Guestbook comments from the manager

1st comment: The property was excellent, with everything we could possibly need and more. We had a fantastic Christmas!!!. The property is very well maintained and we all felt very much at home. The property is perfectly situated for visiting a huge variety of places including Banburgh, Alnwick, Newcastle, Coldstream and Edinburgh.

2nd comment: The cottage was fantastic. Very clean, well furnished and stocked with lots of things that made it feel like home. The garden was lovely and we particularly enjoyed watching the birds feeding.

3rd comment: The property was splendid and exceeded our expectation. Although we did not have any children with us there was certainly enough toys and DVDs/Videos to keep them amused in the evenings.

4th Comment: Clean, well appointed and comfortable accommodation. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in, and well located in a beautiful part of the country. We would certainly recommend it.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Milfield Hill Steading was once part of a large country estate that dates back to the 1750s; it was owned by the Grey family until 1967 and was the birthplace of the social reformer Josephine Butler. The area’s rich history will delight all age groups. There are the medieval ruins of Etal and Dunstanburgh and the grandeur of Bamburgh and Alnwick Castles, all within easy driving distance. In addition, there is Holy Island with its fairytale Lindisfarne Castle and the Farne Islands with its seals and puffins to visit. The stunning expanse of North Northumberland coastline AONB offers tremendous variety, with its long, uncrowded sandy beaches, attractive fishing villages and little seaside resorts. Outside: Generous enclosed private gardens with patio and furniture. Virtually from the doorstep there are great walks in the area; the Cheviot’s ‘rounded hills’ and the Pennine Way, offer a challenging terrain, popular with walkers and bird-watchers. In addition, there are opportunities for cycling, gliding, horse riding and golf.
