About the property

Villa in S'Albufera Nature Reserve, near Es Grau, Menorca - Peaceful Location with Panoramic Views, Close to Village and Beach at Es Grau

A beautiful traditional villa situated in the S'Albufera Natural Park near Es Grau. The villa opens on to a terrace with a private pool and has stunning views over the lake and countryside to the sea. It is a quiet location and is not overlooked at all - ideal for a peaceful holiday yet it is only a 15 minute drive to Mahon. The area is designated of biological importance due to the abundant bird life and the wild flowers in the Spring are spectacular. We have a list of bird sightings for those interested!

A lovely villa with pool, located in a relaxing and peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We found the villa to be perfectly suited to our needs, very well appointed and spotlessly clean. The location is peaceful being set in the S'Albufera des Grau natural park and yet is only a few minutes drive from Mahon and the supermarkets. Es Grau and the beach is also just a few minutes drive away.

The villa is spacious with a good sized pool and has great views, especially from the upper patio. The owner was also most helpful and answered any questions we had promptly.

We have had a really pleasant 7 night stay and have no hesitation in recommending this villa. We hope to return soon!

Lovely villa with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

What a find! Villa Rondel is a lovely villa with amazing views over the Menorca countryside. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday then this is the place to be. The pool is very secluded with no one around to interrupt the calmness. Having said that, Es Grau, a small traditional fishing village, is only 5 minutes drive away and Mahon is within 10 minutes, so plenty restaurants within reach if you need them. We drove in to Es Grau to walk along the beach and in to the nature reserve and we went to Mahon most evenings for dinner. It's such a lovely walk along to the port, admiring the expensive, very expensive, boats and there are many retaurants to choose from. Back to the villa then. Completely safe and secure, with everything you will need. The sitting room is unusual as its circular, very attractive, and it opens out on to a terrace with wonderful views over the nature reserve. As there are no street lights, we sat up most evenings watching the stars. They are so bright. Have you ever lay on a sun lounger at 11.00 pm watching shooting stars? Me neither, but it's great. I could go on longer, but suffice to say I was very impressed. Give villa rondel a try. You won't be disappointed.

Owner's Response: We get a huge buzz from reading reviews like this...Menorca is a very special place and it is great to hear guests discovering the things we love about it. When our girls were younger we'd get home from a restaurant and would lie on a sun lounger not allowed to go in until we had seen a certain number of shooting stars!

Very private villa with a lovely sunny pool

  • 5 of 5

Villa Rondel has the best of both worlds, it is peaceful and private within the Nature Reserve and yet it is only a short drive from the airport and shops etc at Mahon.

The villa and pool are very clean and the pool and surrounding terraces are sunny all day. There are many books, maps and guides giving local information and the television has English channels which we appreciated as the Olympics were on when we were there.

There are many archaeological sites within easy reach and some lovely coastal walks too, but we particularly enjoyed the local walks around the Nature Reserve in the evenings.

Andrew was very quick to respond throughout the booking process and we all returned home feeling very relaxed!

Thank You!

Fabulous villa. We have stayed in villas in the Nature Reserve before as love the quietness of the area. Villa Rondel is very spacious and well laid out. The terraces are perfect and there are plenty of places to sit and relax. The living room at the top of the house was fantastic with 360 views and a few glimpses of the sea.

Would recommend this villa to couples or indeed familes as it has very flexible accommodation.

Great villa in a peaceful place.

  • 5 of 5

We are three couples, all in our 70's, who meet up for a week every year somewhere in Europe. It is always risky booking a place online without seeing it, but the Villa Rondel was a wonderful choice. The online photos do not do it justice I think.

The location in the Nature Reserve is wonderful. It is very peaceful and the silence at night is remarkable. Also, there are no lights to be seen, therefore looking at the stars on those great clear nights was really impressive.

The villa is very well-maintained, very clean, very well equipped. We could eat either on the terrace by the pool or in the rather nice dining room. The sittingroom at the top of the house is great, with beautiful expansive views.

Our two most active friends cycled to Es Grau every morning early to get really nice bread for breakfast in the local supermarket. Es Grau is also good for small restaurants to have either lunch or dinner or a drink. The fish was generally very good. Mahon is an easy twenty minute drive away and we went there to stock up on local cheese, meats, fish, vegetables, fruit, yummy cakes and even Menorcan wine, and to have lunch at one of the good restaurants situated by the water.

The bedrooms are comfortable with good storage space. There is a good supply of holiday books and DVDs.

We had a lovely holiday there. We didn't want to leave and we would highly recommend this villa. It would be most suitable for families with children, as well as for oldies like ourselves. Thank you. Ann Staunton

Lovely traditional villa in a beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful holiday. The villa was excellent and the location stunning. Our 2 grandsons loved the pool and spent most days in the water.

The harbour provided an enviable display of private yachts - how the other half live - and plenty of eating places. The island is truly beautiful and tranquil, like stepping back 20yrs. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Andrew.

Nearest Airport : Mahon at 10 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Bar Es Grau at 4 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Port Mahon at 8 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Son Parc at 15 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Tamarindos, Es Gra at 4 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Es Grau at 3 Kilometres Car: recommended

The nearest beach is at Es Grau. Last time we timed it in the car it took just under 5 minutes. People do walk it (3km) but you do have to walk along the road. The beach at Es Grau is grey sand in a wide bay. It is very level and perfect for youngsters. There are various pedallo, windsurfer and canoe-type water craft for hire. The beach is big so rarely feels crowded. There is a pretty local-owned bar/cafe and lots of parking. Restaurants and shops are in the village.

Mahon Airport is 15-20 minutes drive. It is a good idea to hire a car. Not absolutely essential if you want the simple life but handy to go in to Mahon or visit other beaches or historical sights. Easiest is to hire from the multitude of companies at the airport.

When to go?

Menorca enjoys a long warm summer from May to October. From November to March the Island cools down but temperatures never hit freezing and there can be sun-bathing opportunities on sunny days! The wild spring flowers are spectacular March-May and there is a greater variety of bird life on the lake.

April and May are great months to visit if you intend to undertake some longer walks before the midday sun gets too powerful. Most restaurants open at Easter and there are more direct flight options from the UK in May.

October and early November are also good - we always used to spend the autumn half term in Menorca. The temperatures are usually good and the sea (and villa pool) are still warm.

We usually close up the villa in November and open it up again in March but we are open to negotiation for winter rentals. We had an author guest who stayed in the villa to write a book on one occasion. They became friends with a Pine Marten family...
