Spacious, ground floor 2 bedroom apartment with air-conditioning in both bedrooms and living area with satellite TV, DVD player and gas fire, well equipped kitchen with one bathroom. The apartment has lift access to roof terrace, underground parking and other two floors. The Apartment has a large patio overlooking beautiful gardens. The Patio has outdoor furniture such as Table which seats 6 and 2 sun loungers. It has a wonderful large roof terrace (30 metres squared) with spectacular views over old town Tavira and the sea. It is walking distance into Tavira town centre (exactly 8 minutes), close to all amenities including bars, supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops, banks, railway and bus station. In a good location for access to an amazing 4 mile stretch of beaches with golden sands. From Faro Airport it takes 20-30 minutes to apartment on the A22. The nearest Golf course is Benamor. Also close to Ria Formosa nature reserve.

Superb apartment

I think it is fair to say that this was the best apartment we have rented so far. As soon as we walked through the door we were impressed, it smelt fresh, was very clean and well maintained and all the furnishings and bedding etc were very good quality, it didn't feel like a holiday let, nor did it feel like somebody else's home, we were so comfortable because it felt like our own home. We were planning to walk from the train station (which is less than 10mins walk) but as we arrived at Tavira and took out the map which Clive provided we were greeted by Jacky, who very kindly insisted she drive us to the apartment. Shortly after our arrival, whilst checking out the huge patio, we met the next door neighbour who invited us to a communal BBQ that was being held that evening in the gardens in the centre of the apartment block. Even though we were on the ground floor and the patio wall is low, we had total privacy from anybody passing by.

Tavira is a gorgeous traditional town, not too big, and was easily reached on foot, there are several routes to take so you won't get bored. Bus station and train station no more than 10 mins stroll. Lidl supermarket next to train station.

We took the train to Vila Real San Antonio (30mins and inexpensive) then the ferry across Spanish border to Ayamonte for the day, a lovely town and VRSA had a huge market which we visited on our return journey. The Portuguese people we met were so pleasant and helpful.

There are lots of nice restaurants all over the town but one I would particularly recommend for exceptional food is 'O Castelo' just below the castle on the road fromt the train station to the Roman Bridge, also another we liked was 'D'Gusta' on the other side of river between Roman and rail bridges.

The beaches are lovely, take the ferry to Ilha Tavira 1€ each way, also Praia Do Barril, we went by bus to Pedras del Rei then took the little tour train across to the beach where we were amazed by the stretch of beautiful golden sand, the Cemetry of Anchors and the sparkling Atlantic.

We would definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to anybody.

Lovely apartment close to all amenities, well equipped with everything you need.

We really enjoyed our stay in Tavira and the apartment is clean and spacious just like home from home. Close to the railway line going to Faro and Vila Real at the Spanish border. Supermarkets within easy walking distance so very handy for shopping. Very easy booking procedure and agent arranged transfers from and to airport.

Comfortable, well equipped accommodation.

Having returned to the Western Algarve and the Alentejo for our holidays each year since 1985, we had, for the last few years considered trying the Eastern Algarve and so in 2016 we had our first holiday in Tavira.Although our holiday and residence were good our stay this time was enhanced by the superb accommodation which we found to be very comfortable, clean and with many facilities as described in the itinerary and most importantly everything functioned as it should!

Communication is a very important aspect and was excellent throughout, particularly nice to have someone waiting at the accommodation to greet you.There would be no hesitation in recommending a stay here!

The location is convenient for the railway station( great value, $5.60 return to Vila Rea)l, bus station, town centre and restaurants and also supermarkets and traditional local market, all within a 10 to 20 minute radius.

We prefer to mix eating in the local restaurants with meals in the accommodation.Fresh food is very reasonable in price and excellent quality, as this is only our second holiday in Tavira we are still checking out the restaurants but the Avienda, Castello and Jorge and Lia are worth a visit.The Tuk-Tuk tours are good for seeing lots of the area in a short space of time, personal service, driver and yourselves,not cheap but we considered it whorthwhile.So what did we not like about Tavira? well, we are still looking!

Perfect place

Fantastic property, met by Christine who was very helpful. It was our 3rd time in Tavira and we like this side as it is an easy stroll to the centre and there are 3 supermarkets within walking distance too. The apartment is extremely well equipped and clean. It felt like home from home with all the little touches such as the rugs, lamps and ornaments. The large ground floor terrace got the sun from 9 till around 5 but there is also a roof terrace if you like the later sun and there was generally a pleasant breeze up there.We would definitely recommend this apartment and Tavira.

Coast/Beach:

Island of Tavira, 4 mile stretch beach, amazing golden sand.

There are many ways of getting to this beach as it is a Island. If you walk into the town centre (Exactly 10 minutes) there is a boat taxi (1 Euro Return) which takes you straight to beach with about 5 minute walk to sea front. Another way is by car which takes 5 minutes then train to beach. This strech on beaches includes fun water sports and lovely restaurants.

Travel:

30 minutes to faro Airport on A22 (30km).

30 minutes to Spanish Border (30km).

5 minute walk to railway and bus station.

Distances:

Faro: 30km.

Albufeira: 60km.

Vilamoura: 35 minutes.

Vila Real de San Antonio: 20km.
