Large Andalucian Farmhouse, stunning views, pool & gardens, close to Natural Park

Updated: 11-Oct-2016
Large Andalucian Farmhouse, close to village of Colmenar, Malaga Province - Fantastic Location To Rest, Relax, Walk, Ideal For Daytrips To Granada, Ronda, Malaga, Near Village

This impressive Andalucian farmhouse, located in an elevated position, amongst olive and almond groves, has the most stunning views. Overlooking the valley, across white-washed villages, the scenery stretches across to the Tejeda mountain range. The farmhouse has been a family home for many years and in the process, has been lovingly restored to a high standard yet has retained many of its original features. The rooms all have the traditional beamed ceilings, many with terracotta floor tiles, open fire places/wood burning stoves, decorative wrought iron lights and beautiful wooden doors. 'Modern' and 'comfort' have been sympathetically introduced and the farmhouse is furnished in an ecclectic fashion including antiques along with modern necessities. The large farmhouse kitchen is the core of the house, along with plenty of rooms to relax, watch tv and read. The bedrooms are all prepared with fresh cotton linen and towels, are spacious and airy and again all have spectacular views. The outside of the property is a delight and is an important part of a normal holiday enjoying the pool, gardens and views. The mature gardens with mediterranenan trees, flowers and shrubs is a beautiful feature of the property. There is a newly added outside kitchen with fridge, oven and hob close to the small courtyard area finished in local stone which is cool and shaded. There is also a large gas BBQ. The terraces are extensive, the main one surrounding the pool and has sunbeds all with comfortable padded cushions. Here there is also a gazebo with shaded dining/seating area and also plenty of room for the table tennis table. The other side of the house also has another large enclosed and secure patio ideal for younger children. It has Moorish arches, plenty of shade, seating areas and panoramic views. Colmenar is the nearest local village and has good tapas bars, restaurants, local shops, weekly fruit and veg market, banks, butchers, bakeries, chemist, 24 hour medical centre etc.

Our farmhouse is an ideal location if you also intend to explore this beautiful area. The main dual carriageway heading inland or to the coast is only 10 kms away. Historic Granada has the famous Alhambra Palace, Malaga has its Gibalfaro castle, Cathederal, new Muelle Uno marina with great shops and restaurants and the old town has traditional tapas bars. Also a huge selection of restaurants from simple to 1 Michelin Star, Picasso Museum, small boutiques etc. Cosmopolitan Marbella with its beaches and Orange Square, Nerja with its famous Balcon de Europa, Burriana Beach, Ronda with its bullring and gorge, Cordoba with its ancient Mezquita to name but a few. Lots of other beaches and shopping centres are all an easy trip and the airport is approx 30 mins.

About the Owner

My husband and I moved to this beautiful region 16 years ago...and are still singing its praises! Our children were born here and have totally embraced the Spanish way of life and language. We endured many years of toil, mañana syndrome, heat, frustration, situations lost in translation.....you've heard it all in the novels! We now run our own exclusive property rental business here in this spectacular region. We have a selection of beautiful properties to suit most peoples' requirements, with private pools, gardens and fabulous views. It was worth it, sometimes we even squeeze a little time to enjoy the sunshine, relaxing way of life and fabulous regional cuisine....and vino! Our extensive knowledge of the area we also pass on to clients to ensure they have a wonderful time.

We have just returned from 10 days at this beautiful farmhouse feeling relaxed and refreshed. No one wanted to go home - what a find! We love Andalucia and have visited many times but this has been our favourite place to stay by far!

The perfect mix of exploring and relaxing, table tennis and the trampoline were a real hit and the barbecue was fired up most nights as we ate outside admiring the fabulous views.

The local village provided ample choice of food and great wine for self catering which meant we ate in every night - it was too good not to!

The house itself was large and rambling which provided plenty of space for us all and the reviews are right - very comfy beds.

We all loved it!

Angela was the perfect hostess - just there when you needed her.

Thank you so much for such a lovely holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your great review. Very pleased that you enjoyed our lovely farmhouse and also the beautiful area in which we live. It definetly has lots to offer and we are still exploring the vast expanse of Andalucia, its history, traditions , sleepy villages , beautiful scenery, hidden beaches and historic cities ourselves! Difficult to explain how great the views are but now you know! Previous clients have often mentioned that the views are much better than they expected, so thank you for agreeing. Andalucia is beautiful and maybe we will see you all gain sometime in the future. Many thanks Angela.

Fab for families

This is the second time we have stayed at this glorious farmhouse as a family. The children have plenty of things to keep them occupied, chickens, walks, trampoline, tree house, table tennis along with the requisite pool and sunshine! A real home from home and extremely comfortable and a bonus , good quality cotton sheets! I really am transfixed with the views each time we have stayed and the gorgeous countryside. Although located in the countryside, waving to the goat herder each evening and watching the sunrise over the mountains, the village is not too far away. It also has an excellent bakery and butchers along with the normal small supermarkets. A great help was the info. book which gave us new ideas which we would not normally have known about. The Wolf Park near Antequera and the new Marina at Malaga are well recommended and roof top cocktails!...Thank you Angela, a great idea for my sons birthday. Angela was very helpful which made our stay even more enjoyable.

We will be booking again next year , probably September this time. Muchas Gracias

An amazing house with fabulous views

  • 5 of 5

We had 7 days of bliss. The house is homely, tastefully furnished with ample space. The house excessed our expectations. With five adults, 3 children and 1 infant their is plenty to do and fun to be had. The kids loved the pool and playing table tennis for hours plus adventuring amongst the olive trees. An excellent and handy location with stunning views. We had the best time and Angela our host was friendly and helpful. Thank you Angela for letting your beautiful farm house to us, we truly had a wonderful Spanish holiday.

From the Owner

We arrived in Spain looking for a sea view and bought a view to see! Words cannot describe the spectacular , panoramic views from the property that we encountered on our first visit, all illuminated by a bright full moon. It was love at first sight! The area was, and still is a real " breath of fresh air" , rolling countryside, beautiful scenery, quaint, Moorish villages steeped in history and traditions, a slow pace of life and of course the sunshine. Who wouldn't appreciate that! Great location for exploring Andalucia or the beaches, water parks and shopping complexes are only 35 minutes away. This spacious, comfortable property offers complete relaxation,to swim, sunbathe, read, catch up with family & friends. An ideal place to unwind and enjoy.

From the Owner

We are located in a Natural Park, the surrounding countryside is rich in the flora and fauna of this Mediterranean region. Beautiful for walking in cool pine forests, exploring, seeking out neolithic cave painting, ancient dolmans' and the fabulous rock formations in the Torcal near Antequera The farmhouse is however only a short drive from the village with plenty of shops to stock up on essentials. The main coastal motorway linking you to all of Andalucia is only 6 kms away so the hustle and bustle of coastal/city life is still only a short drive away. We would like to think that our family home is enjoyed as much by our visitors, as we have done ourselves for many years. Modern comforts in a beautifully reformed Andalucian farmhouse, reflecting a bygone age in all its glory.
