About vicky williamson

We have a small property company in the UK and holiday home in Brittany and a chalet near Morzine. We have several years experience of letting property both home and abroad. .My husband is an architect and he has been responsible for the total renovation of the french house and the interior design. We live in Lymington ,Hampshire. We are now retired have 2 sons and a labrador!

vicky williamson purchased this house in 2008

Why vicky williamson chose Quimper area

We love this area of Brittany, which is very similar to Cornwall with it's lovely beaches and unspoilt landscape. We were delighted to find the house , as it is rare to come across property so close to the sea, as most are not sold but handed down through the families. The house is of classic neo-breton architecture, solidly built and we have renovated it completely and put in new kitchen and bathrooms.Although it is only a ten minutes walk to the beach it is not remote, and the facilities of the town of Douarnenez are 5 km away. there are several lovely beaches nearby and the town of Quimper is a 20 minutes drive.

What makes this house unique

We have renovated the Breton house to a high standard, completely re-wired, re plumbed and redecorated. it has been designed to accommodate a large group- 2 families or an extended family. There are 2 sitting rooms, so that the children can watch TV, DVD, play music or snooker,on the ground floor, whilst adults can use the sitting room on the first floor in peace ! There are two bathrooms, one being a walk in shower room. It has been re-furbished to a good standard to create a comfortable home.

The house is very conveniently situated to explore the main attractions of the area of Brittany. Quimper is 15 minutes away, there are many beaches within 15 minutes and the sailing towns of Benodet and Concarneau are within an hour.

Very well appointed property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This property is well located in a quiet area close to the beach and the countryside. It matched up to the property description and was clean and well maintained. We met the local property caretaker when we arrived and she was very welcoming - as was the owner when we spoke with her before our arrival.

We explored the local area with many attractive walks as well as travelling south to places such as Carnac, Quimper and the beautiful Pont-Aven and north to Camaret-sur-Mer on the Crozon penninula.

There were plenty of maps and guide books in the property to satisfy most needs. We also enjoyed breakfast on the balcony in the morning and watching the setting sun in the evening. we would not hesitate to return

Excellently appointed house in beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

Excellent communication from the owner prior to, during and after our stay. We were met by the housekeeper and made to feel very welcome on arrival. The house was spotless and very nicely appointed. The house feels very secluded, like there is no-one within a several mile radius. The balcony overlooking the bay is particularly special.

Our only minor issues were that there is no garden for young children to go out and play in (though we were aware of this before we booked), there was no outside area that really caught the evening sun and the beach that was 15 mins walk from the property was covered in algae (though the one that was 5 mins drive from the property was beautiful).

Thank you for a lovely stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and i am pleased you had a good holiday. We do occasionally get algae on the left side of the beach if the weather is hot, they usually clean it off but perhaps not when you were there. However as you noted to far end of the beach is always algae free and only an extra few minutes walk. As you say there are several lovely beaches in the area not close to farm land which stay free of weed.

June in Britany

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this wonderful Breton style house just outside Duarnenez in Britany in early June this year 2016. The house although apparently built in the 1970s feels much older and has the style of almost a small mansion with attractive marble floors throughout on the ground floor and stairs and dramatic wrought iron bannister and railings.

Set in a beautiful woodland setting about 2 miles from Duarnenez the house has a lovely first floor balcony accessed from the lounge from which you can see the huge beach at Kervel about 1/2 a mile away as you sit out having breakfast.

The house is beautifully decorated and appointed and had every luxury with a huge ground floor family room with a snooker table and TV area where kids can hang out away from their parents who can relax in the first floor lounge above.

All in all a beautiful and stylish big house in a wonderful position a short walk from a fabulous beach. Five star accommodation.

Simply gorgeous

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay; the house was beautifully designed, full of comforts - comfortable chairs, beds, great bathrooms, big airy rooms and a really well equipped well designed kitchen. Even though it was just two of us, we really enjoyed the house. The terrace looking to the sea is a lovely place to dream away. Nothing but comfort and enjoyment to be had here.

We loved the surrounding area, the beach and Douarnenez were lovely - quiet and unspoiled, lots of lovely walks, restaurants, places to relax.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. I am delighted that you enjoyed the house and the surrounding area, and discovered that September is a wonderful time to visit with the mild temperatures and scenic walks. I am pleased that you appreciated the added comforts as it is really home away from home for us, and hopefully too for our guests. We would love you to visit again, thank you.
