Villa in Dalyan,Turkey - Very Peaceful Location 10 min Walk from Dalyan

This is a most beautiful area of Turkey with an awe inspiring coastline. The small town of Dalyan has a wonderful location on a river which connects a large inland lake to the Mediterranean Sea. Iztuzu Beach has just been voted the sixth best beach in the world and offers 5km of white sand and very safe swimming and no crowds. This is a conservation area so there are no beach front developments. The people are utterly charming and welcome visitors to their town of which they are very proud. This is an excellent location for families particularly those with young teenagers keen to spread their wings as it is a very safe location which does not attract the large groups of young people seeking clubs and alcohol. There are numerous excellent restaurants serving both Turkish and international cuisine. For those seeking an activity holiday this is an exceptional location. A car is not essential. There are four excellent mountain bikes in the villa for visitors. Unlimited WiFi Internet access

About the Owner

We are Rod and Hilary Coy. Rod is a retired headteacher and Hilary is a retired primary school teacher. We are both in our 60's and have two sons in their 30's, one who is married both living away from home. We live in the Lake District.

We fell in love with Dalyan some years ago and still today enjoy the friendliness of the people, the beauty of the area and the tranquility of this lovely town. While there we enjoy cycling and walking as well as dining out in the many restaurants.

A gem of a villa

  • 5 of 5

A lovely and well resourced villa in a quiet location, but still only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Dalyan. The river path walk is longer 20 minutes, or so, but shaded and just peaceful.

Everything has been thought of in the villa, so there is everything that we needed to cook when we wanted to. The pool, verandah, and garden were gorgeous and we spent a lot of quality time in/on these.

Rod's information and help were invaluable in preparing us for the holiday. I can not recommend this villa and location highly enough.

Fantastic Villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa is lovely and well equipped and maintained. The free wifi is an added bonus for the family. My husband enjoyed cooking on the bbq, the kids loved the pool which was used from morning till late. The villa is a quiet location but within walking distance of the shops and restaurants by the river. The bikes at the villa came in handy to go shopping or sightseeing. The locals are all friendly and the restaurants are great value for money and great food too. We went on two trips through Kunous tours and were brilliant, we went on the Jeep safari and the 12 island boat trip. Rod and Hillary arranged everything for us and gave us valuable information on what to do and see. Out of a party of 6 from ages 9 to 69 we all agreed it was the best holiday we've had and are going back next year!

Our Holiday in Dalyan

  • 5 of 5

Our first impressions of Villa Baykus was perfect this was our second visit and it was like coming home.Every thing is very clean and well maintained. The pool man comes every day to clean the pool and pool area,he is a friendly young man...We would recommend Villa baykus to people of all ages although we feel if you have toddlers or young children you would need to keep both eyes on them as the pool area is open. we would love to recommend a restaurant or two but we can't ...they are all excellent our problem was we wanted to eat at all of them. We have done a couple of boat trips.. but there is so much to do in and around Dalyan that we just run out of time... We are booking up again for another holiday at Villa Baykus. We love the every thing about our time spent in Dalyan and at our lovely Villa.

Owner's Response: This review supports what many of our guests say about Villa Baykus and Dalyan. Many comments reflect the excellent service given by our agents Kaunos Villa/Tours. The pool is always crystal clear and the garden beautifully maintained. We have tried to equip the villa with everything guests might need to make it feel like home from home. We are delighted that these guests have enjoyed their second stay as much as their first and are planning to return again.

Location

From the Owner

Hilary and I first visited Turkey and Dalyan in 2004. We immediately fell in love with Dalyan and the Turkish people. The town has retained its charm with the restriction on building height and size. It is a quiet place without clubs and discos. The area has everything. Outstanding scenery, a host of physical activities to enjoy, delightful restaurants and a protected beach voted one of the 10 best beaches in the world. Dalyan is located only 25 minutes from Dalaman Airport so makes getting there very easy after a long flight.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Dalaman at 30 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Kervan Saray at 500 Metres Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

This is a most beautiful area of Turkey with an awe inspiring coastline. The small town of Dalyan has a wonderful location on a river which connects a large inland lake to the Mediterranean Sea. Iztuzu Beach has just been voted the sixth best beach in the world and offers 5km of white sand and very safe swimming and no crowds. This is a conservation area so there are no beach front developments. The beach is reached by boat or dolmus. The boat winds its way through the reed beds.

Travel:

Dalyan is only 25 min from Dalaman International airport. Transfers can be arranged and cost approximately £60 return for up to 4 people. Once in Dalyan a car is not necessary as everything is close at hand. If transport is needed the local dolmus minibuses are very cheap and very reliable. For the energetic there are 4 very good mountain bikes in the villa for guests to use. Additional bikes can be hired very cheaply. Cycling in Dalyan is very easy as it is flat around the town.

Distances:

10 min from Dalyan. 20 min from Award winning beach by water taxi. 15 min from Ancient city of Caunos. 10 min from from river/ lake/ mountains. 60 min fro Fethiye. The nearset shop for supplies is about 500 metres away. The main supermarkets are in the town.

Further Details:

The ancient city of Caunos (3,000 yrs BC) is a 15 minute walk away from Dalyan.Cross the river on a small rowing boat and you are on your way. There are many excellent river-side restaurants with views of the famous Lycian rock tombs, a wonderful setting for an evening meal. This is a truly magnificent sight. There are many more activities for the more energetic, activities such as walking, cycling, white water rafting, canoeing, scuba diving, horse riding. A journey to the lake with the local boatmen, a swim to cool off or a trip to the hot springs and mud baths. (Sting, Dustin Hoffman and David Bellamy have enjoyed this muddy experience). The Beach has recently been judged to be one of the top ten beaches of the world. Iztuzu Beach, 5km of golden sand, fresh water swimming or salt water swimming You Choose! The return boat journey to the beach costs 5ytl (about £2) and meanders through the beautiful reed beds. Kingfishers, white egrets, marsh harriers and storks can often be seen. It is also not unusual to see turtles in the river.
