About the property

Apartment in Mojacar Playa, Almeria, Spain - Overlooks Quiet Beach.

Stunning first floor apartment, set in a beautiful, secure garden surrounded by only 30 apartments. There are two large bedrooms, one overlooks the beach and has a double bed.

The other has twin beds which can also be joined to make a king size bed, on request and overlooks the garden.

There is generous fitted wardrobe space in both bedrooms.

The shower room and basin, toilet is large and modern, white tiled with a navy border. One of the sofas is a sofa bed, double size for that extra guest (by agreement only). There is an English 40 inch flat screen television with access to your favourite programmes. Wi fi is supplied. The kitchen is well fitted, with all your family requirements. Fridge-freezer, microwave, gas hob and electric oven and washing machine.

The swimming pool is "guitar" shaped, and the smaller end is perfect for small children. The apartment is stylishly furnished, with abstract art, comfortable sofas and a newly installed wood burner for those winter weeks in Spain! On the spacious balcony, from the lounge there are two french windows, looking onto the garden and pool. This area, a spacious balcony, is planted with bougainvillea and colourful plants and has a large pull down awning providing, providing necessary shade on xthose hot days, 329 of them per year!. A table and six chairs provides for those long, lazy Spanish lunches and dinners. From this balcony you will see fantastic sunsets, over the Sierra Cabrera mountains, looking over the Mojacar roof tops.

Air conditioning and heating are fitted throughout the apartment.

The smaller balcony looks onto the beach, and is great for star gazing, watching the sunrise over the ocean, whilst having your breakfast in the morning sunshine! this location is perfect for everyone, whether young, families,couples, whatever your age and interests, Mojacar is perfect for you.There are many restaurants, bars and amenities nearby. 1 minutes walk to beach. There are panoramic views to mountains and sea. Several good golf courses within 10km, 1 is only 5 minutes walk!

Hi I am Carol, and I want to tell you a bit about myself and my stunning apartment in Mojacar.

I have had a love affair with Spain since early in the eighties, but not until 2007 did I eventually take the plunge and buy my own liitle place in the Sun!

My brothers family already owned an apartment at Rio Abajo, so when my apartment became available, I jumped at the chance- I had already holidayed at my brothers many times, so I knew the small communidad very well, and loved it.

It was sold to me painted internally in bright yellow, which was a bit fullon so I renovated the whole apartment, adding a new kitchen and a fabulous walk in shower room, and now the walls are white- it looks great, I hope you will agree!

Why CAROL REEVES chose Mojácar

I have stayed in the Mojacar region for many years. The area has absolutely everything that any one could want!

Restaurants, watersports, conservation areas, mountains, golf, it can be busy or quiet, great for families and couples, walkers, divers - Mojacar has it all.

Mojacar playa has great shops and supermarkets. There are really good local markets in Garrucha, Turre, Villaricos and Mojacar Pueblo.

Mojacar Pueblos is an ancient town a few minutes drive into the hills from the Playa, very historical, dating back to the times of the Moors and the Christians. The Pueblo is known as "The Corner of Enchantment", which is a lovely name, and so apt. Rumour has it that Walt Disney was born in the Pueblo!

The Almeria coast has 327 days of sunshine a year!

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment has wonderful views- to the East you wake up to incredible sun rise, viewed from your bed, if you like! Breakfast on the kitchen balcony in the early morning sun is a pleasure.

The sun gradually rises, and for the whole afternoon, well into the evening, the large west facing balcony overlooking the garden, off the twin bedded room and sitting room, has glorious sunshine. Great for sun lounging, lunch under the massive canopy, afternoon tea, cocktails, or an early evening drinks party and maybe a barbecue! And the sunsets.... wow!

The beach is at the quieter end of Mojacar Playa, and is less than a 60 second walk!

The gentle lull of the ocean is perfect as a sleeping pill!

The garden is shared, but never very busy, even in peak periods- there are only 30 units in total.

Lovely apartment, quiet and relaxing- so much so we have booked next year for May and August. Views from the apartment are spectacular, even whilst washing up! For fun its only a 1 euro bus ride, bus stop 2 mins from the apartment. 10 minutes ride to either the water park or market, nightlife or the old town of Mojacar. Notes on accommodation: All rooms have ceiling fans fitted and air conditioning. For winter there are radiators in each room, except the kitchen. Also there is a wood burner. There is a sofa bed, use by agreement with owner. Private key is supplied to the garden. 2 sun loungers and 6 garden chairs are supplied, for use on the balcony. If taken into the garden, please always return daily. Excellent parking in quiet access road, immediately outside. Utility Room: Large cupboards on both balconies for equipment. Washing airer, bucket, mop, cleaning equipment. 2 sun loungers, 6 garden chairs, table on large balcony seats 8. Huge sun awning, allowing balcony shade when needed. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Apartment is supplied fully cleaned with fresh linen and towels. Help and advice when needed from the adjacent caretakers.. A water filter is fitted, which is excellent- no need to purchase bottles of water! Other: Internet is connected, and also provides for UK viewing to large 38" television with catch-up on all channels

