Chateau Caillac is located on the edge of a pretty village. The property has its own jetty and direct access to the river Lot which make it ideal for those who enjoy canoeing, rowing or fishing. The river is fenced and gated for the safety of any small children.The Chateau sits within 5 acres of private gardens with mature trees and lawns. With round turreted staircase and balconied landing the Chateau appears to have come straight out of a fairytale. Lovingly restored and refurbished to provide luxury accommodation for your holiday. Experience the ambiance of living in a Chateau in the South West of France. Enjoy the typical French way of life meeting the locals in the village with its restaurant, shop and bar. There are local markets to explore and river activities which make Chateau Caillac the ideal location for your next holiday. There is a downstairs bedroom in the chateau with wheelchair access. The gite is all on the ground floor also.

About the Owner

Steve and Angela bought the Chateau in 2004 after owning a luxury ski apartment in the Alps for a number of years beforehand. They love everything about France, the food, the wine, the area, not to mention the friendly people.They spend as much time in France as they can, outside of the holiday season. As well as sharing their French Chateau with the summer guests they also own and run an engineering company in Cheshire. When they are not at the Chateau they live in Cheshire with their 2 dogs, Rolf and Skip and 2 cats, Tilly and Molly.

We are an extended family of about 17 and have been sharing our holidays for many years. Aged from 16 to 90 we look for a place that caters for everyone's needs and this chateau certainly did! We loved it. The rooms are spacious, pretty with lovely views; the kitchen is extremely well equipped; the cosy sitting room with English tv was much appreciated during the Wimbledon finals and the British Grand Prix. The gardens, riverfront setting, pool and outside eating area are all delightful. Those of us who organised the cooking appreciated the outdoor barbecue area with dishwasher! The selection of bicycles was truly extensive - and all in excellent order. We feel this will be a very hard act to follow and would love to return.

Location

From the Owner

The Riverside location was the biggest draw for us. There is nothing to match the feeling you get when you sit outside this beautiful Chateau looking across the garden to the river. There are plenty of Chateaux in France, but most of them are hidden away in remote places. Chateau Caillac stands within its own grounds therfore giving adequate privacy whilst being positioned close to a village thats within walking distance.

Travel:

45 mins from Bergerac airport. 1.5 hour from Bordeaux airport. Airport transfers can be arranged. Car Hire available at the airport.

Within walking distance of lovely village with summer evening markets. There is a small town, Castelmoron, just a couple of miles away with a restaurant, bar, hairdressers, butchers, bakery, newsagents, pharmacy, weekly market and banks.

There are a number of large supermarkets a short drive away.

The area has many lovely restaurants to suit all budgets.

Notes:

  • www.chateaucaillac.com Small dogs considered. No smoking inside the Chateau Private pool with pool house patio. The pool area has its own outside kitchen with a commercial gas griddle, dishwasher, fridge and outdoor eating area. There is direct river access from the garden and there is a small fishing boat and canoe for your use. The river is fenced and the gate can be locked for the safety of your children. The Chateau stands in its own 5 acre garden with lawned areas and beautifull mature trees which provide ample space for children to play or for you to wander and enjoy. Utility Room: There is a washing machine and seperate sink and freezer in the large garage/utility area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, house towels, and swimming towels included. The property is cleaned weekly on a Saturday, however extra services may be booked and paid for locally. Other: Flatscreen satellite TV. WIFI broadband. Swimming towels provided. Large selection of bikes for your use,including 2 tandems.
