Apartment in Kalkan, Turkey - Unrivalled Location Just Above Villa Mahal

Turtle View is a luxury apartment in an exceptional location with stunning unobstructed views over Kalkan, its islands and bay. It is part of the old Eagles Nest Hotel which has now been converted into beautiful apartments. It is situated directly above the Villa Mahal boutique hotel with steps taking you down to Mahal and the waters edge. Here you can enjoy Villa Mahal's beach club facilities, restaurants or take the taxi boat directly across to Kalkan. The huge terrace with surround panorama (no roof top views here) is west facing. It is partially covered to allow some shade from the midday sun. Here you can dine or simply relax in your own private jacuzzi. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting with a glass of wine or Efes (local beer) listening to the put-put of the small boats, seeing the gulets returning to the harbour and then having dinner as the sun sets over the bay and the Kalkan lights begin to twinkle as the dusk falls. All very, very romantic.

About the Owner

I live in Surrey, England, with my husband and two teenage sons. My husband and I both work; I as a Practice Nurse in a local GP practice and my husband is a Civil Engineer. Originally from the west of Ireland and married to a Kiwi we have travelled extensively. In addition to the regular trips home we have also holidayed, when our children were younger, in France and Spain. For the last 8 years we have loved our family summer breaks in Kalkan and the shorter breaks (long weekends) I have been lucky enough to share with my girl friends. We also usually manage to get out to Kalkan at Easter and again in late October/early November which are some of the nicest times of the year on this part of the Mediterranean.

We've had an amazing holiday. Apartment is absolutely fabulous, modern, comfortable, well thought out and of a very high standard, then there's the view-quite simply breathtaking. It has to be the best view in Kalkan, you are so, so lucky! Watching the sun setting over the hills, the boats returning to the harbour and the tranquility of the place will stay long in our memories, absolutely magical! Steps lead down from Turtle View to the exclusive boutique hotel Villa Mahal and the waters edge where you can enjoy Villa Mahal's beach club facilities, restaurants or take the taxi boat directly across to Kalkan.

The dramatic Kaputas beach is a 5 minute journey from Kalkan where its beautiful sandy beach is found at the foot of a ravine down many steps.

Patara Beach in approximately 20 minutes and is of pure sand and dunes stretching 12 miles.


Transport links are good. It’s just a one and a half hour journey on the excellent coastal highway to Dalaman Airport. Antalya is a three and a half hour ride over the mountains as an alternative to the coastal route. Both routes have breath taking scenery. With popular beaches at Patara (20mins) and Kaputas (10mins) also within easy reach and water sports aplenty, Kalkan is a highly popular and attractive destination for anyone looking for a truly wonderful holiday.


Located on the Turquoise Coast of Turkey and with the soaring Taurus Mountains as a backdrop, lies the postcard pretty village of Kalkan.

The ancient sites of Xanthos, Letoon, Pinar, Tlos, and Patara are within easy reach, also Saklikent Gorge.

Driving up into the mountains behind Kalkan and travelling through stunning scenery, you will come across a fertile plain that was once a prehistoric lake. Amongst the fields and orchards is the old working village of Bezirgan.

Kalkan is a small fishing village with winding cobbled streets and alleyways, which has expanded gradually over recent years. The ancient old town retains its original character, surrounded by the awesome Taurus mountains. At its centre lies the harbour with a mix of local fishing craft, traditional gulets and visiting yachts.

There is a wealth of superb restaurants, the best to be had in coastal Turkey and for which Kalkan is most famous. Here you will find menus to suit all pockets and tastes. These are mainly situated along the harbour front or on roof terraces offering excellent views over the sea, superb fresh fish and seafood. A wonderful evening can be enjoyed in a relaxing ambiance soaking up the atmosphere of the village at night. Many of these restaurants feature annually in reports provided by national newspapers in the UK. Although sophisticated and chic, these have still retained their Turkish charm. Shops are very good quality with a range of merchandise available from arts and crafts to ‘designer’ handbags. There is a range of boutique style bag shops that hold many bargains compared to UK prices. There is also an excellent weekly Thursday market providing many opportunities for bargain hunting from t-shirts and jeans to spices and local farmer’s food produce. There are three banks with ATM machines in the village.

Kalkan village is a 15-20 minute walk from Eagles Nest along the coastal road with lovely views. There is a small supermarket within 5 minutes walk from the apartment where you can get your daily supplies. There are also three local restaurants nearby. Kalkan itself has a pretty shingle beach with cafe and beach club facilities. Palm beach club is also within walking distance (15 mins) from Eagles Nest. From the harbour at Kalkan you can go on a Gullet trip and explore the nearby islands and coves or visit the local dive centre. Longer day trips by boat are also available to visit the ancient sites.

Booking Notes:
There is a non-refundable 25% (minimum £200) deposit to secure your booking. The balance is payable 10 weeks before departure as well as a returnable £200 breakages deposit. The breakages deposit will be returned after clearance with local agent. No pets allowed. Smoking inside the apartment is not permitted. Our local English speaking representatives are available to answer any questions, for sorting any maintenance issues and emergencies. A 'welcome pack' is provided.

Changeover Day:Is flexible.

1.A non-refundable deposit of 25% (minimum of £200) of the property rental shall be paid at the time of the booking. This is to be paid in sterling by bank transfer to my bank account; I will acknowledge receipt by email.
Payment of Balance
2. Payment of the balance, into my bank account, shall be made no later than ten weeks before the booked arrival date.

  • Notes on accommodation: WIFI access available throughout the apartment, on the terrace and by the pool. The apartment is availabe from 4pm onwards on your arrival day. In order to prepare the apartment for the next guests please ensure departure is at 10:30 am. Outside: Wide sliding doors connect to the large outside terrace (11mx3m) with exceptional views both over the bay and Kalkan itself. It’s very private and not overlooked. Here you can relax in your own Jacuzzi and sun loungers. There is a large glass top wrought iron dining table and six chairs for alfresco dining. The main entrance to the apartment leads up from the swimming pool level. A wide marble staircase provides easy access. The apartment door is fitted with video intercom link for security. The large pool and open spacious surrounding area has a range of sunloungers, tables, chairs and parasols. The views from here are gorgeous. There are also male and female changing areas, showers and toilets at pool level. There is a car park and 24 hour site security as well as CCTV cameras in operation. Utility Room: Iron, ironing board, clothes airer and vacuum cleaner are provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, bath towels and beach towels are included. The apartment is cleaned at the end of each weeks stay and linen and towels are also changed at this time. Other: This new apartment is built to a high standard with beautiful tiled flooring throughout. All rooms have ornate cornicing and are fully air-conditioned which can provide heat if required. The surround sea views are breathtaking and never fail to impress.
