Villa in Fox Amphoux, Nr Aups, Var. Provence - Set In One Acre (4000sq.M) Of Grounds Close To The Fabulous Verdon Regional Park, Peace And Quiet

Our fabulous modern 3 bedroom villa offers spacious and comfortable accommodation for 7 people. A large 11mx5m pool with its wide terrace give access to a mix of sun or shade under trees or parasols. We designed the house to be light and airy, and the spacious living room and master bedroom both open out on to the wide south facing covered terrace with views across the grounds to countryside and hills. The large modern kitchen is equipped to a high standard + all 3 bedrooms have their own private en-suite with shower and toilet - plus a bath in the master bedroom. Set in 1 acre of grounds close to the Verdon Regional Park with the beautiful Lac de Ste Croix for swimming/water sports and the amazing Gorges du Verdon for sightseeing or rambling. There are a multitude of hill-top Provençal villages to explore, plus great restaurants in nearby towns and villages. Provençal heat during the days but cool in the evenings and a fabulous night sky with a lack of light pollution.

About David Neale

We live in the new South Downs National Park, and our house in France is right on the edge of Verdon Regional Park, so we like countryside and we love visiting our house in France; it is quiet, private but close enough to towns, villages, lakes, sea and scenery that to us - it is perfection.

Our new grandchildren are beginning to really appreciate the opportunities that the house brings, while the acre of ground has many different areas to explore and run around in, that is if we can get them out of the pool.

Why David Neale chose Haut-Var - Verdon

Our family holidays were always taken in France, dragging a caravan around from the top of Brittany to the Med - a different location every year.

Our first visit to this area was in 1994, and we returned year on year, finding something new on each visit.

When we had the opportunity to buy a plot of land, we spent 2 or 3 years searching for the right one, before deciding on Fox Amphoux, and then designing and building the house.

When designing it we always had 'spacious' in mind and we feel that the house gives the feel of space, tranquility, light, and relaxation. We are very pleased with the result.

What makes this villa unique

Our guests have sometimes remarked on things that we have taken for granted, butterflies in spring, the lack of light pollution at night and the view of the stars, as well as major attractions like the gorge or the lake. Personally, we are just so enthusiatic abut the multiple opportunities for water-sports, walking, sight-seeing that we can't wait to be there.

The winter of 2009 saw the installation of an 11m * 5m swimming pool by a local company - somewhere to cool down on those hot Provençal afternoons, and during 2011 we completed the wide pool surround by paving it - again by the same company and to the same high standard.

Our work in recent years has been to improve the land by planting grass and shrubs and installing seats and benches in the grounds as somewhere to relax and read or just contemplate in peace.

Spacious, airy, modern villa with a fabulously large pool set in a beautiful part of Provence

We returned to this property as we loved it so much last year. It's a beautiful part of Provence - hills for hiking, gorges for boating and lakes for swimming. There are also plenty of local vineyards and olive groves to visit, sample and buy. For the keen cyclists, the base of Mont Ventoux is only a couple of hours drive away, passing through wonderful Luberon countryside and starting in the UNESCO listed town of Sault. More locally, there's the captivating Parc de Verdon and pretty places of Tourtour, Cotignac and Fox-Amphoux itself. The property is spacious, bright and modern with everything you would need provided. Every bedroom has an en-suite and the enormous kitchen is well equipped and stocked with plenty of crockery and cutlery. We converted the ample parking area into our petanque court for some fun family evening games, and the pool is enormous - handy for those doing lengths whilst children swim and play at the same time. There is a wide choice of typically french nearby places to eat or a large Super U is 10 miles away if you wanted to eat in. Thank you for making our second stay in Provence wonderful.

