Cottage remains as charming as ever, but lacks a bit of TLC.

Information about parking is out of date. It took quite some time to resolve this issue. Once sorted we enjoyed the rest of the holiday.

The side patio really needs tidying and the plants could do with cutting back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. It helps us to improve on things for future guests and hopefully future stays for your self. We have not been over to Barmouth for several months before your stay and would agree the garden needed a little attention. This has now been done. In addition we were unaware that the small car park we have always used now belongs to the Tilman. We were also not aware that the parking costs had increased so much this season on the seafront car park. I have updated our instructions to reflect this new information. We have also been since your stay to do some decorating and have painted the front gate as well. I'm glad overall you enjoyed your stay and thank you again for the feedback. Regards Dave

lovely old property

  • 3 of 5

The bathroom situation was a bit odd, if there had been anybody staying with us we would have had to have gone through their bedroom to get to the bathroom which is not very good at all, also the stairs, although there was only 7 or 8 they were very narrow and VERY steep,my husband and I are in our 60's and struggled with them, especially in the night, an en suite in the main bedroom would be great. All the other facilities were good and Dave the owner was very helpful.

Lovely little house - just mind the stairs!

  • 4 of 5

Booked this place for a surprise anniversay weekend, and we were not disappointed. We love Barmouth anyway, but this is the most conveniently situated place we've stayed in, right in the middle of the town, and a beautiful listed building. Only real downside is that the bathroom is upstairs, via a narrow windy staircase, which wasn't much fun if you have to pop to the loo in the middle of the night, especially if you have creaky knees! But that certainly isn't the owners fault; the house was lovely to stay in, clean, with all mod cons including TV and DVD player. Dave was also very nice to deal with, so I would recommend Pen-Y-Grisiau to anyone looking to stay in Barmouth.

Beautiful Historic Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Although cottage is in need of a little updating, it in no way affects your stay as the cottage is clean and tidy and a lovely, lovely place to stay. It's very central and perfect for walking around town, beach and visiting all the bars and restaurants. The station is a short distance away but you are not close enough to be disturbed by the railway. The local scenery is stunning and you can reach all the sights very easily, if you want to get away from the seaside town. Parking outside is one hour between 9am and 6pm, but if you go down alley to left of cottage and go right through to road behind, there is a makeshift car park for £3 per day and £3 per night, can pay for whole week. Tell them where you are staying and they will remember you! Very handy!

Great cottage in the centre of Barmouth

  • 4 of 5

Just back from 4 nights stay in this great cottage. It was handy for the town, bike trails, beach and restaurants without having to use the car. The cottage was more spacious than we expected, easily catering for 4 adults and well modernised but still full of character. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
