fantastic villa

  • 4 of 5

The villa was a home from home. Very clean, well maintained & comfortable. We particularly loved the outdoor space, the heated pool was a bonus!

The villa needs a car as it's a fair walk to the centre & supermarkets (especially carrying water!) Although taxis are cheap & readily available. One of our party has mobility issues & hiring a car was essential.

Regina was very friendly & helpful, we were really impressed by how she managed the property. She also arranged our transfers.

Over rated and over priced

  • 2 of 5

We were are family of 6 adults staying at this villa, which was described as luxury. There are a lot of areas that need addressing, if this is to reach a luxury standard.

Inside a few more minor issues.Main lounge 3 pendant lights, only one worked, second bedroom, set of drawers with 2 lots of handles missing. Towels provided, but non matching and some appear to be beach towels that people have left.

Main bedroom, smelt very musty, damp problem on the walls and paint peeling off. Even worse inside the wardrobes, paint peelings all on the floor, and we had to leave the doors open so clothes did not smell. Main light in bedroom, not working. On suite bathroom, again musty smell and a toilet plunger on the shelf in the bathroom. The view from the window, a washing line with a towel, bedsheet and bathmat ,on there all week.

Outside the villa, was were it was the most disappointing. The pictures on the website are obviously a few years old.The pool was clean, but the underwater light was dangling off the wall.

On day one,the furniture was all dirty and tatty, under the table when the chairs were pulled out was filthy.4 tatty sunbeds, not the 6 as advertised. Steps up to the roof terrace covered in bird poo, the double bed on the roof far too dusty to sit on.

The BBQ absolutely filthy !! Lots of scrubbing and 2 cycles in the dishwasher.. still filthy. The area around the BBQ filthy, all bits on the floor, also a tatty plastic trolley and tatty old washing line.

The 2 mountain bikes, were in a lean too at the side of the villa. the lock was broken so the door was kept shut with a big boulder, that was very heavy to move. The bikes again, filthy and so rusty, looked like they had not used in years.

One evening we had a BBQ and the gas bottle ran out. We contacted Regina, who had a spare bottle but she told us we would have to pay, and would not bring it round at 9.30pm despite apparently living near, so we had to finish cooking the food inside. The next day we had to go to the nearest petrol station and buy more gas !

This is certainly not a luxury villa, and I would not recommend it. It needs some time, money and effort spending on it.

Owner's Response: I really didn't want to have to respond to this email in a manner that I am not accustomed to but I feel that you have left me with no choice at all. To sum you stay up very briefly , it seem you let yourself into the villa at 11.30am before Jason had arrived to do the garden terraces and windows, you told him the place wan fine and did not want him to clean, he noted in his report to me that you were all drinking alcohol from the time you arrived, I then called that evening to welcome you and ask if Jason could come back the next day, I found it difficult to speak to any of you as all of you had had too much to drink and the week continued that way. on the night of The BBQ incident I tried to calm you on the phone as I had in fact gone and got a gas that evening for you, but the abuse and profanities you screamed down the phone at me at 9 pm at night as I was putting my kids to bed left me with no choice but to hang up on you. The last thing I wanted to do was write any of the above but you really have left me with no choice. I did listen to all of your criticisms and took on board that the bikes are old, we have now thrown them out and we did replace the sunbeds. I have kindly asked all the happy guest that have stayed at the villa after you to give me an honest review which I hope people will read and take into account when choosing this villa.

Our family loved this villa. We'll be back!

We have stayed in this villa before and it is better than home from home. Everything you need for your holiday is here. It's comfortable and clean. And assistance (if needed) is always available from Regina who is close by. I can't wait to go back.

Lovely villa, highly recommended.

We are 2 couples that stayed at Villa Margarita from 10th-17th June 2014 and we all had a really fantastic time. The villa was as lovely as in the photos, it really did not disappoint! We spent most of our time in or around the pool, and the roof terrace was great too - its very easy to fall asleep on the double bed up there! It was so nice to get in the pool first thing in the morning, the water is heated so it is lovely to get into. The veranda is great for escaping the hot sun, there is a small wall mounted TV outside so we sat outside one evening and watched England play in the world cup! The interior of the villa is lovely, clean, although we barely spent any time indoors as we were lucky to have such great weather. Very excited to have a decent hairdryer and straighteners in every bedroom too, that was a nice touch. Kitchen had every possible utensil going which made it feel really homely. Beds were really comfy which I was relieved about as this is something I often struggle with! The biggest, cheapest supermarket on the island is about a 10 minute walk away. We took empty suitcases with us to fill up with drink....water of course, not just wine. Although the wine is ridiculously cheap so rude not to indulge... :-) there are a couple of mini supermarkets in the other direction but Regina the owner told us they were expensive and recommended the cheap, larger one to us. Regina was very helpful and it was easy to contact her on her mobile via Whats App if we had problems. The area was very quiet and peaceful, we all felt very relaxed by the end of it. We usually got taxis into the town as its about a 25 minute walk, although the walk wasnt a problem. Taxis are so so cheap! The main town is lively and it felt very safe, with a good variety of bars and restaurants. Everything seemed reasonably priced, we didnt spend us much as we thought for the week which makes a change! Great island, great villa, highly recommend to anyone, would be ideal for families, friends, couples... :-) thank you for a wonderful holiday! Aimee, David, Ben & Jodie.

Zoe's review

We have just returned from one of the best family holidays that weve ever had. We stayed in Villa Margerita from 12th to 23rd April 2014. We hired a car from the airport and had viewed the villa on google street view, so we knew exactly where we were going and found the villa with ease. The Villa was even better than we had anticipated from the details on the website. It had everything that you could need and more besides!!!! It was clean, spacious and modern and the pool area was fantastic with a great b-b-q. The grass effect floor covering is brilliant - no burnt toes! It is a relatively easy short walk into Corralejo, where there are lots of great places to eat out. Regina was extremely helpful and came straight round to help us, when we had trouble working out the TV controls. There are lovely beaches just 2 mins by car heading back towards the airport and loads of free roadside parking. The zoo was a great day out and we all enjoyed the camel safari. Wed also recommend the quad and buggy safari - this was great fun, if a little dusty. The glass bottom boat experience to Lobos Island was very enjoyable and the kids snorkelled with the fish. The Baku water park at Corralejo was very quiet when we visited so there were plenty of inflatable tubes available. Apparently when it is busy you have to pay extra for tubes as there arent enough to go round. Having previously visited Siam Park Tenerife - no other water park will ever quite compare. However Baku was clean and well supervised and kept the kids (aged 12 and 14) entertained for a few hours. On the whole we would love to return to Villa Margerita and would definitely recommend it to family and friends. The Dixon Family, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, UK.
