2 Bedroom National Trust Thatched Cottage overlooking Shipload Bay, between Clovelly and Hartland Quay. Walkers Paradise.

East Titchberry Farm is in an idyllic location set right on the coastal path in North Devon between Clovelly and Hartland Point with spectacular coastal scenery and beaches to explore. The renovated cottage retains much of its charm and character with exposed beams, inglenook fireplace with wood burner and slate spiral staircase. The kitchen and wet room bathroom offers all modern day conveniences, and although the cottage is attached to the farmhouse you have your own private entrance and sunny walled garden. Guests are welcome to explore the farm and see our Aberdeen Angus cows, Jacob sheep, Oxford & Sandy Black pigs, ducks, geese and chickens. Stunning coastal walks in both directions with Hartland Quay 3 miles to the west and picturesque Clovelly 7 miles to the east. The local village of Hartland, 2 miles away, offers traditional family pubs, coffee shop, convenience store, post office, arts and crafts, and you have many attractions close by including Hartland Abbey, Milky Way, Dartington Crystal, the Big Sheep and the long sandy beaches of Bude and Westward Ho!

About Sarah Clark

In 2008, along with my husband and daughter, we moved from Hertfordshire to Hartland in North Devon, taking on a Farm Business Tenancy with the National Trust here at East Titchberry Farm. The farm sits right on the coastal path overlooking Lundy Island and we honestly feel privileged to live here. We farm our pedigree Aberdeen Angus beef herd, our Jacob sheep and our rare breed Oxford and Sandy Black pigs. Farming is a way of life and at times pretty hectic but we wouldn't change it for the world. To wake up every morning and be able to see the sea is still just wonderful.

Why Sarah Clark chose Torridge

Hartland in North Devon is unique and unspoilt. The entire Hartland Peninsula is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The incredible landscapes, clean waters and protected valleys are teeming with plant, marine and animal wildlife. Hartland is part of UNESCO's North Devon Biosphere and Lundy Island is England's only Marine Nature Reserve.

A great base to explore this beautiful stretch of coast. We barely had to drive at all with such lovely walks so close. Weather wasn't great but the wood burner was so cosy we didn't care! Lovely cake and steaks. Thanks x

At East Titchberry Farm Cottage in Hartland, North Devon, the South West Coast Path is 200 metres from your front door. The farm overlooks Lundy Island and has stunning views over Shipload Bay. Hartland is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and you are perfectly placed on the Hartland Peninsula for a number of fantastic circular walks taking in the stunning coastal and inland scenery including Clovelly, Brownsham, Hartland Abbey, Spekes Mill Mouth and Hartland Quay. Hartland has thriving arts and crafts where you can join informal pottery classes and art classes. There are many coves to explore along the coastal path in either direction. The larger sandy beaches at Sandymouth, Bude and Westwood Ho in North Devon are a short drive away.

Visit Lundy Island with its amazing wildlife and timeless beauty, with day trips available from Bideford or Ilfracombe during the summer months or by helicopter during the winter.

Notes on accommodation: A warm welcome awaits you with tea, coffee and homemade cake. Our cottage has full central heating and with a wood burning stove makes for a wonderful holiday at any time of the year. The children will love all the animals. We also sell our farm produce e.g eggs, marmalade, beef, lamb, pork etc. Outside: The cottage is adjacent to our farmouse where you have your own entrance and sunny walled garden for complete privacy. Garden furniture and BBQ are provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedlinen included, please bring your own towels. The cottage will be cleaned before your arrival.

Idyllic Country Cottage

We have just returned home after spending 5 lovely days here just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Hartland area.

Sarah made us very wellcome upon arrival at the cottage with a cake and a cuppa which is was a nice touch.

The cottage is a classic 'chocolate box' view which was just what we were looking for. It was comfortable, peaceful, well presented and spotlessly clean.

It is set within a working farm and you can buy the farm produce directly from Sarah and Tim.

The location is in the relatively remote Hartland countryside and perfect for us walking with our dog on the coastal paths.

To summarize the cottage and working farm around it is a credit to the hard work Sarah and Tim put into it and we would definately stay here again.

Delightful cottage;- We loved it!

We are walking the sw coast path slowly with our two dogs. This charming cottage was an ideal location to explore the spectacular Hartland Peninsula Coast Line from Clovelly to Bude.

The farm is close to Hartland Lighthouse close to Shipload Bay. The entrance is through grassed farmyard with the occasional hen and the jumble of old picturesque farm buildings. Parking is behind the cobb granary.

Our hosts were ready to welcome us. There were numerous delightful touches to make our stay more enjoyable.

The cottage, which is attached to the farmhouse is entered via a sunny courtyard garden which is secure for dogs. The front entrance porch is ideal for walking gear, boots, coats and dog towels. This leads through to the cosy lounge with woodburner, tv games and book cupboard. The kitchen and eating area is off the sitting room. A lobby to rear of lounge leads to a wetroom with good shower. A querkie slate spiral stair rises from the porch up to a landing with 2 bedrooms. Both rooms have snugglie beds suitable for adult use with space in the double room for a cot. A toilet is off the landing. Care needs to be taken with the spiral stair. A washing machine is available in the farmhouse.

This is a working farm with cattle, sheep, pigs and hens. At this time of year there are various cute baby animals.

We would recommend that visitors try some of the farm produce. Our roast beef was delicious, with yummie sandwiches for our next day's walk whilst we drank in the spectacular views.

Bring some food for picnics and diners, Hartland is the closest village with shopping facilities and pubs etc. Coastal snack shops are seasonal. Petrol is at Morrisons in Bude or Bideford. Most of the roads in the Hartland Peninsula are tiny, we found parking in Hartland difficult. We had a lovely meal in Hartland, good tea and cake in Morwenstowe.

Good walking/ wet weather gear is essential, a torch and local maps useful. Some of the coast path is tough due to the numerous river valleys to be crossed. This moody beautiful coast line is addictive.

Due to rock falls Shipload Bay was closed, but there are numerous rocky coves to explore.

Great cottage, great location!

After searching for somewhere to spend New Year with friends, I was delighted to find East Titchberry farm cottage and even happier to find that it totally lived up to expectations. On arrival, the cottage was very clean and cosy and we were welcomed with home made cake and a bottle of celebratory bubbles! The Christmas tree & decorations were another unexpected bonus making the cottage very festive - especially when sitting in front of the lovely inglenook fireplace with a glowing fire.

The kitchen was well equipped for us to self-cater in the evenings but there are nice pubs in the area for those who want to eat out.

The bedrooms were clean and cosy with comfortable beds (the twin beds were good for adults). As the shower room is on the ground floor it was very handy to have a second toilet and wash-hand basin on the 2nd floor.

As a group of adults with a dog, this cottage was in the perfect location for the many walks in the area including the coast path which is only 5 minutes walk up a footpath leading from the farm.

We'd happily recommend the cottage - children would love meeting the animals and we certainly enjoyed the produce (eggs and sausages). Sarah and Tim are good hosts, providing plenty of information in the cottage but also happy to advise when asked: all of which helped to make this a memorable few days in beautiful Devon!

Fabulous New Year stay, as Sarah says it is just heavenly. Exactly what we needed after a busy Christmas . Lovely cottage & the log fire just topped it off. Nothing was too much trouble for Tim & Sarah.We planning to return possibly in the summer