Stunning villa in a lovely area of France

We were looking forward to our stay in Fox-Amphoux and hoping the villa La Taniere was as good as the photos suggested - we were not disappointed in any way. The villa was stunning with everything thought of to make our stay as relaxing and comfortable as possible. On arrival the villa was clean and everything was as detailed in the listing. A fantastic pool with many areas to relax in the shade during the hot periods of the day and a challenging driveway on which to play petanque! The area includes beautiful landscapes, dramatic waterfalls, picturesque villages and especially the stunning Gorges du Verdon where we took a pedalo up the gorge. There were so many outings we could have considered but thoroughly enjoyed relaxing around the villa and playing in the pool. Before going we just wanted to find a villa that we wanted to go back to - and we did. We very much look forward to going back. What a Wonderful Villa

On the 2nd of August 2014 we started our holiday, we had chosen La Taniere owned by Stephnie & David Neale because we thought it looked ok in the pictures. When we arrived we looked at the villa looked at each other and said WOW if this villa is the right one we are going to have a fantastic holiday. We were met by Ray who looks after the villa and he let us in, gave us the keys and said knock yourself out . The villa is set out brilliantly big lounge/dinner/kitchen with everything you need and more.There are three double bedrooms each en-suite with showers with the master bedroom having a bath in the en-suite as well .The French doors open onto the terrace/dinning area from both the lounge and the master bedroom which overlooks the pool area which is really nice area to relax in.The pool itself is great, the villa is set In approx. 1 acre land and therefore you can have a mooch around the garden which is rural and full of wild birds and insects. The area around the villa is of forest and trails so if you take a bike its yours to explore there is a local store and pub 2 kms down the road towards Aups and the nearest super u is 5 kms at Regusse .You do need a vehicle to get around as the villa is rural but that is what we liked about it ,peace and quiet. Marks out of ten this villa is a big nine we have been going to France on holiday a good Thirteen years and this is the best one yet .We would definitely recommend .

A superb holiday home

We spent a fabulous two weeks in this excellent holiday home from home. The house is the best we've ever stayed in having plenty of space, all the facillities you could ever need and a wonderful pool!

It is situated in a very quiet area within easy travelling distance of Aups and is a great centre for exploring the region. It takes under an hour to reach the coast at St Maxime, St Raphael or Frejus and less to reach the stunning Gorge de Verdun/Lac de Sainte Croix. Whether you want to sight-see, indulge in water sports, just chill out or do a combination of any or all of these - this is an ideal location to enjoy them in style.

Amazing property

The villa is in a reasonably remote part of the Provence region of France, though if you have a car you can easily get to a number of very interesting parts of the region, or even drive to Nice/Monaco. The villa itself is among the best we've stayed in, a new build with an excellent open-plan layout, with all bedrooms having excellently equipped en-suite bathrooms.

It also has excellent wifi which is essential for us these days, and a superb, larger than average pool. The kitchen is superbly equipped with outside BBQ as well if you choose to cook for yourself, which we did on a number of occasions.

I would highly recommend the property for a family travelling down by car, though a car is absolutely essential given the remoteness, there is nothing within walking distance.

The only thing it could do with is something else for the kids such as a table tennis table outside, but this is a very minor point. The owner David and his local support (both English) were incredibly supportive, and are more than happy to provide details of local activities/land-marks to ensure you get the very best out of your holiday.

Our pool has an automatic electrolysis, salt disinfection system without the addition of chlorine, and is normally available from June to the end of September. The solar powered cover is easy to use and provides safety in accordance with French law. Fans are provided for each bedroom, + a tower fan for the living room. Outside: We have one acre of grounds with a variety of environments - wooded shade with benches to relax and read on, open areas, grassed cultivation and wilder spaces. If you like to play boule, the hard standing of the drive is a near perfect surface for an evening tournament - but whatever you choose to do, the one acre of grounds gives you privacy and space to wander or relax in. The wide covered shady terrace on the south facing rear of house has views across the valley to woods, farmhouses and hills. The house is surrounded by drive and hard-standing with plentiful parking on the wide driveway to the side of the house. At night-time the lack of light pollution gives an astonishing view of the night sky for star gazers. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Fresh towels and bed linen are provided (also cot sheets) for each week and the house is professionally cleaned between rentals. Additional cleaning has never been needed but is available at an additional charge.
