About Chris

We are very happily married British couple who made a decision to buy our future home in a very beautiful location in Tuscany. Those of you that will stay will know immediately why we chose Casa Duetto. It has views all around the house and up to a gorgeous hamlet over looking a famed Spa resort 'Bagni di Lucca'. We have owned the property a number of years and have now added a infinity pool that will equal any in Tuscany. We want to create a home from home for our friends, family and guests and we want you to treat the property with love and respect as you would your own, we even encourage watering of plants whilst you are there if you find the time! We have traveled all around the world and we have not found anywhere that compares with our little spot in Tuscany. Enjoy!

Chris purchased this villa in 2008

Why Chris chose Bagni di Lucca

Fell in love with the local area and the people having spent a weekend in Benabbio across the valley. It is remote yet also within easy traveling distance of wonderful Lucca and Florence as well as a historical natural thermal spa resort at the bottom of the hill.

What makes this villa unique

Breathtaking views, fresh air, quietness and good old mother nature. There are wild deer on the hillside that we have seen on a regular basis but yet to see any wild boar!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow!We have stayed in many villa's but Casa Duetto was by far the best. Perfect in every way. The scenery and wildlife was spectacular, had 4 separate Deer sightings during our week. The villa itself was perfect and catered for everything we needed. Amazing scenery, amazing pool, amazing Villa.

We would love a return visit. Best regards from Julie, Stephen and family (UK July 2011

Jeff and Rose Lane (UK) - August 10. One of the best holidays we have ever had. The villa is absolutely stunning and location is breath taking. Everything you could possibly need is at the villa and it is very comfortable. Kids spent as much time as possible in the pool which is a great size & a lot of fun. Surrounding area is great with lots to do and close enough to Lucca for some serious shopping

Steve & Ann Marie (UK) - July 10. Your villa was superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there. The pool is amazing and we did get the occasional visit from a young deer. Rod and Caroline were excelle

The villa is centrally heated and also there is a wood burning (glass fronted) fire for winter and cold evenings. All windows are double glazed and have mossie nets and the house is superbly insulated having just been built to the highest specification. The house is ideal for families and groups of friends but young children should be supervised in the grounds and by the pool at all times and the safety of children is your responsibility. From the main road between Bagni di Lucca and Granaiola the turning to the property is down a service track (250m long). This is used by 8 properties and is maintained but please drive slowly at all times. Please note the driveway down to the property is safe has been concreted as well as fenced and is accessible for small and longer base cars but likewise apply caution at all times. If hiring a minibus then you may need to make a 3 point turn on one corner of the ascent/decent to the property. In addition not recommended for low base sports cars Outside: There is a a brand new infinity pool (8 meter by 5 meter with a depth of 1.5) for your private use and there is decking and Pergola as well as stone entertaining area. No oil based suntan lotions please in the pool and strictly no drinking or eating in the pool. The outside furniture is all teak or dark wood and includes dining table and chairs, sun loungers and parasol, beautiful Pergola for shade and smaller table and chairs for taking breakfast. There is a full size table tennis table with bats and balls etc. Also a 4 person outdoor badminton set to entertain / exercise the kids and grown ups! There is private parking area for 3/4 cars. There is an outside shower and wc. Large BBQ - Please clean after use, there is also a smaller Webber BBQ (if required). Utility Room: Washing machine, ironing board, Cleaning equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Quality towels and linen provided (1 bath, hand per guest). Property is cleaned between lets, more often by agreement (terms & conditions apply). This year we are providing outside towels for pool area. Pool will is maintained and cleaned by local agent. Other: All rooms are very tastefully decorated in keeping with Villa. All furnishings are high quality and we are sure that you will have everything you need for a perfect time at our Villa.

Perfect hillside villa with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in this property. Everything inside and outside is clean and of high quality (and properly maintained), and the views really are as breathtaking as described.

