About the Owner

The owner is a former University Professor of Aerospace Engineering and of Finance and Ex Adviser to International Economic Development Funds.

Now, he is involved in international consulting in project investment with special interest in Renewable Energies.

Although my mother was from a Spanish origin, may be I should have been drawn to Andalusia. I really love green Spain and its Atlantic Costa Verde to choose it to have a home and an office.

Having grown up partially in Brazil makes Portugal, only 5 km away, an added attraction to bring me here.

The micro-climate we have brings us many days of sun and pleasant warm days. According to 30 year NASA statistics, we have as much sun as Valencia on the Mediterranean!!

Great base for family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Villa Esperanza is a nice villa situated 4km from the local town of Tomino.

On the border with Portugal the area offers the best of both countries.

The villa is large and well equipped with a nice outdoor pool.

Viktor and Nati are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble and Viktor's knowledge and suggestions were well received.

As a family of cyclists this area is a dream. From the lengthy tarmac river path that runs for 100s of KM along the River Minho to the great roads and lengthy climbs and descents this is a roadies dream.

We even saw the Vuelta come in only 15mins drive away.

Could not have asked for anymore. If you are looking for a great family holiday its an ideal place to stay.If your looking to emulate the pro pelaton it is also the place to cycle with beautiful scenery, cafes and restaurants.

Could not be better!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday here for the third time. The villa has everything you could want and the views are fantastic. The best part though is the wonderful hospitality from both Victor and Nati who can show you places that you would otherwise not see in what is a very beautiful part of Spain/Portugal. The villa is ideal for those who like walking and is also easy driving of some lovely beaches.

A delightful place with a most helpful host

  • 5 of 5

This really is an excellent place to spend a week, or more if you have time which, sadly, we didn't. The villa is very spacious and well equipped and the area has much of interest. Our only complaint was that the sea was very cold! Apparently the Gulf Stream misses the area, but this was more than made up for by the swimming pool of which we made much use.

Victor, our host, couldn't have been more helpful; he took us out to an excellent lunch and a tour of Vittoria, a local and historic town, on its market day and also invited us round for cheese and wine (something of an understatement) which made for a most pleasant evening.

Couldn't recommend the place more highly.

The property was really gorgeous.

  • 5 of 5

The property was really well situated and very, spacious, clean and comfortable. Also, the location is excellent. Very close to the Portuguese border, so lots of lovely towns, villages and beaches to visit. The region is very green and the local food and wine delicious. We would really highly recommend the villa. The owner, Viktor, is a most excellent host.

A wonderful, unforgettable holiday

  • 5 of 5

Villa Esperanza is an exceptional place in so many ways. The house itself is spacious and comfortable, set in stunning gardens with beautiful views. But what made our holiday truly special was the warmth of the welcome we received from Victor and Nati. We were treated like friends and nothing was too much trouble. We will never forget our holiday and we hope to return one day to visit again.

The region was interesting to explore and there were many places to visit within a relatively short drive from the peaceful villa itself. We would certainly recommend this villa to anyone wishing to visit this part of Spain.

Lovely house for a family and friends

  • 5 of 5

This house is a really well-proportioned property up a valley, with views down towards the river Minho. It has 3 rooms, all with 2 double beds - so plenty of space. The house is has lovely decorations and a has everything you would need for a long (or short) stay.

The pool is perfectly located and the terrace it is on demands a view over the valley,

This is farming area and the odd sound of sheep bleating, a horse, a tractor or the local church bells are a nice background addition.

The house also has a games room, complete with a very recently installed table tennis table. Perfect for a challenge with the kids, or friends.

The Minho area has many good restaurants, cafes, and lots of activities, such as hiking, kayaking, boat rides etc. etc. The beaches are pristine, especially towards the end of the Minho river. The area is not too touristy, but has a lot of very interesting archaeology and old towns to view on both the Galician and Portuguese sides of the river.

Ask the owner for advice - they really know the area and are more than willing to help.

The villa is luxurious and cozy, with beautiful garden and pool where one could enjoy the lovely open view and hear the trickling water of the creek. The area has a pleasant micro-climate;lovely springs & summers, and template winters. It is green, hilly with ocean and river beaches close by. It is less than one hour from three international airports in Portugal and Spain. The region, although known to tourists, is tranquil, and near all amenities of nearby towns & major urban cities. Being on the borders of Portugal and Spain, it is immersed in the culture, history, and beauty of the two countries. One would spend a relaxed vacation, and at leisure, enjoy all the outdoor cultural places and enjoy water and mountain activities the area has to offer.

Facilities

From the Owner

The villa is ample, quaint, rustic yet modern, and luxurious. From the terraces one would contemplate rural activities while admiring the vast panoramic views of Portugal and the hills around. The private pool, the creek that passes by and the lovely garden add to the feeling of relaxing, while being at home. If up to it, from the gate, you may follow trails for kilometers in the hills up to the ocean if you want. You could go mountain biking, horse back riding, or discovering prehistoric petrographic spots in the near by hills. Also, the famous Camino de Santiago of Portugal passes just by the property.
