The Lodge (Sleeps 6, 3 Bedrooms)

The large living room has a beautiful beamed ceiling and a wood burner set in a large stone fireplace. There are library shelves either side of the fireplace with more than enough reading material for a relaxing stay. The dining room has a large oak antique table with plenty of seating for all guests. There is a separate well-equipped traditional farmhouse kitchen with dishwasher and microwave and a further table for breakfasting at. French doors open from the kitchen onto an alfresco eating area with far reaching views over the forest and distant hills.

Upstairs are 3 good sized bedrooms with high ceilings and antique white-washed beams. The rooms are furnished in a mixture of antique and contemporary items for a really cosy and relaxing ambience.

There is a family bathroom as well as an additional shower room.

Both houses share a utility room with washer and tumble dryer.

There is a quality CD player as well as TV, DVD and satellite to receive all the regular UK stations.

Le Puy offers totally tranquility and is set in the middle of our private 500 acre private estate. The Farmhouse and Lodge share a large newly fitted pool with sun-deck, fitness center (with wi-fi and pool table) and the exclusive use of the entire estate. Each house has its own outside area with BBQ and great views over the woods and hills of the Limousin. The local village is a 5 minute drive away for the morning croissant run, with a great selection of restaurants within easy reach. Lake Vassiviere is a 10 minute drive away offering water sports and beaches for swimming. We have an abundance of wildlife for you to see, as well as over 10km of paths to explore, without leaving the estate. So whether you just want to chill by the pool or get out and about, Le Puy is the perfect place for your holiday. The houses have been been tastefully refurnished and feature beamed ceilings, big open fireplaces and bags of character. We've fitted the houses with a mix of new and antique furniture to create a comfortable but stylish base for your holiday. Because we've got kids ourself, we've geared things up for families, with high chairs, toys and all the other bits you need to keep everyone happy.

We've had Le Puy since 2005. The place was a real wreck then but we've loved bringing the place back to life since then. We still live in the UK running a restaurant business in Sussex, but would love to move to France full-time when the kids are bigger.

Le Puy is all about nature. From the stunning views to the buzzards flying overhead and the stags wandering through our forest, it's all about getting in tune with a slower pace of life. We've also made the houses comfortable, well-equipped an easy to relax in. Everything you need is to hand and the kids will love it too. Having said that, you won't feel isolated with British TV and WiFi to keep you up to date with goings on if you need them. The area around Le Puy is also really beautiful - forest clad hills, lakes, rivers and sleepy authentic villages. One of the best things is the amazing pool which has fantastic views over the surrounding countryside - it's heated and really big, so great fun for all the family.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The views from the pool are extraordinary - you can see for miles without any intrusion from the modern world. We've also got loads of nature all around - birds, bats, trees, flowers and everything else.

The price includes everything you need apart from logs for the fire and heating should you want it on. We do the cleaning - all we ask is that you leave the place tidy when you leave.

Outstanding accommodation with stunning scenery

This is our fifth visit to Le Puy and we never tire of it's beauty and unspoilt location. We have high standards and the cleanliness of the properties is exceptional. The presence of on-site caretakers who speak English fluently is an asset for any information or help. The Lac de Vassiviere with man-made beach and restaurants is clean and well maintained and is loved by our kids and only 15 minutes away! There is a variety of restaurants to choose from in nearby villages however we tend to favour cooking on the bbq and watching the sun go down over the picturesque horizon with a glass of wine. We have simply fallen in love with Le Puy!

I can't explain in words how magical it was

Couldn't fault the accommodation , a true country French farm house with spectacular views and we actually saw some stags due to the guy "Ludo " who looks after the estate took us for a tour , breath-taking the kids will never forget this experience !

Notes:

  • Outside: Each of the properties has it's own distinct and private outside area for barbecuing or alfresco dining. The large pool (7x12m) is solar heated and shared. The grounds of the properties are one of the major reasons for going there and feature over 500-acres of private deer estate for you to explore with over 12km of private trails through woods and pastures. Deers, mouflon goats, sheep, ducks, hens, buzzards, the selection of animals to spot is amazing!