The villa is completely private, secluded and not at all overlooked, and situated up a hill, though only about a 15 minute drive from Bagni di Lucca, where there are restaurants, bars, a supermarket, small shops and a train station. We were only there for three days, and managed without a car, relying on a local taxi driver (we have entered his details in the guest book). Much longer, and a car would probably be advisable.

Chris (the owner) was very helpful in advance in terms of sending guides to the area and a restaurant recommendation, and very flexible on our last day when our driver let us down. Even though he is based in Hong Kong, he responded to emails within a couple of hours.

If you do travel into Bagni di Lucca, we would definitely recommend this restaurant: http://www.ristorantedelsonno.it/ - excellent, but reasonably food, and an extensive menu, with friendly staff.

We would absolutely return to this villa, and would be more than happy to strongly recommend it to anyone.

Fabulously equipped and very comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our very brief stay at Casa Duetto. Fabulous house with everything you will need. The view was breathtaking, looking down onto the village of Bagni de Lucca, by day and by night. We loved the sound of the bells that seem to ring throughout the hills at all times of the day. Don't be put off by mention of the approach to the house, you soon get the hang of it and we had a pretty large car. The restaurant mentioned in previous reviews is a must visit. You wonder how it can be successful being so far from anywhere, but the food is fabulous and its reputation must have spread. We arrived there without a booking, late on a Sunday lunch time and they accommodated us graciously. Fabulous steaks! They have Pizza in the evenings, but our stay wasn't long enough to try them, more's the pity. If you're arriving by car from the direction of Lucca, it's a good idea to take the advice given and stop by the supermarket; Esselunga to stock up. It's probably about half an hour from there to the house.

Thank you for letting us stay Chris and thanks for great communication throughout.

Property with a spectacular view!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this property for 5 days in July with our three children ages 10, 13, 15. The view from this property is spectacular, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool, the ping-pong table, and the house. The house is well equipped and very comfortable. From this location we enjoyed a day trip to the beach and biking in Lucca. Overall and excellent property.

For a quiet and beautiful location, this is your place

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic view this villa enjoys. The villa is modern and well equipped and our children loved the pool. You need to be prepared to drive in the evenings if looking for a meal out, although there is one restaurant up the hill, about 15mins walk if you're prepared to navigate the steep and windy track & road. A totally relaxing getaway

Amazing views, great pool

  • 5 of 5

Superb place to stay for a chilled out holiday. The pool is incredible and backed up by stunning views. A hair raising drive down the track to the house only adds to the sense of getting away and getting ready to chill out by the pool.

Easy access to Lucca and loads of small villages in the mountains. We even found a cute little "bar" 5 mins drive up the hill near the refugio with a very relaxed feel, but great coffee.

We braved a walk down the footpath to the village, but it's quite rustic!

Definitely recommend this villa! The owner is very helpful and the agent was great too.

Secluded, great vista

  • 4 of 5

Lovely setting, whole outside is directed towards the views which you don't ever tire of. Pool is great although mosquitos were very annoying, even those amongst our party who don't normally get bothered ended up with bites. Apart from that very small fact, this is a great property, perfectly situated to explore further afield: park at the station & take the train to Lucca. Either stay to explore or go onto Florence - adorable city - or Pisa, not so adorable but still worth a visit to the iconic tower. Through the management company that Chris put us in contact with, we arranged for a chef to come in & cook a typical Italian meal for my big birthday celebration. Fantastic both experience & the meal, which typically was way too much for us. The kind ladies left us the 'leftovers' which we enjoyed the following day. We also went on a wine tasting tour with Lucca wine treasures - best experience of the whole trip - even someone who doesn't actually like wine thought it was a great trip. For those who do like wine, can thoroughly recommend them. We flew into Bologna rather than Pisa; whilst longer, in mid August was nearly half the price & the flight times were better too. Nice airport!

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the great review and sorry that the mossies were annoying we have never had previous complaints and suspect that due to the wet hot weather this year they came out in force!. Would love to have you back anytime!
