Seafront Villa / Garden Flat With Uninterrupted Sea And Mountain Views

Updated: 30-Nov-2016
Villa Garden Flat in Porto Buffalo, near Nea Styra, Island of Evia, Greek Islands - Right By The Water's Edge, 2 Mins Walk To Picturesque Harbor

Old Olives villa is located in Porto Buffalo, a peaceful picturesque fishing village that remains refreshingly untouched despite its proximity to Athens. It is an ideal ‘get away’ place and yet a convenient base for easy day trips to explore south Evia's natural, cultural and historical diversity and experience authentic Greece. Walk down the old cobble-stoned garden path and the sea is at your feet.

Old Olives garden flat, surrounded by 1.500 sq. meters of garden with olive, almond, oleander, pine and fig trees and a 30m seafront, comprises 2 double bedrooms with patio doors leading to a sheltered patio and the garden, 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen/living area. To the front are two very old olive trees (500ys old) offering an idyllic shady place to sit and relax with uninterrupted sea, sunset and mountain views, surrounded by the tranquil sound of gently lapping water. You're just ten steps away (literally) from a rejuvenating quick dip anytime of the day or night and 2 minutes stroll down to the picturesque harbour with 3 tavernas.

Perfect location for a relaxing holiday

5 out of 5

Review Submitted: 22 June 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011

Old Olives is the perfect property for a very quiet, relaxing holiday in a part of real Greece. The owners provided everything to make our holiday so comfortable. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. There were three seating areas to choose from outside, all with fantastic views and the canoes were great fun. Inside the house was perfect- all necessary equipment in the kichen- more than we've ever seen before in Greek accommodation.

The location was stunning, simply the best on this side of the island and to have direct access to the water was fabulous.

I'd recommend this to anyone who really wanted to get away from it all and be relaxed straight away. Enjoy the warm evenings in the comfortable chairs under the wonderful old olives!

Tranquil hideaway with a beautiful sea view

  • 4 of 5

This is a cosy two- bedroom and two shower-room cottage with a paved garden that has steps down to the sea. It is tucked away in a lovely small hamlet with 2 tavernas, and the nearest shopping is 10mins away. You need a car to stay here, but the joy is the lack of tourists, even in August. Sandy beaches are 20mins drive away, but we preferred the rocky one here on our doorstep. Kayaks, and inflatables made this fun for the children, and there is lovely terrace to sit out on and we used the outdoor BBQ some nights. It was very hot in August here, but it is Greece! Iris was extremely welcoming, and there was a very generous welcome basket of fruit, yogurt, cheese, wine, beer, bread - just perfect not to have to arrive and find the cupboard was bare. This is an ideal place to catch up on some good reading. The nearest reliable wifi is down at the taverna in the harbour. We much enjoyed going to the castle at Karystos, and also trips to the drakospiti houses. The roads are quite windy, hilly and variable and so it takes a long time to get from A to B on Evia. I would certainly recommend this, and it is suitable for people who like a peaceful place, and for children who are able to swim as there is no beach as such here, and you get in the sea down a couple of rocky steps.

What an idyllic spot for a holiday! We spent a blissful week snorkeling in the sea (which is literally at the bottom of the garden), exploring the island and gazing at the beautiful view. The apartment has everything you could possibly need and the bedrooms are air-conditioned so we had no trouble sleeping at night. Jill was there to meet us with a huge basket of fruit and veg when we arrived and was always on hand to advise us on trips and activities. She even lent the whole family swimming shoes. I cannot recommend this accommodation enough, we will definitely be returning in the future.

Perfect Greek get away

  • 4 of 5

On arriving at the flat it was everything it said it was, simple but had everything you needed. Breathtaking views, relaxing and quite. The instructions iris gave us were easy to follow which made it easy to get there. It was really well equipped and plenty of goodies left for us. Iris mum was staying upstairs and she was so helpful and a lovely person to get to know and her dog pearla. The village is small with two places to eat, not a lot of choice but if you like fish then that's the main dishes the owners are very friendly and make you feel like one of their family. The. Canoes were great out in them most days when we weren't exploring the beautiful island what we loved it was the old Greece I remember from my first trip to Greece over 30 years ago. Beds were really comfortable with good pillows which makes a good difference. Would we go back again a big yes. Now there was only one thing on the down side and that there was no internet even though it does say in the advert but some times it's good to have a break from all the technology so after the first few days we got used to it and was no longer a problem, there was free wifi in the village and lots of other places you could use. Lastly just to say thank you for 2 lovely week in a beautiful place

Idyllic and unspoilt

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned home after 6 nights at Old Olives and have to say we loved every minute of our stay. The location is tucked away with unbelievable views and yet is just a few minutes walk to the port with its friendly tavernas. The house is one of the best equipped we have stayed in and we loved all the thoughtful touches such as the beer and chilled glasses in the fridge and the fresh bread and vegetables when we arrived. Iris and Fortis were very helpful with directions and ideas for places to go and although we loved exploring Evia which is stunning and pretty untouched with tourism it was always good to return to the house in time to watch the sun set with a chilled glass of wine.

A taste of Greek paradise

  • 5 of 5

As previous reviews state, Old Olives is a perfect place to really get away from everything and relax as well as provide plenty of entertainment for three active boys. In fact the canoes, bikes and snorkelling equipment were well used by the whole family for little adventures around and about the little bay of Porto Buffalo.

With the help of Iris's clear directions, it's a great base to explore the island from. There are many beautiful beaches, mountains and wonderful tavernas to discover within easy driving distance and equally a couple of lovely tavernas run by such friendly people just 5 minutes walk away!

We all absolutely loved our two week holiday and were very sad to leave. It was a fantastic taste of Greek paradise... One definitely to be repeated!

Old Olives Porto Buffalo

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing week at Old Olives. Everything you could possibly need was provided including food items for when you first arrive. The canoes were great and we had a very enjoyable time. The view of the sea and watching the sunset each night was great. With the owners help we did a day trip to Athens on the ferry which worked out really well. We also did a few trips to other local bays. The previous reviews all reflect what we found at Old Olives. Iris was so helpful and friendly. Our children were quite happy just to spend their days at Old Olives which was great for us. Thank you.
