you thought so too. Best wishes Elaine and Martin.

Delightful villa

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this villa. An absolutely lovely place to stay for all of us (6 adults + 2 small children). We found this a really beautiful house and garden. The house has been comfortably and pleasantly furnished on all the different levels including upper arched balcony area, and large downstairs kitchen-dining space (which made it easy to keep an eye on the children), as well as numerous outdoor sitting or sunbathing areas: it was a place where we could all be together or have quiet times apart. The garden is really pretty, stretched out with olive & fruit trees, and an abundance of flowers & shrubs, while the paved areas were good for grandchildren running around barefoot and playing ‘boules’. Swimming pool big, perfect for adults and swimming children (paddling pool was provided for toddler). The owners were discreetly invisible in the neighbouring house, but delightfully kind and friendly both on our arrival and when we needed anything. We were lucky with hot weather at the end of May, but nearby are interesting hill top towns to visit as well as a nice bit of coast. Thank you Elaine and Martin!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. We have put much effort into the large garden to make it safe but enjoyable for adults and children to enjoy, both to look at and with edible fruits etc. Likewise the large pool, space for everyone. It is difficult to put across the spaciousness and ambience of the villa/trullo from just a few photos. As indeed the kitchen, dining area is a much enjoyed room and, as you say, great for keeping an eye on the children. Also the upper terrace looking down the garden and olive groves in the warm evenings with a glass of delicious local wine. A visit to the beautiful, old local towns is a must and within easy driving distance. We are available should guests need help or advice, it is important to us that our guests enjoy and get the most out of their stay at Villa Maria.

First Class Holiday in Sunny Puglia

  • 5 of 5

Our Hosts Martin & Elaine provided us with a warm welcome , to their beautiful villa with a great swimming pool at 15 m. The location allowed us to visit a number of surrounding Towns , which hosted night time events from Fiesta's to Saints celebrations. We enjoyed the local Cusine and tried many restaurants in Ceglie and Cisternino . The Sandy Beaches on the Adriatic near Pilone were sensational. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Villa and Martin and Elaine were first class hosts! Chao Mark ,Claire and our two boys Morgan (13) & Evan (12)

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your comments. We are glad you enjoyed the villa and large pool. Good to know that you experienced some of the local events and of course an endless choice of beaches and excellent restaurants producing home made local fayre washed down with local wines. There are many places to visit and experience within easy travelling distance. We do try to facilitate our guests so they get as much enjoyment as possible out of both the villa and the area. Hope we see you and your lovely family again in Puglia. Best wishes. Elaine and Martin

Beautiful, relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful holiday at the Trullo. Everything was exceptionally well looked after and we totally fell in love with the gardens, in fact, so much so, that we spent most of our time there. Martin and Elaine were very welcoming and helped make our stay truly memorable. The surrounding towns are also great although we had lots of laughs trying to find them when our sat.nav. decided to have a mind of it's own. Thank you both for such a great holiday and the wine - what more can we say? x

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your comments. It is always satisfying to know our guests have enjoyed their stay at our villa and enjoyed the huge well established garden we love. The historical centres of the beautiful local towns can be challenging for driving using sat nav due to the lovely old winding, paved streets. As for the local wines they are indeed exceptional, as is the local produce used by the excellent restaurants in the area. The local markets are also a great source for local produce and local wine is readily available too. We are always happy to advise our guests if we can be of help and are available if required. We would love to have you stay at Villa Maria again. xx

Location

From the Owner

The magical scenery of the sun kissed world of the trulli lived up to and surpassed expectations. The people and the food likewise. We were looking for a new venture and life and finding Villa Maria made the decision for us. The area is beautiful rural Puglia with ancient towns full of history and a delight to explore and the way of life is very relaxed. The trullo is a piece of traditional Puglia surrounded by shimmering ancient olive groves which are hypnotic to watch from our own private grandstand on the veranda. We are surrounded by genuine local people still farming the ancient olives and almonds as they have for hundreds of years. It is one of the most beautiful villas we have ever seen and we are very proud owners.

Facilities

From the Owner

Whilst Villa Maria is very private and peaceful it is still only minutes away from two towns and all local amenities. Local markets selling fresh produce take place almost every day of the week. Two airports (Brindisi and Bari) are close by and two seas to pick from (Adriatic and Ionian) within 20 minutes drive. Restaurants abound specialising in local fayre and at a price to suit every pocket. Most do take away service too. Villa Maria is a traditional trullo and extremely well equipped luxury villa with a lovely homely feel. After a lazy sunny day cooling off in the large pool and topping up that tan, what better than to spend your evening on a candlelit patio enjoying the best of fresh local produce and local wines while the sun goes down. Your own little piece of heaven!
