White Sands Beach Villas is a newly (2008) built apartment block on the beach at St. Lawrence Gap. Villa M is a one bed apartment on the second floor and has a west facing aspect from which to enjoy golden sunsets. The apartment is finished to a high standard, utilising cedar windows and doors and ceramic floor tiles throughout. St. Lawrence Gap is the night life hub of the island, featuring many bars and restaurants - some of which are among the Island's most celebrated. Despite these facilities being just a few minutes walk, White Sands Beach Villas are quiet and secluded and sleep is never disturbed. St Lawrence Gap is just 15 minutes from Grantley Adams Airport and about 20 minutes from the exciting Barbados capital of Bridgetown. Holetown and the West Coast are about a 30 minute drive. Between St Lawrence and Bridgetown, along the beautiful coast road are also situated the resort towns of Worthing, Rockley and Hastings. Access to further afield is also a simple affair.

About the Owner

We are a couple who have recently retired and we live in the suburbs of London. We have three grown up children all of whom love Barbados as much as we do. One of our sons was married on the Island in June 2009 and we had a great party prior to the wedding on the pool patio at White Sands Beach Apartments. It is a lovely venue, right on the sea - just perfect for a Caribbean party. We go to White Sands as often as we can and have made it a real home from home, which our visitors appreciate and enoy.

We have been coming to Barbados for 20 years and know the island well, and I was looking forward to seeing the property as I remember the original White Sands Apts.

We weren't disappointed, everything was perfect from the initial enquiry. Alan is great to deal with and nothing is to much trouble, the booking process is simple and quick, the information supplied for the apartment and the Island is truthful, concise and covers all pockets.

Alan arranged our airport transfer with Mr Jones (who also runs a local rum shop and it is worth a visit) very nice gentleman, and then we were met at the apartment, by Cyrus the assistant manager. We had a very informative handover and was left feeling we were going to be looked after, and we were nothing was to much trouble.

The apartment is lovely, bright and airy and has every convenience you need. The security at the apartments is very good also.

One of its great assests is the VERY short walk to the beach, then a very short walk to Tyrones beach bar and then the very short walk back to the apartment we eventually called it "The Golden Triangle". The beach is beautiful and clean and also small enough to feel quite private.

The surrounding bars and restaurants have something that appeals to all pockets. Tyrone does a great BBQ and Sunday lunch with local fare but enquire first as this maybe seasonal.

All in all it was great and We would highly recommend it.

Cricketing Bliss!!

Firstly, can I say what a joy Alan is to deal with. He was most helpful with providing hints and tips on things to do on the island as well as being highly organised in all my dealings with him.

Our visit to Barbados was primarily to support our son on a cricket tour and whilst, we didn't spend a great deal of time during the day in the apartment, we did find it ideal for our requirements in terms of location and quality of the apartment.

The apartment, as previously described, is located just off the Gap, in a perfect position, adjacent to a gorgeous beach. The apartment is within walking distance to the main 'strip' and would normally take approx 10 minutes to reach the main restaurants and bars. My only gripe is the noise from the bar at the front of the apartment block, which did interrupt our sleep on a couple of occasions, hence why I have knocked a star off my overall rating, although I accept there is little the owners can do about it. Otherwise, the apartment was spotlessly clean, is well equipped, and was perfect for our requirements. The terrace is fantastic and there was no better way to start the day than sitting there enjoying your breakfast.

This was our first visit to Barbados and the apartment met all our expectations. We did eat out every night, which was expensive, but so was the cost of food in the local supermarket, so at least it saved on the washing up! I would recomment this apartment and would be keen to stay again if we ever returned to the island.

Location

We have always loved St. Lawrence Gap, since our first visit in 1998. We stayed in a hotel just down the road from our apartment building. Since then, we have stayed in various locations across the island, but St Lawrence Gap remains 'The Place' for us. When we first saw the cleared site, which is now White Sands, we decided there and then to purchase an apartment for ourselves, and we have not been disappointed. We consider St. Lawrence Gap to be the best location on the Island, off the main road but busy enough to be interesting, with all the bars and restaurants you could wish for.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

White Sands Beach Villas are situated directly on a secluded beach. Dover Beach, further along the Gap is a 2 minute walk away.

Travel:

Grantley Adams International Airport is fifteen minutes away by car. Taxis are easy to come by - there is a taxi rank two minutes from the apartment. Also, several small car rental firms can also be found in the Gap within a few minutes' walk.

Distances:

St Lawrence Gap has banks, supermarkets, car rentals, shops, bars and restaurants a plenty. However a taxi or bus ride will take you to many other parts of the Island. Bridgetown is about 15 minutes, Oistins (for Friday night barbecues) is six minutes. Holetown and West Coast facilities are about 30 minutes away.

Further Details:

The island boasts all water sports and jet skis etc within a few minutes walk away at Dover Beach.

White Sands is right on the beach with a great beach bar next door where you can enjoy your favourite cocktails and beer from lunch to sundown. The Gap is a very friendly place, particularly around White Sands, which has a supermarket, an ATM and a couple of very good bars and an excellent food take away. The locals and visitors tend to sit outside there watching their number one love, cricket on the large TV .

  • Notes on accommodation: Air-conditioning is provided to the main living room and bedroom. The apartment is suitable for children but, we regret, we do not wish to welcome pets. We do not have a set non-smoking policy, although we would prefer our guests to smoke on the outside dining terrace. Outside: A private pool (540sq.ft) and sun patio, set in landscaped gardens is available to all residents. Plentiful secure car parking is available within the block. We have beach loungers for our guests in the storage beside the car park. This apartment block is wonderfully managed and our security guard and general help is always on hand to assist. There is also a beach bar next door at the Salt Ash Apartments, which provides wonderful Saturday night barbecues in the high winter season. Wonderful for a rum punch sundowner before back to the apartment for a shower and dinner. This beach is also a turtle beach, where the turtles come to lay their eggs and baby turtles are often around the grounds, waiting to be helped to the sea. Utility Room: Washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels (including beach towels) and all bedlinen for bed and sofa bed are included. Maid service once weekly. Extra maid visits available at extra cost. The apartment is managed by an excellent on site manager, who looks after our guest's every need. Other: The large dining terrace (balcony) contains a dining table and four chairs. There are also two matching loungers and this furniture is finished in weatherproof resin to look like rattan. A sideboard completes the furnishing of this delightful area.
