Great family gathering
About the Owner
Eileen and I retired 10 years ago, and live mainly in Crystal Palace, South London. We spend a number of weeks in the villa each year both off season and in June.
The attraction of Fuengirola and Mijas is that they are towns in their own right with Spanish residents, and do not die off in the non-summer months. We now speak passable Spanish! We enjoy playing tennis and golf, but also lazing by the pool. Visiting a number of the vast selection of tapas bars is a fun way of spending an evening, and there is a good selection of more "upmarket" restaurants.

Thank you so much for a fabulous holiday, what a beautiful place. The weather was gorgeous and we made good use of the pool. The house was lovely. What a view. The places we visited were all really nice.

“Just to let you know we had a fabulous time at your lovely villa. The weather was perfect - clear blue skies every day, unlike the weather on our return! My only regret is that I did not book it for 2 weeks! Thank you once again for a lovely holiday in Villa Pilar.” (Sue & Nick Stafford).
“We had a lovely time at Villa Pilar. It is very well equipped and perfect for large gatherings. We will definitely be recommending it to our friends.” (C Birch).

Great family gathering
We were a party of 16 both children and adults and really enjoyed our stay. The villa is very spacious and the views are amazing. It is over 4 floors and has the benefit of plenty of bathrooms. They provide towels and beach towels which is useful. You can walk into fuengirola which takes approx 50 mins. There are a few great restaurants locally, Verona and la Luna. La Luna was particularly excellent. We hired a car and went to Puerto Bantus which took approx 25 mins and I drove for the first time and it was pretty straight forward. We also went to benalmadena but there are lots of places accessible within an hours drive. There was enough kitchen space and living space with 4 large sofas so we could all sit and chat of an evening. Graham and Eileen were great to deal with and the communication was good. Overall a great week away.
Great views but in need of updating!!
We stayed in the villa for 2 weeks with the family. The villa boasted lovely views of the city and coastline and surrounding areas. However a few minor issues such as leaking showers, loose bathroom furniture and plumbing issues caused a few issues. The villa would benefit from air conditioning especially in the heat of August however we knew of this before we came but thought more fans for the rooms would have been available instead of 2. The pool was a good size and was cleaned weekly but need more frequent cleaning as started to look dirty after a few days. We took our 11month old son with us with the whole family and felt there wasn't enough space for him to roam freely and tire himself out.
All in all we had a moderate stay but unfortunately wouldn't stay here again.
We were a party of 14 aged between 5 to 75 and had a lovely time. The location of the property was ideal, not far from Malaga airport in a very nice residential area. The children enjoyed their daily walks down to the play area, bazaar and local bakery. The villa is very well equipped with plenty of sun beds and towels. It is on 4 floors so there are flights of steps to negotiate. The views from the balcony are fantastic. The owners were very helpful, as was Lisa the local representative. We had a thoroughly nice time and would definitely recommend it.
Great for Large Groups
We stayed at the Villa Pillar for 4 nights on a Golfing Holiday. We had a very good time and the Villa provided us with everything we needed. Its a very large residence good facilities all round. The pool area is excellent and the views from the back garden are great. There is a new BBQ down there which was very useful. There are fans in each bedroom and the bathroom facilities were fine. This location is good for large groups who require single beds. Overall we were very happy with the accommodation and felt we definitely received value for money
From the Owner
“We wanted to buy a villa where we could spend time with friends and family. We started looking north of Nerja, but were put off by the black sand of the volcanic beaches. So we drove south until we found attractive golden sands – and we were in Fuengirola. In our search for the ideal home we saw many, some too small, or overlooked, or noisy. Eventually we found Villa Pilar – and were enchanted by the panoramic views, and the tranquillity. Yet it is not far from bars and restaurants, and close to Fuengirola and Mijas. We needed to make changes to it to develop it into the home we wanted. But we now have a home that we can be happy in at any time of the year – a break from the English winter (which can be so depressing) or a summer holiday.”
