Luxury Apartment in Les Deux Alpes, France - Easy Access To Town And Slopes

Our chalet apartment was newly rebuilt in 2007. It has high, vaulted ceilings and exposed beams to provide a modern clean and airy space with charm and character in a great location. The Sejour (combined living & dining room) opens onto a full length, west facing balcony to catch the afternoon sun. Three full, private bedrooms sleep up to 6 people. The master bedroom opens on second large balcony with an unimpeded view of the far mountains. There is a well-appointed kitchen for self-catering or you can dine out reasonably every night. The Vallee Blanche Liaison (green run) is a 150m walk and serves both sides of the resort and then the Jandri Express lift to the glacier for ski in / ski out throughout the season. Located in a peaceful neighbourhood, there is a mini-supermarket just next door with shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Les Deux Alpes is a lively resort offering a variety of ski and snowboard terrain including the largest ski-able glacier in France - suitable for beginners and experienced skiers.

Sarah and I really love skiing - there is no better antidote to the grey British winters. We chose Les Deux Alpes because the glacier guarantees snow - and because our kids like to snowboard. It avoids being too pretentious and it is not a concrete jungle. You feel like you are in Europe, the resort is very popular with French and Italians. It's a lively resort with something for everyone, even if you don't ski - but our location is just enough off the main drag to avoid disturbance from late night revellers. It's pretty affordable and easy to get to from Grenoble or Lyon airports.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

During the summer months, there is a wide variety of activities such as swimming (there are 2 outdoor pools in addition to the bathing lake), karting, hiking, golf, skateboarding, parapenting, white water rafting, tennis & mountain biking. The local walks are varied and beautiful. The resort lays on a whole range of community activities to cater to visitors - firework displays, farmers markets, etc. which vary from week to week.


A newly landscaped bathing lake is situated in the about meadows about 500m from the chalet. Complete with childrens play area and picnic facilities; it has spectacular views over the surrounding mountains. Kids can enjoy crossing the bridge to the island; with a natural mountain brook that runs over a fun waterfall.


Nearest airports are Lyon and Grenoble with regular flights from all the UK airports to both. Bus links from both airports plus car hire available - you could be at the resort in under 2 hours from Lyon.

Les Deux Alpes is approximately 7-8 hour drive from Calais and easily accessible by car.


Alpe d'Huez is 32km. Serre Chevalier is 67km.

Valloire 62km. Montgenevre and the Italian Alps 74km.

Further Details:

A small and friendly Casino mini-supermarket is just 2 buildings away. TriBeCa is a charming local pizzeria (400m walk). The rustic Kanata restaurant on Pied Moutet is fantastic for lunch or just a quick genepi. Windsor Pub is great for socializing. Try the Porte d'a Cote for more sophisticated dining.

We really value the fact that we have a fabulous view straight from the master bedroom, and a really sunny deck for a relaxing apres ski verte du vin. What really drew us to the apartment was the wood beams and eves - character even in a newly built chalet. The mountain has some great spots off the beaten track - try Kanata (the "hippy hut" on Pied Moutet side) or La Fee (at Xmas you get 20 minutes of sun on their terrace if you time it right). In contrast, Le Diable au Coeur is a very luxurious restaurant at the top of the first chairlift form town. La Grave is an entire off piste resort that interconnects with Les Deux Alpes for the truly adventurous (ski guide needed).

  • Notes on accommodation: Every room has an individually adjustable electric radiator. Outside: Two large balconies offer a sunny aspect (from the sejour) and views (from the master bedroom) providing an additional sense of space and light. Utility Room: There is a utility / cloak cupboard in the main hallway. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We have a friendly, English speaking local agent who provides keys, handles security deposit, weekly maid service and linen pack. She can provide ski passes and a welcome pack and advice on ski hire and lessons. Late night key pick ups by arrangement. Other: Plentiful parking is available outside the chalet. A secure garage on the ground floor is available to store bikes (summer only).