Love Mojacar and this villa

We had a fantastic two week stay here in August 2017. The villa is lovely with a small sea view balcony perfect for morning tea watching the sun rise, and a larger balcony overlooking the pool. The pool is guitar shaped with the long narrow bit ideal for young children, and the wider section deep enough for diving. The villa is well equipped and a short walk from 2 lovely bars; one being sea front. The beach in front of the villa is sand and shingle, and very quiet (even at the end of August) and within a short distance you can find more sandy, populous beaches with bars and shops. We had a problem with the TV during our stay but Carol was very quick to organise a replacement. The villa is in the quiet end of Mojacar which we really liked as it is far less touristy than Mojacar Playa and remains very Spanish.

Home from home!

A lovely property and location right on the beach. A little out of the way in terms of bars but as others have said, the local bus is great to get you down to the playa. Despite other comments we found the taxis to be ok and just asked at the last bar for them to call us a taxi home. Baobab is 2 minutes walk away and we'll worth a visit the food was amazing. Will definitely return.

Perfect location and great apartment

I really like coming to Mojacar but I LOVE coming back each year to Carol's apartment. What could be nicer than seeing the sun rise each morning then watching it's descent on the larger balcony in the evening...well maybe sitting on the beach at the end of the day just watching the waves roll in on the beach which is just a one minute stroll from the apartment. The pool is absolutely great, never too busy. The bus stop is approximately 2 mins away. It's a quiet complex, the apartment is always spotless...it doesn't feel like a holiday rental. This year we are returning again for our fourth time and we are as excited as we were for the first time :)

Perfect for families and couples

This was our sixth time coming to Mojacar and our second time in Rio Abajo apartments. For us this is possibly the best location on the Playa. The views from the front balcony and the back balcony are second to none. There are no hills to climb, you are within walking distance of restaurants, the bus stop is literally a few minutes walk away. The wi-fi is brilliant, as is the air con on the really hot days and nights, even the beds are comfortable! Just love this place! Karl & Frances (Dublin, Ireland)

Great apartment

We had a lovely stay in Rio Abajo. The view from the kitchen and the balcony were just beautiful. The apartment was spotless, the beds very comfortable, the kitchen was very well stocked. Wi-fi was great to have especially with one teen and a 12 year old! My husband loved the fact that he could go for an early morning dip in the sea -it was like having your own private beach.

I suppose the biggest recommendation I can give this apartment is that we will definitely be returning next year

There are 5 golf courses within 30 mimutes drive or less, Marina Golf is just across the road, with sea views and is really excellent.

Others are Desert Springs and Val D,Este, which are fabulous, with beautiful restaurants, swimming pool, club etc.

There is a skuba diving club immediately opposite us.

There are may tennis courts, paddle tennis, sports centres, bowling greens nearby.

Boat hire is available in nearby Garrucha.

There are 3 riding stables nearby.

Coast/Beach:

Mojacar Playa has many beaches, all in excellent conditions, some have blue flag status. most can be viewed from the road, which makes Mojacar so attractive. Immediately opposite the apartment is a quiet beach, only 1 minutes walk away, with a small hotel nearby, and several bars a short walk away.

The beach to the left, as you face the sea is sandy, with good sea bathing. The beach to our right is more pebbly, with rock pools and small rock bays to explore! bathing is fine, but it is pebbly as you enter the water.

Travel:

Almeria airport is under 1 hours drive to Mojacar. Murcia is 1 hour 15 minutes away. Cars can be hired at each airport and is recommended, but also taxis can be hired, if preferred. You can travel to Mojacar from Almeria Airport by bus with

www.exclusiveairportshuttles.co.uk. the cost @ April 2014 is 18e each way.

There are local buses daily, every half hour to Mojacar Pueblo, Vera and Garrucha, for 1.10e- bus stops just outside.

Distances:

The busier part of Mojacar Playa is a 10 minute drive, and has great nightlife, shops, bars and eating places in abundance.

Theapartment is located at the quieter end of the Playa; but there are many small beach bars, restaurants, shops and mini-markets within walking distance, including a very good butcher and bread shop.

The old town of Mojacar is well worth visiting, as it is very historical, with pretty bars, shops and restaurants and stunning views. Garrucha is an attractive small fishing town and harbour, with a great market on Fridays, 5 minutes drive away. The Aqua Park at Vera is about 10 minutes drive, also available by bus.

Spanish markets are great, with excellent veg, fruit, flowers, cheeses, spices and clothes etc. On Wednesday visit Mojacar market; Turre and Garrucha on Fridays and Villaricos on Sundays!
